Wests Tigers need to settle up with Robbie Farah so the NRL club can settle down

I really do not see the issue, what ever happens Farah gets his money. He is holding a valid contract.

The coach picks the side,so he has the right to pick who he wants. We might all disagree with his selections, but as coach he has the right to pick the team.

Farah has two options for 2017, stay and play in the team he is selected or find a new club, either way he will get at least the amount on his current contract.

My own view is he should be playing in the top grade, but I am not the coach and I only have places like this forum to get my inside goss,in other words I have no idea what really has and is going on behind the scenes

Words of wisdom mate. Well said.

Did we all forget who took this to the media in the first place?

The media crapstorm that ensued was only the doing of Farah and/or his management. Wests wanted to keep it in house.

When an Oriign player gets dumped to reserves after playing well at club level the media are going to cover it. Especially with the history of these two. Thats just a fact.

i think what CB means is how farah/ayoub took it to the media at the end of last year about how robbie had been threatened he'll be dropped.

TP nailed it. All ensuing nonsense resulted from them whingeing to the media in the first place.

They escalated it, they reaped what they've sown.

The club played it's Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon card last year and like the inexperienced always do, they blew their load too early. If they wanted his money they should have dotted their i's and crossed their t's. Instead they dragged him into an office and ambushed him. This forced him to play his Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon card in the court of public opinion, where he knew he had the upper hand. They both played the game and Farah won.

Fast forward a year and the inevitable has happened. I thought they'd wait till the off season especially since we are still in contention. It seems they've blown their load early yet again. Taylor thinks he has him snookered and most probably does however there's still that pesky contract to deal with….Idiots should have learnt their lesson and provided exit pathways that weren't going to embarrass him. You can say Farah brought this upon himself till the cows come home but all that is pure conjecture. What we can see is that he is reacting to how they are treating him - not the other way round.

What other player in history has kicked up a stink like this over wanting to be moved on my a club that employs him?

Sandow. But at least he realised that he had to go.

If they'd waited until the end of the season then Farah would probably have thought it was an idle threat and that everything would play out exactly the same as this season has, plus other clubs would have less opportunity to factor him into their plans for next year. If their biggest goal is to get him shifted for next year they probably had to move now, or soon.

I wouldn't be so sure that they haven't tried to provide exit pathways that wouldn't embarrass him. The fact they're doing this might be an indication they weren't well received.

someone else put it perfectly.. none of us really know whats going on behind the scenes
it looks bad…smells bad... farah is still amongst the top 17 and therfore should at least be on the bench... and yeps the coach has every right to do whatever he wants.
he after all is on the same tight rope for results

but, its been and continues to be handled badly by all and thats the sour part of it all

i hope farah stays. Plays reserves. bites the bullet and maybe freshens up and come 2018 has a few more options on hand
as for JT, he stays as is also... if the team keeps winning...sweeeeeeeeet !
If they dont, he moves on as per his contract and the club looks at someone like ...lets say ivan cleary

win ... win ... win :ugeek:

Destroying a players brand, reputation and name in order to manage a salary cap shows the lack of integrity within our leadership/management team. Questioning Farahs love for the club after 247 games and a premiership when he could have left many times for bigger dollars is a joke.

Pay the man and lets move on.

Agree 100%

Well written.

What a load of rubbish …Farah has destroyed his reputation himself ...news flash no other club wants him that is why he is still at the club that told him his services were no longer required over a year ago and yes all these clubs do know brand Farah .The sad part about all of this is every one else knows what's needs to be done except the person it is affecting .
This club owes him nothing !

The club owes him $950k. Pay the man and everyone is happy. If not we are a low life club that does't meet it commitments. There is nothing sad about it its a simple equation sounds like you really are a Snake.

I reckon if Taylor intends to play him in reggies for the remainder of his career then the club should pay him his money and let him leave, even if that means he plays at another club.

If they leave him in reggies, Robbie would probably feel like he is being punished. The media would be circling like vultures waiting for something to happen. What we as fans are experiencing now would more than likely occur again. It's a no win situation.

JT has made his call. He should make use of the remaining cap for 2017 as best he can.

The man will get his money. It's just whether Wests are paying all of it for him to run around in reserve grade or another club pays a portion of it.

Exactly…RF has to realise that there is life outside the WT,it's not the end of the world,it's obvious they dont want him, sure the club created this mess and they haven't handled the fall out great, but for your own peace of mind find another club, get your money and move on.

Farah has the upper hand , it's Called a contract , a contract our club put together and offered to him
$ 950 k playing reserve grade , no problem , OR
We pay him every cent he is owed for this season and next season honour the contract and grab a cab Robbie your out of hear , very simple ,But
Somebody in our head office thinks this guy is going to go away on their terms or Jason Taylor's terms , throw his contract money away , Very poor thinking
Taylor keeps him out of the top 17 ( should be on the bench ) Hoping it will break him , BUT
$ 950 k playing reserve grade makes Robbies pain go away
Nothing from Oneil , Very little from Pascoe , keeping there distance ? I think so
If he is not paid out and removed this will fester and blow big time , option if the coach is on say $100 k remove him , bring in Cleary , play Robbie , no offer for 2018 and it's all done , they both can't be here and Farah is in a better position to Stuff things up if he wanted , then the team starts splitting and any chance we may have is going south fast , new coach comes in , mind you a better one than we have now IMO and it may just work , and before someone says Farah undermined Taylor , Taylor is shafting Farah now by not having him on the bench , last week proved it , Dean off , Farah on , but no just re shuffle the team ,

Couldnt have said it better myself. Farah is at the end of his career, of course no one is going to pay hom $900k a year. No one is going to pay even half of that for a dummy half who has one maybe maximum 2 years left in him. Its money he is owed because the club back ended his contract to fit other players into the salary cap at that time. So its not Farahs fault, and he is no villian like some are potraying him because he wants his money. I love how some on here judge farah on a personal as if they hang out with him everyday. It might be true but it might not, who would anyone on here know him personally.

I sympathise with the club because thats money we could use to lock up Elijah taylor and another good forward. But please go about it with dignity and respect. Obviously trying to resolve things behind closed doors didnt work, so taylor and the club are trying to embarrass him out of the club. If anything that will make him want to stay more just to rub it in. From all accounts it seems JT is only contracted next year if we make semis. Either way id pay him his $150k and tell him good riddance. If someone is willing to fork out a decent chunk of Farahs salary then let him go aswell. If not let him mentor Liddle (who says Farah is his idol) and the club should be working tirelessly to secure Tedesco, Brooks and Moses. If we csn do that, and have a half decent coach no reason to not be top 4 next year and pushing for a premiership in the years to come. Im just so nervous that those 3 are like this place is a shambles and we lose any of them.

For crying out loud, are people not paying attention? I've not seen one person say he's not entitled to his money.

There's two scenarios:

1\. He'll play out his contract in reggies here; and collect his $900-950K;
2\. He'll land a contract with another club; they'll pay part of what he's owed next year and Wests will cover the balance.

Where in my post did i say the club is not going to pay him out, its not really up to them. What im saying is that its a lose lose situation for the club and they arent handling it very well. What benefit is it to our cap if he is sitting there playing reggies for a year.

No benefit, in fact I also struggle to think of any benefit in having him at the club beyond this year at all, other than still having a good reserve grade number nine.

The lose, lose situation that the current management have found themselves in means that apart from a bit of negative publicity, there is little more that can be lost by getting rid of Farah and possibly much to gain if another team will take him on. Most likely one of the major reasons why a hell of a lot of people just want him gone.
