We need a halfback.

While Sheens is running the show and this is not a dig at him, we will not be chasing a no7\. Benji will play the role most of the time and Farah jumps in every now and than. Its the way the team has been structured to operate. As for the future, Luke Brooks is a real talent along with Moses but after all Benji Shoulder problems in his early days I doubt they will be rushed.

I rate Moses in a similar vein to Tedesco, the way he's going he'll be playing FG at 19, Brooks could be in the same boat if they both carve up in the NYC and continue to physically develop.

Mitchel Pearce looks ordinary at the roosters but would absolutely kill it at the Tigers, i have sen enough from him to make me think he is an excellent club footballer at 7, just not up to origing…Which suits us.

I agree. People keep saying that Pearce is nothing, but have been basing their opinion on his SOO form, and whilst his form at the Chooks isn't too crash-hot, is because he has no big names around him in the halves (Anasta is not a big name half. He's a lock). He has to run the team around by himself, and will have even less help next year when Braith becomes a tiger, but with other organisers around him (Benji, Farah, Maybe even Siro), he can play his natural game and act as a foil for Benj.

Just my opinion, of course

Moses is a sensational player just not sure what is his best position is maybe in the long run he could end up like his uncle playing hooker.

But for sure we need to take full advantage of this next group of 18 and 19 year olds who are a class above and local juniors or close enough to be called local juniors.

Players like Sironen, Tedesco, Lovett, Nofaluma, Santi, Brooks and Moses at the same age at the same club equals a strong future.

I disagree. Ben Hornby and Shane Perry are premiership-winning halfbacks who are terrible in their position.

You need a good play maker, and we have 2 of them in our team. We can win a competiton without a halfback, but we'd have to change our style. Benji does what he sees in our team, and thats how we score most of our tries. We'd need to change it so that it's based on what the halfback see's/wants to do, limiting Marshall's role and changing everything we do.

To be honest, we do need a halfback, but we need one with experience who will be able to call plays over Benji.

Young guys will come and go and disappear because they have to play second fiddle in a first receiver role, which is just stupid.

As far as guys with talent go, there are a few with some NRL experience and have played NSW Cup, but the best of those that I've seen would be Pita Godinet (Vulcans)

Luke Kelly (Storm) also looked solid.

Robson or Townsend (Sharks) would be good, Townsend in particular looks like he could become a very capable 7.

They'll only ever be one famous Townsend & that's Peter Townsend. But you'll have to forgive me because I can't place him right now. Just know its a famous name Madunit.

I'd say Benji will wear 7 for the rest of his Tigers career.

Sironen will play 6 for 2 years then move to the backrow ala Wade Graham.

Mitchell Moses will then be our number 6.

As much as Luke Lewis would have been a good signing, we still would have troubles winning a comp without a quality halfback. Until we address the issue, forget premierships. No team has won a comp with a average halfback. Sign someone like Trent Hodgkinson, 4 year deal with 2 in our favor. What have we got to lose. If your not going to get Cronk or Thurston, don't pay overs for someone like Pearce at $600k, theres still quality at $300k, just include plenty of incentives for goals that they achieve for the club.

What… signing Hodgkindon and we still have no half back!

Would take Robson or Walsh in a heartbeat. Both have solid kicking games, will take the line on, relatively decent in defence and have a good pass.

That said, it will not happen. We won't sign a bona fide half whilst Marshall is at the club, and therein lies the problem. What happens if we lost Marshall for a season? The lack of genuine halves depth is alarming. Sironen's future lies at lock or the second row, and we're left with two legitimate five eighths in Marshall and Moltzen and a U20's halfback who isn't given free reign to play his game. We're lucky that the halves is the only spot we're not getting hammered with injuries otherwise we'd be truly stuffed.

The return of the love symbol (Prince) eh? Sheens could consider it for one year to have him as a kind of consultant for the younger players. It could also give us the oldest team in NRL history, if Lote makes a comeback with Utai, Prince, Anasta and how old's Heino?

I'm an Anasta fan, but I really don't understand why we bought him - it seems to me to displace Siro and make it even more likely that Benji will have to play half.

I'd have Prince back no worries. He is one player who can combine beautifully with Benji. Perhaps he and Benji could get that magic combo working again :stuck_out_tongue:

The Who.

Simon Townsend

The young blokes mentioned may not even get past 20's…dont count ur chickens

Benji is of a ''maturity'' or more appropriately, a senior player now inasmuch that he smothers anyone else in the halves with him nowadays.......whenPrince was here, Scotty had seniority over him.

What we are seeing will NOT change, no matter whos at 7...what with Benjis ego and Sheens' stubbornness.

Get used to it

Exactly. Its Benjis and Robbie's team to run and there in lies the problem when Mr Sheens won't overrule them

Don't know if we need to be desperate for a 7\. If these guys play to their potential they're easily good enough to win the comp!

The bulldogs r definitely capable of winning the gf this year and they have had Kris Keating/josh Reynolds. If they can win it with them y could we not win it with benji Marshall/Curtis siro?

I would honestly say as individuals benji is better than the dogs halves and Curtis is/will be atleast as good if not better than them..

Will just take time
