My cowboys source said they have offered $500k per season x 3 years from 2018\. Beats Tigers offer by around $70k a year but he also said that he hasn't agreed to any terms as of 2pm today

So who's right the cowboys source or the tigers source that said it was a done deal yesterday?

Well the cowboys source is saying he hasn't signed anything. So who knows. Tigers source both said tui had verbally agreed to the deal and that his manager was seeking a release from the warriors. That was on Tuesday. Lots can happen obviously but those 2 are right up there when it comes to player signing confirmations for the Tigers.

Fingers crossed hopefully we can get the kid, you would think the lure of 1st grade footy over playing predominately reggies at the Cows might get it done.

we are definitely getting into a dutch auction. they know we have plenty under the cap.
i suspect upto 5 million. 3 million saving from moses, woods and tedesco and 1 million from farah and sironen and 1 million from plodders like lovett ,rankin, grant (take your pic)

Call the Cowboys bluff ..let them pay overs for Lolohea no need for an auction …then target Giddy Up Giddy Up Mosby who has speed to burn and could play fullback...

That would be good to see. For those that want speed it would be amazing to have Gideon at the back and Ottio on one wing. They're both the kinds of players that would be exciting to watch and would quickly develop cult followings. More importantly they'd probably go alright too…

Hope we dont get in a bidding war, if the cowboys are offering 500k goodluck. He is playing reserve grade and had a shocking game last weekend. Defiantly has potential but paying overs for potential hasnt worked for us for the past 5 years.

Maybe things with JT are not great ..from what I have seen of this guy there must be something going on with the price being thrown around and the urgency of coming in late with a bid.

Don't think so;

The Mole: Johnathan Thurston near certainty for State of Origin series opener

Johnathan Thurston is making a remarkable recovery from his shoulder injury and was even considering asking to play for the Cowboys against the Bulldogs on Thursday night.

But the Cowboys decided to err on the side of caution and won’t risk Thurston less than a week after he damaged the shoulder in the Kangaroos’ Test win over the Kiwis.

Thurston is likely to be named in the Cowboys’ 21 man squad for next Friday week’s trip to Cronulla and make a final decision late in the week.

The latest developments mean Thurston is a near certainty to be fit for Queensland for Origin One in Brisbane on May 31\. “JT is such a competitor - he has been having treatment around the clock and the injury is responding better than we could have hoped,” my Cowboys insider says.

Extract from a story in nz herald:

**Lolohea has a meeting early next week** with CEO Jim Doyle and Stephen Kearney to discuss his future, with up to four clubs in the market for his services.

The 22-year-old is seeking an early release and has already been strongly linked with the Tigers, having met with their coach Ivan Cleary last week.

"He is free to have a look around and we haven't changed anything on that," said Warriors head of recruitment Tony Iro. "I guess at the moment the club see Tui's future in the outside backs and he sees it in the halves. There are more discussions to be had so we will see how they go."

They love Ayshford over there haha....

I'm sick of hearing talk whether tui is coming over not. Sounds like another premadona and is most likely getting his advice off issac moses 😑

I'm sure he has a much better chance of playing in the halves with 2 QLD origin players there at the cowboys.

Not worth over-paying for someone still largely unproven. If he does sign up there i'd look at Coote who they would probably be releasing (despite only resigning him last year) as well as Gela Moseby. Interesting that the Cows are suddenly so desperate. Wonder what's going down up there.

I still get the feeling he'll sign with us but i guess he'd be tempted with the extra cash but with family and friends in Sydney that could be more important to him. If the Cows offered him a deal for next season and we offered him one starting this season, and he's arranged a meeting with Warriors officials on Tuesday to discuss an immediate release then that could be a good sign too.

Deadlines rarely ever if ever at all work out in favour of those who impose them. Rumor from mates in NZ is it's def Warriors who are holding up the decision.

when we're supposedly signing a player i like to see what that teams fans think of losing him. no warriors fans seem fussed at all. to me he seems like a good fit as i think a quick fullback suits us as opposed to a safe/robust one (i.e hopoate). the goal kicking is a bonus. however i certianly wouldnt get in a bidding war over him.

saints fans on the other hand are all shattered at the prospect of losing packer, a lot even prefer to keep him over dugan

Te Maire Martin is set to join the Warriors after knocking back Melbourne in a move that will expedite the immediate the transfers of Tui Lolehia to Wests Tigers and Mitchell Moses to Parramatta.
Lolohia has been considering offers from Canberra and North Queensland but believes the best career path for him lies at Wests Tigers. He has asked for a release from the Warriors, which is likely to be forthcoming when the Martin deal is officially signed off. Lolahia's move to the Tigers will be for the remainder of this year, plus two additional seasons. He will immediately slot in alongside Luke Brooks in the halves, freeing up Moses go straight across to the Eels. Lolohia will then be in prime position to take over at fullback when James Tedesco shifts to the Roosters in 2018.

The shift seemingly has benefits for all parties. Lolohia will get a regular starting spot in his preferred position after languishing with the Warriors' feeder club, Auckland Vulcans; Martin will get the chance to establish himself as first-grader as Foran's long-term replacement; the Tigers will fill the last remaining piece in their quest for 'big four' replacements; and Parramatta will get the half they have been pining for to play alongside Corey Norman.

Got it wrong with 4 different attempts :astonished:

Well I hope it happens sooner rather than later because I can't watch Moses pull on a WT jersey anymore. He's nothing short of useless.

How the hell could you get excited about Moses if you are a Parra fan. God help them.

And strangely they are .
Will be ironic if he costs them a spot in the 8.
