Wests Tigers star Robbie Farah dropped from NRL to reserve grade

Oh the joys of being a Wests Tigers supporter. Like others have mentioned a loss to the Dragons will be a kick in the teeth for JT, and should stamp his termination letter.

Wests Tigers can confirm that Robbie Farah will not play for the Club’s first-grade team on Sunday against the St. George-Illawarra Dragons.

Head Coach Jason Taylor informed Farah on Wednesday that he will not be in the NRL team to face St. George-Illawarra this Sunday.

“This was not an easy decision to make, but **I have selected the 17 players that I believe will give the Club the best chance of victory against the Dragons**,” Taylor said.

“Robbie is understandably disappointed, but I have spoken at length with him that **he will be given every opportunity to regain his position in the NRL team**."

Farah will play for the Club’s Intrust Super Premiership team on Saturday, July 23 against Newtown Jets at Leichhardt Oval.

Does anybody seriously believe this?
Petty decisions like these that hurt the club should have the board making a few calls - they are there to make the place a stronger entity.
Would love to see what happens if Halatau slips over and twists his ankle this week.

So is Cherrington being added to the NRL side?

I was a bit puzzled when I saw Joel Edwards at 18 in the squad announced yesterday.

Is Taylor telling us that Edwards on the bench and Halatau/ET at hooker is a better option than Farah?

Without Cherrington being given a promotion, the thinking behind it seems unfathomable.

ugh the Wests Tigers facebook page…............"supporters" on their saying "Go Dragons"............seriously any so-called supporter saying that needs to go support someone else.

There's other players in our team besides Robbie and "supporters" want to see them beaten......

So who and where are Reggie's playing?

Newtown at Leichhardt 3pm Saturday..

I can see the reasoning behind this decision now - Wests are running 4th and Newtown only 1 point behind in 5th. A win here will see Wests jump 2 points clear in 4th spot - a very shrewd selection dropping a SOO player back.

Well Woods has copped it for taking over the captaincy, anyone who's play at hooker has copped it aswell so i can see some serious desthriding going on for the rest of the season.

I can cop this on 2 conditions

1\. The playing group doesn't get lost over this and they throw in the towel. It would be criminal, and if they do, heads need to roll at the end of the yr, that's non negotiable.

2\. ET doesn't dragged back into the hooking rotation. Halatau and either Cherrington/Liddle.

Taylor is about get punched again i reckon

Im bitterly disappointed and upset to say the least

Potter forced Benji out , Taylor will force Robbie much to the delight of some here but this is NO Way to treat him..

I can still remember when Lewis got the sack at the Broncos

Bennett copped it polls ran at 97% to have him sacked, Kevie Walters copped it ,Gene Miles the same

Tigertorch claimed a few days ago that JT picks the team and Mark ONeill retains the right to veto team selections. If that is true, then dont all bleat at the coach. Others obviously have the same thoughts.

Having said that, in this and every team, NO ONE has the right to expect guaranteed selection every week. This includes Robbie Farah. The coaches job is on the line and he is employed to and has every right to select the team he wants.

Only time will tell if it is a good move. The coach will live and die by the sword. Every coach lives this way each and every week.

Maybe JT just doesn't want Farah to play his 250th at LO? We all know Farah has special feelings for that ground.

This is pretty funny. Funnier still is that I wouldn't be surprised if JT came out and said well this was all part of the masterplan.

I don't know how true this is but I heard that Buckets isn't a great fan of R Farah either

This could be as much both Taylor and O'Neill as anything else

Maybe TT can elaborate ??

I reckon JT is all over this. I doubt it was O'Neill but who knows. I just think it is another dumb decision amongst a lot of dumb decisions.

Regardless of what people may or may not think of Robbie this is nothing more than an atrocious decision by an inept coach who lacks basic people management skills. A decision like this would never be made by a strong club. I'd imagine the playing group would be affected by this.

Wests tigers will never attract quality players when they treat a club legend so poorly.

Cant wait to see the back of the scarecrow

If this truly is the decision that JT has made then he has put everything on the line here. If we win and make a late charge to finals…okay fine, he made the call and it paid off. If we don't then he needs to be held accountable for dumping the NSW SOO hooker to regains when our season was on the line.

Either way, Farah deserves better than this treatment

someone needs to be sacked and it is not Robbie. He is good enough for NSW but not for the Tigers decision makers. Elijah Taylor is great at lock, not good enough at hooker, Dean Halatau is a great allrouder who fills in superbly.he is leaving at the end of the year, they want to get rid of Robbie, look out Chris Lawrence it seams premiership winners are not wanted - you will be next. Disgraceful. My father was a leichhardt wanderer, and I have been a supporter all my life - never have I been so disappointed (well not since they got rid of Benji). Loyalty is DEAD
