people are quick to judge him based on his performances as a fullback.. a position he had never played before NRL.

in this highlights package i youtubed, you will see that when he has the ball in hand and attacking the line - he is dangerous.

he is a playmaker. a 6 or 7\. not a fullback.

1\. tedesco
2\. lawrence
3\. marshall (drop back for lawrence on kick return).
4\. ayshford
5\. koribete
6\. moltzen
7\. miller

thats a premiership winning backline.

Have you been drinking tonight mtd , premiership winning backline . That is a massive call ….my grandma is more of a centre than Marshall

and she's probably more of a fullback than moltzen.

miller, moltzen and tedesco must feature in our starting team…

we have been stale and lacking youth in the play making department...

marshall may not be a centre in defence - but do what we did in 05 and defend him on the wing.. bring him back to centres in attack... shift lawrence to the wing (where all he has to do is the stupid straight line running we are used to).

So you rate Moltzen a better five-eighth than Marshall? And you want to put one of our weakest defenders at centre, the hardest position to defend at….and win a premiership?

im sure u gave it a lot of thought but to me it sounds like
1 to 4
3 to 6
4 to 10
10 to 6
etc etc etc

why not just pick your best fullback, your best wingers, best centres and best halves.. give them a few weeks to form a combo then wait for the results?

there was reason des hasler didnt play barba (despite the objection) in the halves… natural ability doesn't make you a play maker - even if it makes you capable of becoming one. we have TOO MANY talented young natural organisers and play makers to persist with this current line up.. it would be like playing billy slater or GI in the #6\. they can both play it... but its not their best position... benji started for us in the centres...

tedesco to the wing?
moltzen to fullback?

its stupid to shuffle the team around benji. he's a freak. but he is no joey johns, he's no darren lockyer, hes no wally lewis, he's no jonathan thurston. he isnt even close to them as an organising playmaker. on his day he is one of the best players i have seen - but it doesnt make him a five eight.

marshall to defend on the wing.. attack in centres playing off blair/anasta... with lawrence or koro outside him... its mouthwatering.

You are right, Benjis not a great organising playmaker, thats why the vast majority of the forum have been pleading for an actual halfback to partner him in the halves.

"its stupid to shuffle the team around benji."

Its even more stupid to shuffle the team around Moltzen.

I understand what your saying , but looks like Moltzen will be fullback Round 1 and I still want Teddy in the side He won't get picked on the bench (waste anyway , if Potter wants him getting confidence and game time leave him in NSW Cup )

Ok , if you replace Teddy with Utai you lose Utai's go forward , but then again I'd be happy if Koroibete was hitting it up also ,especially if he could get a pass 2-3 players wide of the ruck and target a 6 or 7

I'm sure Mullen or Gidley would just LOOOOOVE seeing Koroibete running full tilt at them all day :smiling_imp:

I think Moltzen has talent. He may end up being played at 7 this year if Miller does not do well. I think Tedesco is a better fullback and will soon be playing there. If Miller is going well and Tedesco is goin well then for mine Moltzen will be a good depth player and will fit nicely in the NSW cup side.

As we see every year, its the 1,6,7,9 combination that wins premierships. I'm not sure Moltzen totally grabs the fulllback spot like Tedesco has the potential to do.

In any case, a competent forward pack is all that is required, nothing more, nothing less.

You look at last years Premiers Melbourne. Who can name all six forwards off the top of their head, plus the reserve forwards? With the exception of Cameron Smith, you have Bromwich, Norrie, Proctor, Lowrie and Hoffman. Sure, all very competent but with the exception of Smith and maybe Hoffmana and Lowrie, they are not world beaters.

If our forwards do a competent job, then this sounds like as good a 'spine' as any

Tedesco, Marshall, Miller, Farah is better than most.

Moltzen is probably an ideal interchange. Can play 1,3,4,6,7,9 with reasonable skill.

I think we need some changes but:-

1\. Miller definitely hasn't proven himself yet.
2\. Ayshford is slow.

While ever these two are in the starting backline and they are performing as per their recent standards the backline can be improved.

I would like to see though:-

1\. tedesco
2\. lawrence
5\. koribete

I think that these 3 at the back would really get us going forward at the start of our sets and be able to get us some points.

As I have said before I think Moltzen should play at centre this year

1\. Tedesco
2\. Koroibete
3\. Moltzen
4\. Brien/Nofoluama
5\. Lawrence

6\. Marshall
7\. Miller/Brooks

you need a big heart to play fullback. Putting you body on the line, I've never seen Moltzen do that. God bless his soul but he's not that type of player. Oh Timmy - what to do with ya.

How about we give him one more crack at fullback buy all the reports from the trails he improved and i dont think all the players were playing at there best it was only a trail lets give him a couple of rounds and see how he goes tbh.

Moltzen cannot handle the high ball and therefore cannot play fullback consistantly well. I think he is a good utility bench player or if we have four forward rotation on the bench then he will be a strong performer in NSW cup. Tedesco is a much stronger option at fullback.
