Time to give Woodsy and Teddy a break

"Winning wouldn't mean as much as winning here".

That may be one of the greatest quotes i've ever read from any player. Warriors supporters have got to be proud of him.

I'd hazard a guess he is just regurgitating exactly what Gus Gould's article said re: our departing 3 on Monday. Sounds great though to hear as a supporter, but IMO just a re-hash.

Transparent as glass had the Gus Gould article all over it. Lets just say SJ tested the market before committing and we can assume that there is a few other great incentives to stay at the Warriors.

It's tomorrow mate. I'll be there. I also think I'll express myself.

**How about you 'Johnny come latelys' just concentrate on supporting the team instead of going to the game just to 'express your feelings**'. Booing your own players is NOT supporting the team - It will only give the opposing team the advantage, but you probably don't care about that anyway, since you're only in it for the theatrics.

Because this is Australia, not North Korea.

Yea, this is Australia mate. You are allowed to boo players on your own team and we are allowed to say "SHUT UP*". Booing your own players is NOT supporting your team and just mean. Yes, Free speech does allow you to express your opinions. It gives you the right to say a lot of stupid things, you don't have to exercise that right. We too can exercise that right and respond. Freedom of speech allows you to say many things, a wise man says few.

Woods, Tedesco have gotten serious injuries playing for the club. Their leaving, in part because we have stuffed them around and appear to be in a bit of chaos. I am more sad about Woods going, he has character. Why Boo them, their part of our history and our club. They wear our colours, while they do I want to see them rip in.

*The Angels Radio version, please add those 6 words as needed.

Well I guess we will find out how many feel like me and how many feel like you tonight.

For me, the captain is a treacherous traitor and acted in a manner opposite to the pride a Wests Tigers Captain should show . He should immediately stand down as captain and I will be booing loud and clear .

This is a joke right? Woods has character? His character over the last six months has been disrespectful and deserves all the criticism he has been getting. May he never ever win a GF in his entire career, that would be the most satisfying of outcomes.

Oh how quiclkly and conveniently some choose to forget how the last captain was treated which ironically is why the current captain has the C beside his name!
Do you think the current captain may have thought the last long serving captain was treated in a manner opposite to how Wests Tigers club management should treat a long serving elite player/ captain: that he played all his football under and was approaching his 250 th game for the club?

Or do we continue to absolve the club of all the years of leadershiip stuffups and ignore the fact that is a major reason why Woods and Teddy explored other options in the first place because ?

Boo as loud as you like I will just think your a closet Sharks supporter.

The most accurate thing about your statement is that both the former and current captain followed the same pattern. They have worked alongside their managers to bring widespread condemnation and mockery to our club. Players get tapped on the shoulder every year in the NRL, and out of all those players only one has ever done "a Robbie Farah". Poor woodsy, having to love through that :bawling :bawling

The difference was Farah had shown loyalty and passion on field for a lot longer, and had arguably earnt the right to have a tantrum (although he lost a lot of my respect). Woods has not. Anyone who thinks they are bigger than the club can cop it as far as I'm concerned.

Personally if I was going I wouldn't boo, but I wouldn't cheer, even if he scored a hat trick.

So the way Woods has acted should be blamed on the way Robbie was treated. The club treated Robbie terribly but what could the board do ? Should they have stood up for Robbie over Taylor ? Should Taylor have been sacked earlier than what he was ?

I mean these questions are easy for you to sit there and blame the club but let's be honest Woods actions are a reflection of his character. Same as Tedesco's.

I think booing these guys is more than fair enough.

I also think ignoring Go's comments that we shouldn't boo is more than fair enough.

So no one is absolving the club of leadership stuff-ups although the only leadership stuff-up I see is employing Taylor and not putting deadlines on the players holding us to ransom a lot earlier than we did. These are not terrible mistakes.

The way these players have acted though is classless and shows a lack of respect for our club.

Elite player… Playing off the bench for Souths who got done by 40 last night.....

I loved robbie for a long time... He was a good guy and bled for the Tigers... or at least that's how he painted the picture of himself....

Farah may have played origin, but the blue have failed miserably and have continued year on year picking 'incumbents' instead of players in form. Farahs best was a long time ago.... This is shown by how much better mcillwrick (a guy on maybe 150k) is playing compared to a player who was being paid 750k.

Remember how we got rid of sheens?
How we got rid of potter (who was making progress)?
That was Farah.
The club did what they had to do....
Cry all you want about his treatment, but before you do please be sure to factor in the treatment he gave others who were trying to better this club (behind their backs)

Its pretty clear that the club made the right decision, from a football perspective, moving Robbie on. Anyone who thinks otherwise, is simply a Robbie fanboy who can't see the wood from the trees.

If that affected Woods and Teddy's view of the club, then that says more about them. Immature, self-entitled jerks.

Football clubs, like all employers, make human resources decisions. You don't always like it, especially if it means moving mates on, but your job is simply to keep working with those around you.

Sadly, Woods and Teddy had no problem betraying (by constantly talking down the club and management) their other mates who don't have the same options as them.

Whats that saying: "I wouldnt {blank] on them if they were on fire".

Happy to rid the club of these cancerous elements for good.

Southerntiger - the only thing I disagree with in relation to your comments is the treatment of Robbie and the effect it had on our club. Yes he is definitely not a class player now. Once he lost a yard of pace he wasn't an elite player or close to it. The problem is that if we are paying $700k of his salary it was a dumb financial decision and it shows a lack of respect to one of our great players. He had to go but he should have been tapped on his shoulder and told that there were no more contracts coming to him post this season.

Everything else you state though is spot on. I'm starting to think it's good these guys are going. Cutting out the bad elements might mean some short term pain but over the longer term it's going to be good for the club.

Earl, it wasn't a lack of respect. It was simply saying you were a champion but in the best interests of the club we need to move forward. The problem was Farah, in all his ego and notorious immaturity, took it as a lack of respect.

Re the 700K. I suspect we would have been in a better financial position (i.e. had to subsidise less )if Farah had acted like every other player does in those situations, like James Graham alluded to on NRL 360 a few weeks ago, as (a) more clubs would have been interested and (b) we would have had more leverage than we did if the whole world hadn't been aware of the long running feud.

My opinion on Robbie is that we should have let him stay until the end of his contract. I think it was stupid to sign him for 4 years but once you've done that you suck it up. There is no doubt that McIlwrick looks better than Robbie does now for a quarter or less of the cost.

Robbie also acted like a muppet but compared to the guys that followed him he showed a tonne of class.

Farah had every right to spit the dummy, but handled the situation pretty well under the circumstances. On the other hand Woods has been a first class jerk, but I guess Farah is a pretty smart guy and Woods..well if he could not play football he would be struggling to find a vocation. Teddy doesn't have the media exposure of Woods so he really has not done anything wrong except not informing the club of his intentions when the deadline expired.

Just a crazy situation to have three players leaving your club with only 8 rounds completed. The NRL have to come up with a better system. Also the whole TPA thing has to be addressed or we will end up with a four team comp

And if the club makes decisions that are in their best interest ie like tapping players on the shoulder that are no longer in their plans - then how can you so blindly differientiate when the players make a decision which they feel is in their best interest which does not involve the club??
Woods and Teddy have decided to move on for whatever reason - the club will move on without them. The character assassination that has gone with it, is a knee jerk reaction to disappointment and has reached a level where it has become more of topic for some, rather than supporting the team.

Firstly I have no problem with Woods and Teddy leaving. Good luck to them. I suspect they will regret their decision when they retire but perhaps they won't. My issue is the way they played it out and how they deliberately chose a strategy to make the club look bad, so that they would look better. "Hey, look we're not mercenaries but this club us a shambles and we have no choice" was the line they decided to run with. Selfish, is the only way you can fairly describe it. Added to that, they decided to string the club along, not caring that it would inhibit their ability to sign new players "What do we care, we won't be here next year."

Like the media, you are misunderstanding why people are booing. No one is going to boo Ava. Even Moses will not really cop it. People aren't booing because they are leaving, people are booing because their strategy for leaving was a deliberate attempt to damage the club.

Secondly, there is a difference. The club always said to Robbie they would support him finding a new club and would meet their contractual commitments to him. They never said, "if you don't leave, we won't pay you". The club never tried to make Robbie look bad. In fact, they wanted to play it out behind closed doors but Robbie chose to use the media. Even then, they went to considerable pains to display respect to him in the media. Hell JT even wished him the best of luck this year. Given what I know as to what transpired, that was far more than Robbie deserved.

Their strategy was to damage the club!! Look I dont know if you have connections somewhere or where your information comes from - however Woods and Teddy havnt made the club look any worse to me than the club managed to do by itself.

As supporters we have been frustrated by a dysfunctional management, a below par recruitment drive derived from that mismanagement, and two years of a public war between a player and a coach where some of the most ridiculous decisions were allowed to occur by our management that should have been knocked on the head- and they werent.
All through this Teddy and Woods represented our club on and off the field in an exemplary manner while we were scrutinized, judged and considered a basketcase by the rugby league community. At no time was their character judged as being anything less than high achievers in an underperforming organisation.

Nothing Teddy and Woods have done in their careers to date has damaged this club - if anything they have been shining lights - any damage that this club has endured has been self inflicted and to deliberately attack the character of these two, and accuse them of trying to damage the club, without laying any onus on the club for its predicament is completely misguided in my view.

Woods and Teddy are moving on, so is the club - time for the fans to as well, and show some dignity in doing so without resorting to character assassination on social media forums.

Woods and Tedesco most certainly haven't made things any easier for our club with their continued stuffing around and procrastinating. If the club hadn't of taken the initiative and said "enough is enough we aren't waiting around any longer for you 2 to make a decision" then we in all probability would not have approached and signed Matulino and would not be actively trying to recruit off-contract players at this present time. We would still be waiting on these indecisive goons to umm and ahh their way through a few more weeks, effectively putting the club way behind other clubs in terms of being able to enter the player market aggresively, with clear knowledge of how much money we are able to spend.
If they had just come out like men and stated their intentions from the start then supporters would be shattered but respectful of their decision. Not the way they have strung the club and supporters along, not to mention potential sponsors.
I assumed when Woods bunged on about "I wanna see who the new coach is" meant he wanted JT gone, but when Ivan came onboard Woods obviously still wasn't satisfied. Not once did I hear him say "I want JT to still be here as coach from next year onwards", therefore most supporters assumed JT was the sticking point in Woods holding off on re-signing with WT.

And now an interview with Hooper tomorrow!!!!
Wonder who he will slag off now
He has been a busy boy..

Time to unleash Leichhardt….Give it too him

The whole process has been based on assumption because the negotiations are not public information nor should they be.
The reasons for the delays are probably more due to club politics and contractual process rather than anything that Woods and Teddy had control of.
The club acted in its best interest when they put a deadline in place. The players intentions were made clear when they did not comitt - end of story. The club was active in the player market before and after the deadline so it really hasnt made any difference to securing any players.
Quite simply Woods and Teddy were going to get hammered by a percentage of the supporter base if they moved on - regardless of how the negotiation process panned out.
