Does this hurt Volk's legacy? He shouldn't have taken the fight on short notice but it's easy to say in hindsight.
It shouldn’t majorly, although the manner in which it played out was pretty dramatic.
Going up a weight class and attempting to win a belt in another division is just a bonus.
He’s dominated his own weight class for years.
Should probably just stay there.

Volk is an absolute superstar even though he lost that big time. Islam is a great fighter and he is significantly bigger than Volk.
Khamzat won his fight easily but he didn't really look great post that first round. I wonder if he gassed from that effort.

How did Khamzat win easily? He wanted no part of the standup and just laid on him. I had it 2-1 Usman.
Apparently he broke his hand in the first round.
He controlled him the entire first round then danced with him for the next two.
1 take down in rounds 2 and 3 for Khamzat against Usmans 0.... that got him the win.
Underwhelming fight but the result was correct.

The scoring sucks if you get a takedown but do nothing with it it shouldn't count for much. He wasn't going for submissions, there was no ground n pound, you never thought Khamzat was going to finish him. He maybe the best wrestler in the division but I wasn't impressed. Would have been interesting if it went for 5 rounds.
