I'm going to be disgusted if we've missed out on him.

Who else could he have signed with though? The only othervteam could be the Dogs.

As would I. It would be an epic, almost unforgivable stuff up.

I echo these sentiments too. I'll be devastated if we miss out on cleary. And pissed off the club stuffed the opportunity to sign him.

Cleary is so far ahead of the next best realistic candidate. If cleary went to the dogs, des would never come to the tigers, so we'd be right royally screwed

If Cleary goes to the Dogs, Des will go to the dragons and we will be left with left overs. Good one tigers management, great time to take your time when the right candidate is sitting in front of you.

Don't think the Dragons would be in the market for a coach just yet.

The more I think about it the more I think the idea makes sense (Cleary is still the priority though)…
In addition to the above, the Dogs get a fresh start with a new coach, and Maguire gets to continue his career as an NRL head coach. It seems like Maguire has gone past his use by date at Souths, with his hard line approach wearing thin on the players after 5+ years.

I think Ivan Cleary is our best bet. Having a coach with a proven track record will give the team no excuses. It will make demoting under-performing players a lot easier. And I don't think Ivan will have a problem with that.

Gould just responded on Twitter re the rumours of Cleary going to the Dogs with "i'm told such rumors are incorrect"
