This side is new,not 2020,with the new experienced players and the young players from last year,i think this pack could be one of the surprises of the season.Time will tell.

Hope so mate, I’d love to see Musgrove stand up to a Papalii in rd 1 and really set us up for a big year. It all starts in the engine room.

Our club's website is surely one of the worst in the league? It's like they are constantly 6 months behind the times on there.

As we all know FB is a major concern,I would like to see Kepoa given a crack in the absence of Laurie.The centres under massive pressure to perform,i think they will, or they are gone and Kei is avaiable mid year and looks good..I think Brooks is underrated,and if Doeihi doesn't perform Madden is in.This is the best forward pack i think WTs have had.I am very confident in tis side.

Our forward pack of 2000 would be preferred IMO

That mob were hardheads who the opposition feared.

16 years ago the forwards were tough and i was a fan.The game has changed,,the forwards are averaging 110kg today and run nearly as fast as the average back in those days.We have many backs today that are over 6'2in and over 98kg. there is no comparison.

Averaging 110kg? Pretty sure that isn't correct.
And because forwards can run faster these days that is supposed to equate to them being better players? Disagree there.

If the late, greatNoel Kelly had taken a dislike to Matterson he'd be waking up in the dressing room an hour after the game. Had one of the best punches for a footballer I've ever seen.

Only 5 players were picked in their round 1 position for the GF.
12 of Round 1 players played in GF.
Completely different bench in GF
No Benji or Farah in Round 1 (Loss to Parra).
Our spine was not settled until Round 16.
Robbie was off the bench from rd 2 until rd 6 loss vs Parra.
Benji off the bench in that game.
From rd 10 next 5 games the new spine of H B P F was 3W 2L before Robbie benched in Rd 15 vs Brisbane (L)
Then suddenly they're the Spine again in R16 and 8 straight wins!

My prediction is that our Grand Final Team for 2021 will be vastly different from the Round 1 Team.

BTW from memory, in the Doco on Foxsports post GF was the first time I heard the expression "The Spine"

Finally, I have mentioned this before - The first time the GF team ever played as a complete unit was in the Brisbane Semi 2 games before the GF.

I'm looking forward to a positive year. I truly believe the team will make the finals. I liked how Madge adjusted things towards the end of last year and it had a positive effect on the players. Our effort at the end of the year was strong - e.g games against Manly, Souths and Parra. We have recruited wisely and players seem happy. I have already placed a lazy hundred on them to make the 8. Early call, but I am confident I will collect. Go the Tiges!

Harder? Have you seen them take a hard run? Tackled hard and drive? These forwards are not harder. They are almost mechanical in there approach due to their training. Becoming sift honestly.

It’s not hard to knee someone in the back of the head . Or squirrels grip them , as their falling to the ground ,or uppercut theM as they’re playing the ball . That’s just cheap , and frankly dirty. It is hard Though to put a shot on a 115kg running at full pelt . Or have a 115kg bohemoth absolutely destroy you . And you get up straight away. And before you say it , no, at no time ever prior to this generation , were players as big strong or fast , as they are now .
You may not like it , and it may not have as overt “toughness “ like brawls on the 40m line , but the game is way harder and way tougher . Teams from as early as 10 years ago , would get belted by today’s teams , let alone any era prior .

GREAT POST and spot on,most of the dirt has gone from the game,and what we have now are athletes.Being tough is not about eye gouging,standing on hands in the play the ball etc,.Cause they were tough,but theyare just as tough today,plus fitter ,bigger and heaps stronger.

Hopefully your not either bud. We'll have to fastest-running forward pack in RL history who wouldn't be able to play the game to save themselves. Ever wondered why Darren Clarke wasn't a footballers earhole? But but he was fast.
