Todd Payten...

If Wayne Bennett or Bellamy came to this club, there are some on this forum who would find some reason to not employ them.

So predictable.

PS. None of the JT haters who are calling for a new coach, ever name the coach that would satisfy them. Strange.

Steve Folkes !

Get your facts right before you ramble on

Todd would get my vote, he was a very capable lower grade coach and would do a far better job than Taylor, what happened to the style of football we played in the first two rounds, yesterday was booring as bat s*** to watch, Moses and Brooke's give me a break, OVERATED

If Payton was the coach we would have been beaten by 50\. He is a loser.

Come now Russ, i get that you dislike him, but calling him a loser, is a bit over the top. Lol.
Anyway i doubt he wants to come back to this crazy club anymore.

Col, plenty of names have been mentioned. You just need to have an open mind and be prepared to read them on the forum. The team has gone backwards under JT and he has been given more than enough time to demonstrate what he can deliver. Time for new ideas and a new approach.

I see two important criteria for a coach:
1) Having the respect of your playing group and having them want to put in 100% for you every week.
2) Being somebody prospective signings would want to play under.

Whoever coaches us needs to have both of those covered imo.

I always thought Payten was being groomed to take over as coach, I could see it happening.

I do however have grave concerns about having been a player so recently at a club that you know well. There always seems to be baggage, even a guy like Toovey who got good results for Manly, could never quite escape the negative press.

If he was hired I'd totally support him, but if I had my choice I'd pick Cleary. I think Cleary knows how to work with clubs like ours, he's always had battler teams, and not achieving results in a given season is not always about the coach (hello Hasler 2004, Bennett at Knights, Trent Robinson 2016, Madge Maguire 2016).

Payten has my vote and the sooner the better ! He would get more out of this team as he seems a better man manager !

Ivan Cleary.

And to clarify I wasn't a Taylor hater, nor am I.

I just think Cleary would do a better job, and command the respect of the players.

Payten for mind is a step backwards, and would solidify the selection of Robbie Farah, who I'd also like to see the back of.

Why would anyone want Payten when he is untested. Coaching NRL is another level.
After recent failures, surely you would only want a top tier proven coach in NRL if a replacement was to eventuate.

So far we have :- Payten, Folks, Cleary, Toovey, Taylor, B. Smith and D. Anderson.

I don't know how to set one up, but could someone put up the above coaches and the forum members could vote on them?

Should make interesting reading.

Might be a few others who could be available to take up the position as well.

Story in todays tele, can't copy and paste as I do not subsrcribe.
But it says Brooks and Moses want to stay and for the long haul because they see so much talent and a future, but the stumbling block is Taylor.
And the best bit, say's Taylor won't be here next year and will be lucky to see out this year, either Payten or Cleary to take over.
Also say's Taylor has been ringing players and support staff to gauge his popularity, and he didn't like what he heard.
What the hell coach does this, after ringing talk back last year, this guy needs to go and go now, he has no idea how to run a football team.
Story titled " Brooks, Moses set to remain at tigers."

I think Tod replaced John Cartwright at the Cowboys as an assistant coach to Paul Green this season. He almost got the NYC Cowboys home in 2015.But would he leave now or see out the season here through,as it could be another Broncos V Cowboys final.Who Knows..

Like the white ant or not if the Weststigers are going to move forward and seriously want to play finals footy the appointment of a proven experienced NRL coach is the only option available, employing an inexperienced rookie coach will set back the club years.

Agreed. Throw and fair bit at Cleary or Toovey. Make it happen

Payten is number 1 pick & Cleary number 2 according to the papers. If this is true then whoever is in charge of appointing the coach (buckets??) should be tole to pack his bags. Let's make sure the perception of the tigers as rank amatuers holds true.

It could be because of affordability.

How can you buy a marquee coach when you can't afford one. It's like someone on the dole getting upset cos they can't buy a Ferrari.

I don't think a lot of peeps here are looking at this in the right way. At the moment we have Taylor. If I coached the team would it get any worse ? Probably not. Maybe if we had some other posters on here coaching it could get worse but that is a close call.

As for Payten it might work and I can't see it getting any worse.

It could get a lot worse imo.

I'd rather have a brown dog than Payton.
