Payten is intelligent, articulate, was renowned as a very smart footballer and also has a fine record coaching and bringing through juniors. Now what would Weststigers want him when we can have Taylor?

Fine coaching record ??

Yes has a fine history with WTs and also NQ.

As a head coach ??

Say G'day to Unca Todd will ya , tell him to take his whiteanting garbage and stick it where the sun doesn't shine

I'm serious if Payten becomes head coach that will do me …...

Start seeing the shrink now Happy. If Taylor goes he's got the number 1 ticket at the moment.

Good people skills and the ability to motivate players can determine success or failure.

That's very true P&C. And I have no doubt that Todd has very good people skills - at least for the younger generation.

Like I said, I rated him as a 20's coach when he was here but it's all way too risky to think about a return with him being inexperienced and his ties with the former players still at the club.

I would be as stoked as anyone if it did work out, and I'd actually like to see Todd coach here but not yet. He's too inexperienced and I just can't see it being anything else than a long shot to work. Maybe it would, but it would be an experiment and that's the last thing we need in our current state!!

Tim Sheens used to describe Todd as a halfback trapped in a forwards body. Intelligent as player, intelligent person and I think would make a great coach.. ship him in now..We need someone who knows the system at the Tigers, no more blow ins unless it Bellamy or Bennett.

If Payten gets the coaching job, then the boys club has well and truly returned.

Most here love the boys club culture ..I actually call it the Mediocre club the Weststigers thrive on this culture!

If Payten gets the job, it would be karma for the club to appoint assistants that have one eye on his job

Payten is about the best we could afford. Toovey and Cleary would be way out of our price range, plus probably a bit too experienced and wise to want to get mixed up with the likes of our club.

Mediocre is being generous… 3 finals appearances in 16 seasons reeks of a poor (boys) culture

I agree with what you have written HT. We need a coach that can get the best from the playing roster and is able to articulate his case in a positive manner.

As an interim coach, I don't see what the uproar is about. He can't be any worse than what we have now, and unless there's a miracle. This year is shot anyway.
And if he can do something with them over the next 13 or 14 games then that's a plus.
It's unlikely that it's going to be him anyway, so what's the big flap about.

Secondly does anyone really think that the club is going to give a rats if We like it or not, or how many of us join Happys convoy from the dark side to Sin city( that sounds like a good idea by the way), but we should make it a pub crawl, we still may not get a result, but we' all be in a better mood,

Your lives are governed by rumour and speculation. Surely you have something better to do than listen to this crap.

Maybe not.

Great line….classic!

The bottom line Is Taylor will get the flick if we continue to loose and that will be sooner than latter as really there are no wins on the horizon. So Payten and everyone else who has had some interest in coaching at NRL level will be linked to our club.

It is obvious to me we need a harden NRL standard coach with no links to the joint who will be respected by the players. Who that is Iam not sure but it is not Payten

i thought todd payten was with warriors last year and moved to NQ this year? never seen payten with NQ last year iirc.

i'd take cleary over anyone tbh

I don't want that lowlife Payten back at this club.

Anybody who urinates on an Anzac Memorial and blames it as an "accidental location" is scum of the highest order. It is in the middle of a friggen park! If he is ever made head coach of this club I am done!

He definitely was Tig_Prmz , Thurston thanked him in his GF speech or post game speech from memory

I'm not exactly sure what his role is , as David Furner is the main assistant coach

Couple of names from left field would be Furner or Cartright , especially with his boys going on in leaps and bounds
