I know we would see them same argument but with different sides if wests wore a black and white jersey with a small orange V, a magpie logo/mascot and a small tiger on the right arm. If ex-balmain folk can't see the importance of the pie to some people than this argument can never be settled.

Maybe because it's WESTS TIGERS. If it was Balmain Magpies you could have the biggest magpie of all time at the logo. Does it ever occur to you that Balmain had to give up a big part of their identity?
In any case most people really don't object to having a Magpie. It's the total lack of understanding that Balmain hasn't disappeared coming the other way that a lot of people object to.
This debate never ends!!!
Balmain giving up identity??? Lets see…
- tiger mascot retained along with long established tigers branding
- tiger still walking up and down sideline just like balmain tigers - magpie GONE
- black & gold only merchandise (shirts, jackets, scarves, beanies, wristbands, baby gear, kids gear, dreadlock wigs etc) just like balmain tigers
- Leichahardt oval branded as 'spiritual home of the tigers' - just like balmain tigers
- Ellery Hanley inducted into balmain hall of fame at a WT function despite also playing for western suburbs
- balmain nominated as sole feeder side to WT, leading to demise of wests magpies in nsw cup most notably in 2012
- media personalities like blocker roach who only acknowledge history of balmain (89 gf, tigers this , tigers that) on radio and tv
- wests name removed from WT membership logo on cards and letterheads
- magpie on sleeve reduced in size since year 2000 then dropped to cuff where players taper over arms.
- no reference in WT to 'western suburbs' or 'magpies' in any official manner
- No significant difference between balmain merchandising of the past to WT of now (i.e tigers scarf of balmain identical to tigers scarf of WT) yet a magpies scarf does not associate with WT despite being the other 50% of the JV
- inner west (balmain district) and inner city centric operations of WT. not embracing the south west except for 4 often poorly scheduled campbelltown games
- ex balmain player as CEO
- majority of media (tv,radio, print, online) refer to WT as just 'tigers' = taking away wests identity.
- majority of non WT fans perceive WT as an extension of Balmain with little recognition to wests
- WT jersey designs bare little resemblance to any wests inspired designs (look at current series)
- a lot of ignorant WT fans in outrage when a wests magpies WT heritage jersey is revealed with no orange in it - yet balmain bumble jersey is worn by WT and no body including commentators make zero mention of it (pointing out that no one really distinguishes the two tigers brands - WT & Balmain)
I could go on for hours....
A little magpie on the sleeve means a lot to a lot of WT fans. Please leave it alone. Respect it and ask yourself how you would feel if the tables were turned around.
