Wests Tigers release Rob Lui

I think Sirro (the younger) just needs to get out of the mentality of playing NYC touch footy. He seems to have the tools and the genes to be a good defender.

SOS - we need a halfback for 2012

We have 2\. Miller and Moltzen. Outside of them, who would you suggest the club signs out of the halfbacks off contract for 2012?

Need someone with a consistent, accurate and long kicking game.

Its the real missing puzzle piece

Agreed….. So we need DCE or Cronk!!
HELP!!...

psssttt…. batboy.....I don't know if you have heard, but there is a thing called a salary cap?

We have the best 5/8th in the league. We can't have one of the top 3 halves also.

Miller and Moltzen will get the job done.

Can anyone answer this question
Are Lui and Backo back together ??
I know than sanity would say no but …..

There's an AVO in place which is still current to my knowledge, so no.

Pita Godinet

The right decision was made - for both Lui and the Tigers. I'm a fan at Moltzen at halfback and I'm sure he will get first shot at it. He probably won't come out firing but in time I think he will play well there.

How goods it going to be watching Blair , Ellis , Big Red , Rowdy , steam roll over the top of him when we play the cowgirls . Great decision by the Tigers to cut this gutless ALLEGED women basher free I'll now sleep easy knowing he is now playing for the team I love ..

(Whispers) Yeah i've heard of it… Hence the the request for
HELP!!
I was agreeing with the quoted statement, And implying that of the 2 halves we need... We have NO CHANCE!!
Gentle sarcasm..... Don't worry, You'll get used to it!!

People keep saying that Moltzen will improve given time. Given time? How much time does he need?

He is an average first grade footballer with none of the skills needed in the very important positions of halfback and fullback. Thurston, Sando, DCE and Cronk have great skills for their positions. Leading the team around the park, counting numbers, knowing when to kick and when to pass (or not), defence. Then check out the skills of most of the first grade fullbacks from the Storm, Broncos, Canberra, even Cronulla, Newcastle, Cowboys etc. Compare these players to Moltzen. Not his fault I suppose, seeing that Sheens picks him in the position, but he would be the worst fullback and one of the worst halfbacks in the comp. Off the bench, if anything for him next year.

Debuted 2008 and went well for his first year in FG, 2009 had a bloody good season afaik, 2010 played 4 games and did his ACL in the 5th ending his season, 2011 played just about every conceivable position that sheens could come up with, everytime he was in the halves with Benji, the team went pretty bloody well, I think you have been confusing him with Robert Lui maybe.

He played ok in 2009 @ Fullback and it was pretty obvious opposition defences hadnt put much effort into controlling him. His 4 games in 2010 we well below average and he looked like a reserve grader. For the first half of 2011, the only thing I was monitoring was his committment and I felt that was lacking. The second half as he grew more strength and confidence with his knee, his running game become dangerous, but bar a few games, lacked any real impact.

Col's on the right path in some manner… He is judging Moltzen as a footballer, rather than a Tiger Player. Under the circumstances, I find that a fairer way to compare his ability... The kid is only in this team on the back of his potential. He has talent, there is no doubt about that, but I'm not getting carryed away at this point...

Unless he is found guilty, how does this help the Tigers? they do the 'right' thing and release him for what appears to be serious off-field dramas, only for the volchers to come along and swoop him. A couple yrs down the line, if he turns his life around, and turns into the superstar he is capable of, its not going to be an advantage for the Tigers is it

Nix magpiecol isn't confusing moltzen with anyone he just has zero knowledge about the game..
I agree with u, moltz and benji will go well in the halves!

FOR 2012, and END of 2012 are two very different things.

would be very happy to sign Shaun Johnson.
Maybe we can get Benji to entice him.
For Johnson pairing up with the Kiwi captain must be an incentive.

Sabre both Johnson and benji are too similar styles.. Need someone to be in contrast to benji so as to compliment him

James maloney is our man or kieran foran if he leaves manly and doesnt go dogs

and on luis departure it is probably a good thing….he needed to move, we didnt want to have to sack him and if we kept him we would of had to have stood him down until next years court case was dealt with as we had already been standing him down....it is a loss but this is the best possible outcome

this is what the roosters should have done with carney right away

I just dont understand footballers...if i was one i wouldnt go out during the season i would never do what lui did anyway and i probably wouldnt drink if i was getting payed that much
i mean drinking decreases performance and that is one of those 1 percenters which can be the difference between you being a rep player or a fringe rep, that one stride of pace, that one bit of strength, that last breath, and as i said if i got payed that much...well if i had that 1 percenter on my side id probably get payed more as the club knew i was a safe bet in terms of misdemenours...injury recovery and performance so i would be worth a hell of a lot more.
