In other words you condone racism?

What does religion have to do with racism knucklehead?

Perhaps im bias cos i hate religion, but i don't think the two are mutually exclusive.

They should be. One cannot do anything about your race…unless your Michael Jackson. Attacking someone based on race is a dog act.

Religion on the other hand is mostly a choice and as far as I am concerned if you believe in fairytales your fair game.

Apart from what Abbas said, no one has an idea. So it's something about his culture whether it be race or religion. Either are unacceptable. I'm not sure what sort of penalty fits that sort of crime either? My guess it'll be something like 6 or 7 matches maybe?
I'm not sure how open the FFA's dealings with these sorts of incidents are. It may even be all behind closed doors thing?

Abbas said after the match that it was related to both his religion and culture.

I'm with Stryker, religion is fair game, but racism is not on.

Yeaj Id like to know the difference between calling someone an aussie/chinese/black *** as opposed to a muslim/catholic/hindu ****

Religion mostly a choice?
I doubt that very very much…you generally go the way your family is, no choice afaics

Yep. Most religion is tied heavily to culture and race so it is very hard to separate the two in any event.

If you call out a Muslim id consider that borderline racist. If anything it sounds like a loophole that allows you to be racist.

IMO

Why call someone out for their religion anyway? like the guy above, i'm an atheist, but i don't give a stuff what others believe as long they don't force it on me. Why is religious vilification acceptable?

I don't believe in "fairytales" either. That does not give me, or anyone else for that matter, the right to verbally or otherwise attack another for their choice to do so, particularly when playing a sport.

I agrees. Whether anyone believes in religion or not, there is a thing called respect for others. You don't have to believe the same as others, but having the human decency to respect what others believe and not use it against them in a harmful way of sorts, should be a given. Well in an ideal world it would probably be…

On the Wanderers themselves, they've got an Asian Champions League match in an hour in China. They need points, preferably a win to stay in contention in this group after the loss at home 2 weeks ago.

Came up with a win in China 1-0, should have been 2-0 (Haliti's goal should have stood). Good to get back in the winners circle in general and off the mark in the ACL.

It was great to get a win, especially with the boys named. I thought Haliti looked to be just offside when the cross was kicked. A pity no one was following the ball when Cole flashed one back across after the keeper got lost.

Tyson solid between the sticks and we're equal second with the Japanese team who lost to the Korean team that beat us. There is a real chance to get out of this group.

A 0-0 draw against Adelaide last night. I've never been more soaked and it only rained for 20 minutes haha

I wouldn't particularly call anyone out on their religion myself either, but bagging someone for which fairytale they believe is far cry from vilifying someone for having no choice in their genetic makeup or sexual orientation.

It's no different to bagging someone for what football team they follow IMO.

Another win in the ACL, now sitting second in the group, just one point behind Ulsan, 3 clear of Kawasaki and 5 clear of Guizhou. Trips to Japan and Korea are next on the ACL agenda, but if we can beat Kawasaki we should be in pole position to go through.

Beating Kawasaki overseas won't be easy. They caused us a few issues last night and on another night may put away a couple of those chances. But yeah we are in a pretty good position to go through to the next stage.

Hopefully we'll be right for Sunday. Popovic didn't start too many first team players with the exception of Ono and Juric so I expect to see a near full strength team for that match.

A great 3-0 win today. Probably one of the better performances of the season.

What was disappointing, was what was happening in the stands. There are way too many issues so I'll only mention a couple.
Police issued a 6 month ban to someone standing in a bay that the card says otherwise on a day where the crowd was disappointingly low. He was literally 5 meters to the side of where his pass was in the same section. That's just way over the top. A few others were thrown out and given bans for very trivial reasons. It wasn't just the RBB either.
In one instance, a security guard was on the case of a couple of kids who were leaning on a fence to get hi-fives from the players warming up running past.
It just seemed like a vast majority of them (police & security) were out with a fair different frame of mind to usual today. Usually we get a couple that are just acting ridiculous. Today they had a few mates.
I was expecting a lesser presence today after many parents complained about how police and security were patting down children when they were entering the RBB in the midweek match. Entry wasn't allowed unless otherwise. The club apologized and got a fair few of these families to meet players, etc. Just when things are normal at a match, things get weird again hahaha

Disappointing performance against the Mariners today. It really seems like the wheels are falling off at this stage. I'd be surprised if we do any real damage in the finals. The Roar is a must win game for us next weekend.

Consistency has definately been an issue this season. Perhaps the uncertainty about where so many players are playing next season has been an issue?
