We need one home?

In trying to compare crowds at different grounds, it is almost impossible to compare like with like. There are so many factors leading to how many people will attend:
Which day of the week?
Team form
Weather
Opponent
Special occassions

Yes, Leichhardt Oval has had higher crowd averages over the life of the Wests Tigers when compared with Campbelltown (13,639 vs 13,018).

But looking at which day of the week the game is on, different grounds have better averages. Campbelltown actually has higher averages on Fridays (14,513 vs 13,382), Saturdays (11,628 vs 9,172) and Mondays (15,080 vs 13,988). Leichhardt has a higher average on Sundays (15,542 vs 12,700). Mind you, the number of games on each day are noticably different.

Another factor affecting the averages is how many games are played at each ground each year. When we were playing 6 games at each, the crowd average was much smaller. Playing fewer games means it is more of an event to go to Campbelltown or Leichhardt, because if you miss one, you have a long wait to the next one. So averages could be swayed if more games are played on a given day. So I wanted to compare averages year on year as well as by weekday. But that starts to cut the pieces to small. There just isn't enough data to give any meaningful results. As a compromise, I've grouped results in 5 year bands:

**Campbelltown

2000-2004 15,003 (4)

**Monday** 13,988 (5)
2000-2004 10,807 (1)
2005-2009 14,874 (2)
2010-2014 14,693 (2)
**Grand Total 13,639 (51)**

Out of all this analysis, there are two points I believe:
1\. There is hardly any real difference between the crowd numbers at the two grounds.
2\. We are better off having multiple grounds so we boost attendances. Even going back to the 6/6 split, crowd numbers will probably fall at each of Leichhardt and Campbelltown. Going to one venue for 12 games will be much worse in my opinion.

You mustve spent some time on that…good effort, a bit too over analytical though imo

Yeah, I do tend to get a bit too deep with the numbers at times. But that's what I like to do…

An early post stated these types of posts never end well. How right they were. Have we come to any conclusions yet?

Really impressed with the way Wests tigers have promoted Campbelltowns first home game of the year.
After all they did for Leichhardt's first game I thought they could of done more for CSS considering the way the position the boys are in at the moment. A big turn out is a must to help boys get a win

Two Gearzone appearances over two weeks is a good start.

To be fair though the weight of the marketing department is firmly into the Heritage round as well
