Wests Tigers Sack Jason Taylor - OFFICIAL..

new stock??? nothing to do with that, the team has had change the last 5 years and still make the same mistakes, like letting in 2 trys before halftime without fail every game

Toovey would be good all he did was take his team to a grand final and a top 4 finish one bad year and he was gone, Sheens for some reason could do no wrong missing the finals 7 years with us.

Our problems go back to 2012

don't expect a big turnaround just because we get a new coach… it's the attitude of the players that matters and a new coach can't and will not be able to change that in a blink of an eye... he needs to get along with them and that takes time... these boys want their way and if the club gives it to them then I echo matchball's sentiments... we will not survive as a club if this continues.

Its Cleary or nothing for me. Not sure why the infatuation with Toovey after the way he was dumped at Manly, supposedly driven by the players. Payten has Trent Barrett written all over him. If you sack a coach, the idea is to bring in somebody better. And no one can say that Payten is a better coach than Taylor. All the Taylor haters will say "anyone is better than Taylor". Wrong, there is always someone worse out there. If the club goes with Todd you might find that out the hard way.

This is true. Good post.

I think the thing with Toovey, he got good results and he has a reputation as a tough-nosed coach. Getting driven out "by the players" is not something to necessarily hold against the coach, they don't have to love him.

Look at Manly anyway since Toovey left, just falling right away. I'd be ok with someone who put some fear into the players.

Surely the club would appoint an interim coach while they take their time to settle on the permanent one. Unless they have been secretly negotiating with a coach, I'd think that Webster, Stringer or Sandercock would be able to take control until a permanent appointment is made.

Of course, this could still be a beat up by Rothfield to again show the club in a poor light; it wouldn't be the first time.

lol… A New Coach will fix us?!

Looks like another 3 years of "[coach] inherited this squad" from our board etc.

Our problem is Structure & Stock… Nothing will change without NEW Stock!

With only 8 current contracted players beyond this year ..it shouldn't be an issue for a new Coach so I don't see where the 3 Years are coming from Stock wise…?

Phil Rothfield is the epitome of fake news. That and the fact that he hates WT says it all. Still, any fool can see the end of JT as our coach, so he doesn't even need a scoop to be confident of being right.

Theres multiple issues around the club, do they think getting rid of one bloke will change everything?

Yes, if the article is accurate it will help retain four players who we do need to build a team around. Payten has been mentored by Tim Sheens and apparently is keen to be coach at WTs. In the current situation that has to be a good thing.

Signing Cleary won't solve issues over night. It might give the players a lift and it might make us more attractive to players on the open market, but in regards to on field, it will be pretty similar to what we're already seeing. He'd need an offseason to implement his structures and ideas. If this year is just used as a stepping stone to being big movers in the player market and knowing Cleary will have an off season under his belt, well then bring it on.

You're right in that it's not a silver bullet. But in a year where most of the talent is unsigned for next year as they're holding off for the cap increase, it's certainly handy to have a coach at the helm that players may want to come to the club and play under. Especially if he gives the current squad a lift and they get interim results. If he can show he's heading the right way in his first year then he's already miles ahead of JT.

That's the only thing to be excited about but we will find a way to mess it up and pay overs for "potential" and leave positions filled with plodders.
The big 4 myth will doom us to another dry run with no accountability.
No coach can make those kids tackle.

Thank you Lord, finally I can renew my family membership when this happens.

When JT made the silly remarks to the tune of not being upset with the boys effort and that he doesn't determine his opinion based on results after we got flogged in his first year of coaching us during a presser. I promised my self to not renew my membership until Jason Taylor is gone.

The day is near…...

Just sack him now and be done with it, should rename him to Jason "I coach 35 min only' Taylor)

The team sucks, has scored one Intercept try in the last 200 mins of game time.
team can't tackle
team can't kick
Team can't hold the ball
Team can't stop letting more then 2 trys in 5 mins before halftime including a guy with a Torn ACL.

Teams a joke and wooden spoon bound

we will beat the storm this week then lose to the dragons by 40, that is the tigers in a nutshell.
''

Agree JTs time is up….but in his defense, maybe the players ability would have to be questioned if Taylors coaching ability is......

Did you see those four players play yesterday? I'm not convinced I want half of them.

Appointing Payten will see us be another Dragons…with their appointment of McGregor as HC...out of his depth

If nothing else, when (not if) he goes, we can get into some decent threads without the same guys saying he is a maggot, insipid, i told you so, i knew he was crap and no one else did sso im a legend, blah blah blah.

And if we go better, thats great!

If this is indeed true, I do expect a turn around.
Look at Leicester, the players needed a shakeup, coach didn't bring in enough new blood and was too Loyal, then they sack the coach and the team start winning and playing like they did the season before.

I know many on here dislike Taylor immensely, and whilst I have never been a fan, I believe the coach should be entitled to do what he sees fit and the players should go out and bust a gut every week for themselves and for us the fans.

We need someone who will come in an drop the rabble if they don't perform, no matter of reputation.

They'll go well.

Where there's smoke there's fire..

Can we please never roll out this worn cliche again? No where there's smoke there isn't always fire, sometimes it looks like smoke but actually it's something different like steam or dry ice or another chemical reaction.

In a serious thread, this made me laugh because i was thinking the same thing. Great stuff.
Could also be very light mist or a low cloud if you are up in the mountains.

Punctuation is key here.

"They'll go. Well….."

Actually, I take back what I said about Clearly. Toovs is the man, as long as he is allowed to run the team without interference.

Our problems are lack of effort, intensity and accountability, and indifference. The solution is far greater effort, intensity and accountability, and a massively angry little man to put the fear of god into the players.

The players need to fear leaving the field more than anything that could possibly happen on it. All the strategy and tactics in the world cannot fix an indifferent attitude.

Wests Tigers need a wrecking ball, and that man is Geoff Toovey. :rant :rant :rant :rant :rant :smiling_imp:
