$400k a year is overs for Peachey. He's literally just as good as Mbye and will probably take a bench spot over one of our young players.

So we're paying $400k for Mbye to play at Dragons and $400k to sign peachey.... we should've just kept Mbye.

Those younger players had their chance when we got flogged 38 to Nil by the team coming last. Throwing kids into Ist grade too early does not help their confidence and does more harm than good. We need experience and versatility, and Peachy fits that profile. Getting rid of MBye was always a dumb move and for what, a saving of $50k or $100k.

We're saving 400k on M'Bye. Basically Peacheys wage and gaining a player that has a heart and isn't a dressing room cancer

What evidence is there that Mbye is a dressing room cancer?

Well if I was in a workplace and the bloke earning more than pretty much everyone else was a passenger, and never putting in for the cause. It'd smash my morale. Can't imagine the rest of the squad feeling different

Seemed to be the only one talking when the Storm gave it to us this year.

Can talk all he wants. He still was backtracking in the defensive line and actively avoiding contact

I didn't say he played well, you stated he was a cancer, the players seemed to listen to him.

This is on Roar, not sure how legit this is, as it's not the WT site?

https://www.msn.com/en-au/sport/more-sports/breaking-peachey-finds-new-home-for-2022/ar-AAP6K28?ocid=msedgntp

Tyrone Peachey is on the move to Wests Tigers next season.

After three seasons with the Gold Coast Titans, Peachey is poised to return to Sydney after agreeing to terms on a two-year-deal with the Tigers.

The Roar understands the deal is worth around $800,000 with an official announcement imminent.

One of the most versatile players in the game, Peachey has been identified by the Tigers as a ball playing lock.

If we have signed Peachey for $400k a season that will do me. He has showed nothing for a few years now .

Sure sign him on $250-300k but geez $400k is a fair whack. So much for not paying overs

The reality is though if we don’t sign some new players with experience we’re simply giving what we already have a big pay rise. Some one said it a day or so back, we have to sign some players and there’s not many available and even fewer who want to come here.To me this is about as good a signing as we can get. Experienced and versatile and can still make things happen in a game.

The position of only wanting to sign Munsters, Trobojevic’ and the like is not gonna happen. Baby steps is our only way currently with the stench of this place.

This isn’t a baby step if its 400k for a player who can’t cement a position and has been ordinary for a few years. He would have zero sway in the player market.
He just replaces Mbye/Walters. I have no issue with Peachey coming and he would be a step up on who he replaces, its the 400k if true I have an issue with.

I think Peachey might be a tad better than Mbye and an absolute crapload better than Walters. And he’s on less than half what Mbye was on. What the club has to pay for a crap decision regarding Mbye is irrelevant to decisions made going forward.

He is 30yrs old - are you comfortable with the reported 400k price tag per year?

We’ve got plenty of young blokes. We need experienced players now and whilst I’d have preferred to pay $250k a year we’re not the top teams where that happens. So yeah based on what I’ve said I’m happy. If he doesn’t produce what he’s signed to do, I like anyone else won’t be happy but my crystal ball shat itself just before we signed Cleary so I’ll just have to take the punt.

For the record I’m not saying you’re wrong and I’m right, we’re both entitled to our opinion. I just firmly believe he’s a better option than what’s out there and the money or terms aren’t ridiculous for what he is and who we are.

Peachey is no better than Mybe so what's the point ?
We're paying Mbye to play at saints so probably not any better off financially either.

He’s significantly better, I don’t even think it’s close. Mbye would probably be a better 1, I’d take peachey at centre, 5/8, lock or hooker

Meh, don't see anything in him.

Im in another camp. I have never seen the hype around him, until this year. This year in every Titans game I watched he looked good, very dangerous.

I've never been a fan of Peachey but this year he was pretty good
Perfect 14 for us

If that’s the role he is signed to carry out. Compare Peachey at $400k to Mbyebat $900k. I know which way I’d go.

But we’re still paying $400k for Mbye, so it’s about the same price overall anyway.

Difference being peachey will actually cost us less games and maybe even win a few

Which games did Mbye cost us?

Really? Which one did he have a go in.
From memory - He left Hoffman high and dry a bunch of times in his debut...
Start with that one if you like?

Mbye turned up... but he never *turned up.*

Left his heart at the bulldogs, his first love.
Fraud.

Just like Jimmy Tamou,
His heart is still with the Panthers.

Need to stop signing this scorn lovers.

Look through the dialogue on Forums of his time there...
He was all talk there as well...
Had a couple good games when he knew he was on the outer to find a buyer - Found one...
Job done.
Rinse and repeat, He'll do it again....

Fair enough mate.

He can cover a number of positions and is a solid player.

There is not a lot available at the moment, and if we are persisting with signing young players, we are going to need some experience around them.

2 years is a great bridging contract that fills positions with a good first grader while allowing younger players to develop.

The only thing that will stop him walking into the 13 is Madge's 2014 game plan where he wants a 3rd prop at lock.

When you’re a desperate club like we are you have to pay more. We have done so well the last 18mths not paying overs. Once you do player managers know and use it. Lets hope he comes and he is on a better deal than reported.

Seriously people?!
Does anyone know how to spot a leader? Lol
He is being sold as a leader because he’s 31 toward the end of next season.
If he was a leader then his club would not be moving him on.
A leader is someone like Doueihi, a person who has a very strong desire to be better so he can win. He wants those around him to be better so they can enjoy winning.
Old players have one thing in mind if they’re wanting to sign with a side which can’t even make it into the top 8. A high paying long contract.

I have heard the deal will be 450k in 2022 then 250k in 2023

700k in total

Would be a lot better if the deal was 250k in 2022 (or maybe 300-350K would be fair for both parties) and 400-450k in 2023 with 2023 being a club option.

From what I saw of him towards the end of the season he was a reasonable option at the right price, but the best deal would be for every year to be a contract year to keep him at his best with the potential of a pay rise in year 2 as an incentive.

Wether you want to dispute if he is a leader or not. One thing I’m sure about is he is a competitor and a winner. I haven’t witnessed him play the game any other way.

Saw them at the Newcastle Ent Cent many many years ago.

I was at that gig

Mid to late 90s sometime lol

In 2021 he played mainly Lock and off the bench with 3 or 4 games at five eight so obviously has versatility.

He also forced 11 drop outs in 2021 from only 29 attacking kicks- Only Brooks for us forced more with 12 and he played a lot more minutes and a lot more kicks

Someone said he has no passing game but he threw 257 passes this year while Adam Douehi through 266, 9 try assists, 5 tries, 7 line breaks and 6 line break assists and 50 tackle busts. He averaged more meters per run for the titans then David Fifita.

He has played 170 first grade games which is good experience without being bashed and broken

Anyone who doesent think he improves our squad is kidding themselves

Criticism of this signing is off.

He's a good player, plays any position and two year contract means he has to put in because he's looking for a new contract at the end of the season.

If it goes wrong you have a squad player who you can drop after a bad year. I expect he will at least be mbye or Chee kam to our squad and I expect he'll actually be much better than that. I'd say there's a very good chance he ends up our 13 and I believe he'll add something to this team. If not, it's a short contract.

People are way too critical, he's probably the best off contract player at the moment and is a good signing in an area of need. 300k or 400k? Yeah, 400 is high, but probably only by 50 or 60k. I get it'd be better getting players at a discount, but we're not that club.

You have to build a squad, not every player is a marquee.
