Utai hopes for Wests Tigers lifeline

Bad influence on younger players, and i dont really think they would have much to learn from him either.

i wouldnt mind if we got him because it would only be a 2nd-tier contract anyway

Not even worth a second tier contract..

If push came to shove and injuries took their toll i'd rather throw a young cub to the lions so to speak rather then an over the hill never was that will stifle our attack and be a liability in defence.

was at training yesterday….no sign of Utai...wot does this mean..we missed out ...shame

No way does Utai deserve to be in our club at all. Brown's 2010 form as proven how well he can be.

That reminds me. I have made a Facebook page for Mitch Brown as he was by far amazing at the back end of the 2010 season. Please join and be sure to spread it on.

Thanks.

good one smeg, that's answered the exact question I was going to ask about Utai's photo.

Personally I don't think we really need him. Rather see the cashed banked away and saved for a junior who's a realistic chance of playing NRL.

Utai looks like a little nugget in that pic.
He was a powerhouse in his day, use to enjoy watching him play for the doggies.

Don't see him getting a start with the team though, I'd have Beau "Water Boy" Ryan over him at this point.
Interesting to see where he fits into the scheme of things if it works out in his favor.

Utai is most likely past it, but anyone who denies he was once a very good winger has not been watching. If Folkes is the driver for this then I reckon it is worth a shot.

If Utai ends up being better then everyone else or everyone else available at the time then I would rather have him in the team then someone not as good. He won't get any special favours so purchasing an ex international at the age of 29 for 2nd tier money seems a great investment. If you look at clubs who have been successful the last few years a lot of them have ended up with a great player on low wages and its helped them do well - much like Gasnier, Bird and Carney have been the last few years

You can't really compare Gaz, Bird or Carney to Utai.

Bird and Carney were effectively removed from the game due to poor off field behaviour and Gasnier's return was a massively backloaded contract. They're all still talented players but in the case of Bird/Carney they were a perceived risk and were signed on a small contract to minimise risk to the clubs. We will be signing Utai for small bikkies because he's been long out of form, injury prone and out of the NRL for a while now.

If I was willing to give Peter Lewis a fair chance to prove himself I cannot in good concious do anything but the same for Matt Utai

 u always bring him up…always when Sheens is about to do something dumb..I am a little concerned now...

It's because the legend of Peter Lewis is a strong one.

First reserve grade prop to talk up his Origin desires and than play at prop wearing headgear every week. Completely unacceptable
