There is one mascot for the team and it is a TIGER!
I have always pushed that we never forget both teams histories but the Magpie is no more relevant than the word 'Balmain' is to the current jersey.
If you want to be fair have BOTH old logos on the jersey , one on each shoulder.
Otherwise it's time to get rid of the Magpie - not make it bigger.

Get the magpie right and leave it alone. **Its been there since day one and unique to WT (no other team including wests magpies have had a magpie on the sleeve)**

The magpie on the sleeve **is a nod to Wests history and legacy**. It has ZERO impact on diminishing the tigers brand or mascot identity.

I can ask the same question re leagues club. Does ashfield now remove the magpie from its big sign on the front and put a tiger in its place? I don't think so. Its a major backer of WT but surely does not want to wipe out all traces of magpie identity.. Campbelltown maybe a bit different but ashfield certainly not.

Funny how you cannot get past yourself to see anything else.
Of course a Magpie on the sleeve is unique to WT - so what?
Does that make it right?
Wests Magpies don't have it on the sleeve because it features on their jersey - after all , they're called the Magpies.
If you are quite happy to have a Magpie on the sleeve as a 'nod' to the history and legacy of Wests (and I've said before I can live with that) will you be prepared to give up one of the sleeves so we can put the old Balmain logo there as a nod to the history and legacy of Balmain?

No problem with me.

be grateful your club is still represented. the bears got done by the eagles and are left with nothing.

The bears went bust. Ironically its balmain that are bust but still represented via WT - the magpie is a vehicle used for wests branding in WT. it is not the primary emblem or mascot for WT.

If I recall correctly Balmain met the qualifying criteria and could have stood alone which Wests did not do. Also Wests did not put in the same funding as Balmain in the early days. My point is that it is all swings and round abouts in a marriage.

Very funny (not) , and once again you can't help your fixation with Moltzen.
Maybe when you are old enough to wear long pants you will learn to confine yourself to the topic at hand and leave your childish humour to the playground.

Last time i checked this was a thread on logo's on the sleeves of our jersey's. All i was doing was making a suggestion, in other words i was on topic. Your remarks however are not. Please stick to the topic thank you very much

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the magpies were technically called "western suburbs". You can continue the tripe about there being no "balmain" in the setup, however if you really want to get nancy about it all, there is no western suburbs in it either. Wests, the name/ term is a generalization of the area in which the team comes from in relation to the cbd. And guess what balmain….. Your west of the city. So my tally comes to, both teams getting helped by the 'wests' as this is their origin in regards to the cbd, and the other being solely in favor of the tigers.... That's two to one without going into jerseys or colours.... Leave the magpie on the sleeve, put a bamain tiger logo on the other side if you must... Just get the hell over it.

Great attitude.

Maybe wests should pull out of the JV, take the pie off the sleeve, pull any funding and go to Perth and become the western maggpies. Then see who is left with nothing.

Yes you do recall correctly. But do you recall Balmain found out they meet the criteria only after they merged. Even so if they were that strong why would they merge. Answer is their heads would have been on the chopping blocks within a year or two. Let's face it you were as desperate as us.

They might have met the criteria at the time, but given the state of Balmain leagues club they wouldn't be here today. Clearly Balmain new this

This topic drifts off too much… Get the tiny magpie correctly sized and positioned and leave it alone.

Apart from the name wests, its hard to put 'wests branding' into WT. The tigers branding comes from Balmain. The tiny magpie represents part of the wests branding (in the background). The V in the logo is also a part of Wests branding but its not that obvious to most.

Keep the 3 primary colours in all merchandising and keep the above arrangement in place and WT will keep many fans happy.

WT will be the only vehicle for the legacy of Balmain & Wests. Its may seem trivial to some but it means something to a lot of WT fans - please keep that in mind.

Tiger maniac you recall incorrectly Balmain knew well in advance they made the criteria but because the nrl at the time were going to cut 2 more teams from the comp which is then why Balmain looked at merging as they were more then likely be 1 of the 2 teams….the nrl never cut 2 more teams at all.

Looking at it now Balmain made the right move as Wests Tigers are one of the better teams in the comp and lets not forget 05 which would have never happened as Balmain.

I dont have a issue with a magpie on the sleeve...but its a token gesture.

Dont make mountains out of molehills

Rubbish. Some on here dead set write fairy tales to make a point.

Neither stakeholder has failed to meet their financial obligations to Wests Tigers to date.

One of the most divisive comments i've ever read on this forum. Should be really proud of yourself champ. How is it possible to be a WT fan when you openly admit you hate one half of the JV?
