Wests Tigers centre Brent Naden will serve a three match ban after taking the early guilty plea for a Grade 2 shoulder charge in his team's Round 9 win over the Panthers.

The Grade 2 shoulder charge was for a tackle on Zac Hosking in the 17th minute of the match in Bathurst.

Naden will miss upcoming games against the Dragons, Rabbitohs and Cowboys.

He risked a four-match suspension if he unsuccessfully contested the charge.

No question Naden's not a genius, but on a closer look at that tackle i think he's a bit hard done by (not the sin bin, that was perfectly valid).
If you look at the replay - as he's flying in a Tigers player on the ground rolls through the ruck and takes Naden's legs out before impact and completely rolls him sideways. Thats the main reason the tackle ended up being such a bloody messy shoulder charge.
Seems that your opinion , in this case is invalid, as he’s taken an early plea and is out for 3 games. Big price for the club to pay for an ill timed and uncecessary “tackle”. Maybe he can reflect on that !!!

Imo dopey play. Needs to think a bit more about the team .

Could be a good solid first grade centre if we can clean up the stupid stuff. He will never be elite but he can help us up the ladder till we can upgrade.

Lets be real he is 28 in December, his improvement is past him.

How he was extended for such a long term beats me unless it’s for cheap deal.

He isn’t a NRL top quality center, never has been.
Very over rated & hyped up here.

Don't get me wrong, I like Brent Naden and think he has a lot to offer, just needs to get the brain snaps out of his game but I thought he might have reflected after the send off and 4 weeks he got last year.

7 weeks on the sideline through suspension in the last 12 months with injury time on top of that means we haven't got a lot of value out of him so far.

wow, not just wrong but 'invalid' - ok...
My point is not that the tackle wasn;t a bad one, it quite obviously was - the 3 weeks is a fair enough penalty, probably even valid, and the decision to accept it is quite an obvious one.
My point was that he didn;t intentionally go in for a shoulder charge - the last minute contact on his legs turned what would have probably been a good aggressive hit into a reckless, chargeable mess.
Anyway, I'm still enjoying the afterglow of a good win - hope you are too 🙂
