Wests Tigers in running to sign Elijah Taylor

Just read on Rugby League Week that we are a chance of signing Elijah Taylor from the Panthers.

Roosters are apperantly keen also.

Whats your thoughts on this for a potential signing?

I think he's exactly what we need - an 80 minute defensive workhorse. He has to be played as that though to get the most out of him. There would be no point buying him to play on an edge, or to play any less than 80 minutes. The price would have to be right as well. When he went to the Panthers it was on pretty solid coin.

I would move Sue back to prop or try him out on an edge if we were to sign ET.

I don't know why the Roosters would be interested considering they have Taukeiaho who probably offers more overall. That would be a pretty stupid buy for them to be honest…

PANTHERS workhorse Elijah Taylor looks set to leave the foot of the mountains and could link with a new club in the coming weeks.

Despite dealing with a number of injuries over the past three seasons, Taylor was a favourite of former coach Ivan Cleary, but this season under Anthony Griffin, the 26-year-old has managed just 60 minutes in three matches.

The off-contract forward is believed to be unhappy at the current situation and is looking at potentially forcing an early release to link up with a new club this season.

The short-handed Roosters are reported to be a potential landing spot for Taylor. With forward leaders Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Boyd Cordner out long-term, the Bondi club is desperate for a player of Taylor’s ability and would be a good fit.

Problem is, the Panthers are not too keen on the idea of letting a player go to join a rival club during the season.

Taylor will almost certainly leave the club at the end of the season with the Panthers set to welcome Rabbitohs recruit Chris Grevsmuhl.

The Tigers are the other club linked to the former Warrior. Wests boast some of the hottest young talent in the game but they lack depth, particularly in the forwards – and Taylor would certainly be a welcome addition.

Buchanan is only on a 1 year deal…..better still they can have Curtis Sironen and a straight swap, a win win for all parties :mrgreen:

In last place ahead of Saturday's game against Manly as one of just two clubs yet to register a point in the opening three rounds, the Roosters are down in every major attacking and defensive statistic except missed tackles, according to Champion Data.

It is a huge fall from grace for a team that has been minor premiers for the past three years and won the 2013 grand final under Trent Robinson but the feeling within the club and among rival coaches and officials is the Roosters will still be one of the sides vying for the premiership at the end of season.

Even when fit he would push Sirro to the bench.

They lost RTS, Jennings, Maloney who were on good money and they got Copley for a discount from the Broncos.

Absolute massive yes. This guy is a gun. Can play 80 minutes in the backrow and even rotate hooker if needed. Also I believe he holds the record for most tackles by a Kiwi (or Warrior?), I remember he made 60-odd tackles a few years back.

If we sign Elijah Taylor it would make me so happy. The holes in our defence would be plugged.

I know they've lost a lot of players, but they've also just re-signed a few of their guns on improved deals. Seems ludicrous that they could potentially add another rep player.
