Well it is done and dusted ,this club in the last month has been more positive and proactive than in a decade, Talyor as coach I just hope the demons have gone I really do and not the worse selection a positive appointment , Moss sounds astute and could transform this club to where I believe it should be at the top!. A month ago our memberships were gone fast forward when are they coming so we can get on the train for next season. I will not criticise the powers to be it is time the rubbish stops and we ALL support this great club ..a new era has begun forward into 2015 and beyond.

Best post I've read in a long time. Well said Snake!

Good signing by the board. He was a good tactical player in his day who knew his limits as a footballer. Decent coaching record with average squads and now has matured being part of one of the best coaching set-ups over the past couple of years.
He will be good for the young guys and wont take crap from the players. He will hopefully set up game plans which revolve around structured attack and in your face defence (might be down who is assistants will be).
I was leaning more to Griffith TBH but i think Taylor will do a good job as long as he has the right coaching staff in place with him. If he can recruit a decent edge back-rower that can hit a hole and defend on the inside of Brooks, I will be happy.
Phil Moss on the other hand is great signing for the club and a good backup if Mayer stuffs up. Wonder if there is a position for Folkes to come back on board maybe take over from Skando in the S&C team which needs a complete overhaul.

Hey Chip, what do u think of Lawrence as that edge back rower u speak of? Hits holes better than anyone and defending in closer I think would suit him. He hits very hard and could be a good minder for one of the halves.

Sirro, I dont mind but he needs alot of work in his positional play and needs to put on about 5kg at least. He could become very much like Josh Jackson who I think is one of the best natural footballers going around.
If he build his strength and stamina over the off-season, then could be a good move. His days in the centres are over so I dont think there is any other place for him to go unless he makes this change.
I think we all think and like our edge backrowers to be like Gareth Ellis (big, great footwork, huge workrate and hits a great hole). Ellis was a huge presence in our pack much like Sam Burgess but in a different way. Players didnt want to run into him and didnt want to takcle him…..that is what we are all looking for and we dont have.

Would of been very happy with Fulton and Dwyer 😢

I think Taylor not being the best player is a feature, not a bug. Compare nobody players like Bennett and Bellyache with the likes of Ricky Stuart. He should have matured and the Chooks being on his résumé is a big plus. Let's hope the club supports him and players can only rebel at their peril.

Gee, you would want to hope he has learnt a lot more since he coached Parra and Souths. He had a win ratio of 46.1 per cent when he initially stopped coaching first grade. I'll back him though and hope to see some better results next season.

Welcome to the tigers Jason hope you get a fair go,i as an old tiger fan of 60 years wish you good luck. How sad it is to read the poor comments about Steve Roach a guy who gave is all and more for the tigers and wears his passion on his sleeve to be treated with these types of cheap shots how sad to treat a great tiger like Steve Roach like this.

I can't speak for anyone else, but he's pretty much meaningless to me seeing as i never supported Balmain. And considering the rubbish thats come out of his mouth over the last couple yrs, going back to when he claimed Farah wasn't an Origin player, then berating Farah again this yr, the captain of the club that he's a member of the coaching staff, idk how anyone could defend him. Next you'll be defending Benny for screwing over the Leagues club development.

Im with GNR…. May have been one hell of a player, but he cannot ride those coat tails forever. Currently he is a thorn in our side.

Tiger jim. I came from a Balmain past too. Blocker made his name by what he did on the field, but there's a fine line between passion and being outspoken. He needs to learn when to shut his mouth because that is ultimately his downfall with the club and the media.

Long hard and somewhat ugly process but i think the correct decision was made by those involved.

Its a matter of elimination and i just cant see any of the other candidates going on to do anything that makes us regret signing Jason Taylor. Relieved that Griffin wasnt appointed as i considered him the worst fit.

Only the moving on of Payten and Kidwell left in the clean out!

I don't mind blocker when he said what he did to get Robbie to fire up it worked. I have spoke to him a few times and he is dead set a wests Tigers man not balmain any more. he would work for free if it is in the best interest of the wests Tigers. He had to be impartial when on 2gb and nrl 360\. If some of you guys and girls want to keep putting the boot into him for loving this club to the point where he does some times goes over the top then I believe he is a better supporter of the club than those who bag him

**Tact a factor for Taylor at Wests Tigers**

Jason Taylor's ability to involve the powerful Wests Tigers playing group in his plans is a major reason behind his long-awaited return to the NRL coaching ranks.

A Western Suburbs junior, Taylor has been waiting desperately for another first-grade appointment since he was sacked as South Sydney coach at the end of 2009 following an incident during the team's Mad Monday celebrations.

Taylor has served as Trent Robinson's assistant at the Sydney Roosters for the past two seasons and beat a number of candidates to the Tigers job including Anthony Griffin, Nathan Brown and existing coaching staff members David Kidwell and Todd Payten.

The Tigers boast some of the most exciting talent in the competition, and Taylor's proven ability to get the best out of young halves helped convince the newly appointed Tigers' board that he was the man to nurture Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses.

Under Taylor's tutorship at the Roosters, Mitchell Pearce and James Maloney won a premiership and played State of Origin, and the Tigers are hoping for more of the same.

But above all, the Tigers are confident Taylor has the ability to empower his squad and give players a significant say in the style of play that can return the joint-venture to the finals after several years in the doldrums.

This is an important factor at a club where the opinions of Tigers stars has played some part in unseating the past two first-grade coaches - Tim Sheens and earlier this month Mick Potter.

Taylor's appointment was made in conjunction with Phil Moss's unveiling as the club's first ever general manager of football operations.

"Jason has had success at a lot of clubs and he knows exactly what's needed to succeed," Tigers chief executive Grant Mayer told AAP.

"His knowledge of working with halves played a part in it. He's done wonders with Maloney and Pearce.

"But it's not just about that, it's his overall coaching philosophy.

"He involves his players in his game plans and they buy into it.

"There's such exciting talent coming through at Wests Tigers … and Jason has been given the keys to the car so to speak."

Taylor has had to work hard to restore his reputation after he was unceremoniously sacked by the Rabbitohs over a night out gone wrong, where Taylor was punched down a set of stairs by Souths' player David Fa'alogo at a Sydney pub.

Although a shaken Taylor spoke out in defence of his actions on that night, Souths decided their coach had put himself in a poor position and acted swiftly.

However, since that day Taylor has been perhaps the best-qualified coach without a top job in the NRL, given the success he enjoyed during his brief stint at Parramatta and then in rebuilding the Rabbitohs from the ground up.

Taylor will have a say in a new-look coaching staff, with Payten unlikely to stay on board.

Mayer described the appointments of Taylor and Moss as "good, strong decisions" - the pair having worked together previously at Parramatta.

The Tigers' restructuring of their coaching and administration department after a tumultuous year on and off the field has also served to weaken rivals the Roosters and Penrith - where Moss was employed as football manager.

Mayer said Moss's role overseeing the workings of the football department was inspired more by AFL clubs than Phil Gould's job as the head honcho at the Panthers.
But he praised Moss for his impact at Penrith in rebuilding their roster to become a finals force.

He has done wonders with Pearce and Maloney. Although they were poor at the start of the season, Pearce in particular finished it on fire. Better than I ever thought he could play.

When you read above its obvious the reason Sheens lasted even though he was a 4 time winner and Australian coach is he allowed the players a lot of power.

Potter was a good coach who tried to peel some of that power away and it cost him.

Can understand Farah wielding power but still believe the coach should be boss.

Sadly It seems even Brooks Woods and others have this power.

Taylor like Potter has good ideas but it wasn"t the board but the players who sacked the coach.

And even with a new board nothing has changed,

If Taylor gets the attention of all the players and gets them to listen to him that he is the boss and what he says goes..then that will be a huge victory for this playing group in 2015..
Good luck to him and I hope his coaching staff are what we need..
:sign:  ….....

I welcome the quick decision. He will go ok imo.

Taylor has a three year deal so i don't think the players will get away with any shenanigans, including Robbie.

Be interesting to see what he does with the roster considering the rumours that Austin wants to go canberra.

I would be forcing Ricky to take another Tigers player at full freight if we do release him.
