Wests Magpies may become extinct

As you know as a western suburbs magpie and as a resident of the west yo know what its like to live with a stigma attached no club i repeat no club would have survived with the amount of crap that wests had to put up with in their history we are and will be the eternal survivors in the face of rich class attempts to do everything in their power to see us fail.just as a side note i am successful in life and now live in the city before blacktown but i am forever proud and loyal to what made me the man i am today.sometimes the nicer view comes when you climb the higher mountain.

Good on ya magpie mania. Lets hope the people at Wests are smart and keep the Wests Magpies in the NSW Cup.

it still amazes me that after all these years of obvious baiting that ct still drags you all into these debates

big difference between baiting and downright disregard and disrespect for one side of the merger he shouldnt be allowed to post such inflammatory stuff if he has been doing this since 2000 should he.enough already dont you think old wise smeghead.

The fact that he has been to more Magpies State Cup games than the majority of Western Suburbs fans should be a pretty good indicator as to whether he is being deliberatley disrespectful or saying things to get a rise.

Each to their own though. For instance I read the posts of yourself and young alien with nothing but a wry smile on my face as nothing you can say or do will ever deplete the proud history of the club I followed before the merger and the club I currently follow in State Cup.

But it would seem that you have attatched more to the Magpies image than just football. In that respect I can see where your reaction has found it's source.

the source is reality it is fact.i dont intend to tarnish balmain either and i enjoy hearing you reminisce about the black and gold.but every word i have said about wests is true.theres an old saying which goes it takes an old dog for a hard road a puppy for the pavement.wests were the oldest dog in the game walking these puppies along to their successes.

I don't care how many Wests Magpies games he has been to, or if he wears a Magpies singlet under his Norfs jersey, or if his brother used to force him to go to the Wests Magpies games at Lidcombe Oval when he was a kid. HE IS STILL BEING DISRESPECTFUL!!!

As I said. I understand the persecution complex that the old school Magpies fans have. That is your reality and there is alot of justification to back it up considering the actions of various admins over the years towards the Western Suburbs club.

I would suggest though that you view CT's post for what it is rather than seeing it as a continuation of past ills. He and alien have a history of jibing each other in this way.

This is a serious issue being weighed up by serious people and whatever the decision we need to move forward from it

 Persecution complex that's a good one….'89 Grand final anyone???

Crouching loves to hate the Pies so much it's halarious.....I bet he is still bitter the Maggie is on the sleeve....Move on we must but one thing is for sure the passion amoungst our supporter base can never be questioned..

Leave the bait on the hook ( ie IGNORE the moron)
Its not that hard.
Alien, your youthful ignorance is highlited here….go back in history and look at all the changes in mascots, cherry pickers, watersiders blue bags, berries etc etc...Parra only wanted the Tiger logo, nothing else.

He's also bitter about the word Wests in Wests Tigers and that he has to come to Campbelltown 4 times a year!

So why call it a load of tripe when Gobbsy posted it?

I wasn't saying the Tiger wasn't good for marketing. What I found offensive was what he said about the Magpie

Gobbs wrote:
"The marketing tool of the 'Tiger' was seen as far more enticing compared to a Black and White native Australian bird that was the image of the Western Suburbs Football Club. It was perceived that to ensure that the 'Wests Tigers' product was attractive it had to be threatening, ferocious and appealing to the young generation coming through that could identify with a strong, dominat animal that would defeat it's rivals."

He says he is "as black and white as they come" but he doesn't think the Magpie logo is attractive, threatening, appealing, strong, dominant. When I see the Magpie logo I don't just see a native Australian bird - I see what Western Suburbs stood for. They were the underdogs but they always fought their hardest and we had so many tough players in the past. We had spirit. That's what I see when I see the Magpies logo.

Balmain Ryde-Eastwood TIGERS should be the feeder to Wests TIGERS.

Why? Balmain can't even afford their own team! They are only in the NSW Cup at the mercy of Ryde Eastwood Leagues. What happens when they eventually stop funding Balmain Ryde Eastwood? FOSSIL!

well for one ryde eastwood is in the balmain jrlf area so why shouldn't they fund them? magpies get money of wests ashfield and cambelltown, they would not survive without that. you should not care if they merge at least we still have a team to watch

You should not care if one of our players who wasn't offered a contract decides to goes to a club who has offered him a contract.

how does this have anything to do with the merger? if u dont like the teams merging then why do u support the westst tigers?

Because we had to form a joint-venture in firstgrade to survive. We don't need to in the NSW Cup.

so back to my question what does this have to do with blake lazaurus? like i said already pm me if u have a problem with that. the wests tigers said themselves that they did not want to spend the money on 2 sides so in other words we have no choice so at least give it a chance

I'm pretty sure they didn't say that since they aren't spending money on either of the 2 NSW Cup sides, but if we have a Wests Tigers NSW Cup side they will be.

Wests Magpies may become extinct Written by Daily Telegraph | 31 August 2010

ANOTHER part of rugby league's foundation folklore is set to be buried, with Wests Tigers getting closer to combining their stand-alone NSW Cup feeder sides next season.
In the face of long-held reservations from head coach Tim Sheens, the joint venture have preserved Balmain Tigers and Western Suburbs as separate entities in the second tier.

While practically minded officials argue a secondary merger would save unnecessary duplication and stop contracted players having to play against each other, sentiment has prevailed since Wests Tigers were formed a decade ago.

But the prevailing mood among Balmain and Wests directors is shifting towards a common-sense approach promoted by the parent club and its new CEO Stephen Humphreys.

"Having two NSW Cup sides is not desirable from our point of view because it pits our players against one another, rather than having them on the same team," Humphreys said.

"Having two sides also means we spend twice as much at NSW Cup level and there is a desire to divert some of that finding to our junior league."

but u must be right not the ceo or tim sheens. and u must not care about junior leagues

Sheens didn't say anything about the money. I'm not sure why Humphreys said that if Wests Ashfield funds Wests Magpies and Ryde Eastwood Leagues funds BRET.

I do care about the juniors because that's where we get most of our players from. Wests Leagues Campbelltown helps fund the juniors in the Western Suburbs area.
