Do you think the current captain may have thought the last long serving captain was treated in a manner opposite to how Wests Tigers club management should treat a long serving elite player/ captain: that he played all his football under and was approaching his 250 th game for the club?
Or do we continue to absolve the club of all the years of leadershiip stuffups and ignore the fact that is a major reason why Woods and Teddy explored other options in the first place because ?

The difference was Farah had shown loyalty and passion on field for a lot longer, and had arguably earnt the right to have a tantrum (although he lost a lot of my respect). Woods has not. Anyone who thinks they are bigger than the club can cop it as far as I'm concerned.
Personally if I was going I wouldn't boo, but I wouldn't cheer, even if he scored a hat trick.

I think booing these guys is more than fair enough.
I also think ignoring Go's comments that we shouldn't boo is more than fair enough.
So no one is absolving the club of leadership stuff-ups although the only leadership stuff-up I see is employing Taylor and not putting deadlines on the players holding us to ransom a lot earlier than we did. These are not terrible mistakes.
The way these players have acted though is classless and shows a lack of respect for our club.

Farah may have played origin, but the blue have failed miserably and have continued year on year picking 'incumbents' instead of players in form. Farahs best was a long time ago.... This is shown by how much better mcillwrick (a guy on maybe 150k) is playing compared to a player who was being paid 750k.

The club did what they had to do....
Cry all you want about his treatment, but before you do please be sure to factor in the treatment he gave others who were trying to better this club (behind their backs)

Its pretty clear that the club made the right decision, from a football perspective, moving Robbie on. Anyone who thinks otherwise, is simply a Robbie fanboy who can't see the wood from the trees.

Football clubs, like all employers, make human resources decisions. You don't always like it, especially if it means moving mates on, but your job is simply to keep working with those around you.

Southerntiger - the only thing I disagree with in relation to your comments is the treatment of Robbie and the effect it had on our club. Yes he is definitely not a class player now. Once he lost a yard of pace he wasn't an elite player or close to it. The problem is that if we are paying $700k of his salary it was a dumb financial decision and it shows a lack of respect to one of our great players. He had to go but he should have been tapped on his shoulder and told that there were no more contracts coming to him post this season.
Everything else you state though is spot on. I'm starting to think it's good these guys are going. Cutting out the bad elements might mean some short term pain but over the longer term it's going to be good for the club.

Re the 700K. I suspect we would have been in a better financial position (i.e. had to subsidise less )if Farah had acted like every other player does in those situations, like James Graham alluded to on NRL 360 a few weeks ago, as (a) more clubs would have been interested and (b) we would have had more leverage than we did if the whole world hadn't been aware of the long running feud.

My opinion on Robbie is that we should have let him stay until the end of his contract. I think it was stupid to sign him for 4 years but once you've done that you suck it up. There is no doubt that McIlwrick looks better than Robbie does now for a quarter or less of the cost.
Robbie also acted like a muppet but compared to the guys that followed him he showed a tonne of class.

Farah had every right to spit the dummy, but handled the situation pretty well under the circumstances. On the other hand Woods has been a first class jerk, but I guess Farah is a pretty smart guy and Woods..well if he could not play football he would be struggling to find a vocation. Teddy doesn't have the media exposure of Woods so he really has not done anything wrong except not informing the club of his intentions when the deadline expired.
Just a crazy situation to have three players leaving your club with only 8 rounds completed. The NRL have to come up with a better system. Also the whole TPA thing has to be addressed or we will end up with a four team comp

Woods and Teddy have decided to move on for whatever reason - the club will move on without them. The character assassination that has gone with it, is a knee jerk reaction to disappointment and has reached a level where it has become more of topic for some, rather than supporting the team.

Secondly, there is a difference. The club always said to Robbie they would support him finding a new club and would meet their contractual commitments to him. They never said, "if you don't leave, we won't pay you". The club never tried to make Robbie look bad. In fact, they wanted to play it out behind closed doors but Robbie chose to use the media. Even then, they went to considerable pains to display respect to him in the media. Hell JT even wished him the best of luck this year. Given what I know as to what transpired, that was far more than Robbie deserved.

As supporters we have been frustrated by a dysfunctional management, a below par recruitment drive derived from that mismanagement, and two years of a public war between a player and a coach where some of the most ridiculous decisions were allowed to occur by our management that should have been knocked on the head- and they werent.
All through this Teddy and Woods represented our club on and off the field in an exemplary manner while we were scrutinized, judged and considered a basketcase by the rugby league community. At no time was their character judged as being anything less than high achievers in an underperforming organisation.
Nothing Teddy and Woods have done in their careers to date has damaged this club - if anything they have been shining lights - any damage that this club has endured has been self inflicted and to deliberately attack the character of these two, and accuse them of trying to damage the club, without laying any onus on the club for its predicament is completely misguided in my view.
Woods and Teddy are moving on, so is the club - time for the fans to as well, and show some dignity in doing so without resorting to character assassination on social media forums.

I assumed when Woods bunged on about "I wanna see who the new coach is" meant he wanted JT gone, but when Ivan came onboard Woods obviously still wasn't satisfied. Not once did I hear him say "I want JT to still be here as coach from next year onwards", therefore most supporters assumed JT was the sticking point in Woods holding off on re-signing with WT.

The club acted in its best interest when they put a deadline in place. The players intentions were made clear when they did not comitt - end of story. The club was active in the player market before and after the deadline so it really hasnt made any difference to securing any players.
Quite simply Woods and Teddy were going to get hammered by a percentage of the supporter base if they moved on - regardless of how the negotiation process panned out.
