WESTS Tigers cumulative try tally 2022

Interesting doing a round 7 comparison to last year

In defence we are 10pts less a game better than last year (31 v 21)
In attack we are 4pts worse a game than last year (16 v 12)
Overall the margin between F&A is actually improved by 6pts per game (14 v 8)

Last season our defence & attack improved as the season went on 28pts (-3) & 20pts (+4)

If we base the trend curve on how this year has started with gains in attack and minor movements in defence like last year our trajectory would provide us with a positive F&A which we haven't done since 2011.

Just read this on ESPN and wasn't aware we were going so good in this aspect. However NRL.com have us listed as the team with the least missed tackles - averaging 25.6. Either way well done to Cayless for getting this sort of collective effort from the team.

HITS

The Tigers are back!

Are the Wests Tigers bound for their first premiership since 2005? No. Will they go on a run that will catapult them into finals contention? Probably not. Can they at least compete week-to-week against the NRL's better teams? Yes!

The Tigers may be going through their one purple patch of the 2022 season but the signs are good that this is more than that. Jackson Hastings has been terrific at halfback in the team's back-to-back one-point wins over the Eels and Rabbitohs, but his halves partner Luke Brooks has also excelled in the five-eighth role.

The Tigers have had moments of luck in both wins but they've also given themselves every chance by doing the little things right -- against Souths they completed 45 of their 47 sets, a super impressive 95% completion rate, dwarfing the Rabbitohs' 67% (25 of 37). They also had just 16 missed tackles to Souths' 31, and actually have the second-fewest missed tackles in the league this season.

The wooden spoon favourites may not have the talent to match the best teams in the league at their best, but whenever they get the basics right and stay in the contest they'll give themselves the chance to sneak a tight victory like these ones.

Some more positive media
……………………………………

The Knights are averaging less than 10 points a game this season and their attack was pitiful in last Sunday's 39-2 loss to the Eels. In perfect conditions before a big crowd at home, they rarely challenged the Eels defence and were way off the pace.

And their defence? That's another story - but after the game even some Eels players admitted they were surprised at how easily they racked up the points after playing so poorly the previous week against the Tigers.

TIGERS DEFY BOOKIES

The Wests Tigers are the talk of the league after back-to-back last gasp wins with field goals. And in beating the Eels and Rabbitohs, the Tigers have set a bizarre NRL record. They became the first team in NRL history to win back to back games as double digit underdogs - defying the bookies with their gutsy performances.

Bulldogs are this years Shib Inu, they are sitting really low but at some point with the talent they have, they will click and see a spike in moving up the ladder.
