Glad to see McGuire not afraid to make changes. Hope McQueen plays well first up after long spell. Billy playing in the 6 will get lit of publicity with playing the Bronx.

We've been hoping for this from McQueen for 3 years now and he hasn't delivered...don't hold your breath!

To be honest, he has not let us down in the past when called up. Hopefully he can handle the job until someone better is available.

Yeah when he has played it’s not like he’s been bad. He’s been alright issue is Ivan gave him too much money.

I think anyone questioning if Madge has written this season off is kidding themselves, they are professional athletes that want to win!

He is making changes on performance with one thing in mind, finding the best team available

Watching this team struggle to make the eight - year after year - is seriously like watching a train-wreck. What's the saying.....the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.
I love that Madge is big on accountability and believes in them more than themselves or us.
IDC if our roster is nowhere near one of the best on paper but more that we aren't competitive enough to make the 8.
This team has a way of losing games themselves solely due to their own attitudes.
I couldn't be more supportive of his new selection methods as it sets a standard that will also benefit this club's/team's future.

To the comments re😛acker, we don't know how he's doing in training. And unfortunately he is the only player in the team with a bit of mongrel and is clearly being included due to TPJ.

Mayby Madge has realised that this season is unlikely to go the distance and is trying all his options to see what works best for next year when we will actually have a finals series

I hope not. Abandoning the season when we’re in the top 8 would be pretty poor.

But it would be poetic if it robbed Parra’s best chance of a premiership in 35 years.

Haha yeah.

At 400k a season(reportedly when JT was signing him) he has been a complete failure.3 years of failure

Yes jadtiger,in many eyes he is a failure, however he had a horrendous injury to overcome and doesnt let us down to badly when he gets called up...look at Rowdy how his form has been since his horrific injury, but he did play extremely well back in the centres the other night against the Rabbits...maybe McQueen can do the same this week when we need him to..

I agree 100%. The team has lost any mongrel since Musgrove got injured. Just worried that the repeat sets from ruck infringements that we always seem to give away will find him out even more than what he has been in the last few years

This Brisbane team relies on 4 players TPJ, Staggs, Fifita, Haas. 2/4 are missing and I suspect Packer and TPJ will both be sent off in the first 20.

We have to win this game. Benji at 7 is the best move. For some reason we always struggle with the Broncos.

I watched the Broncs game last week and they were awful. The only thing that saved them was that the bulldogs were just diabolical. They seem to be a team of supreme athletes but lack a quality spine making them largely ineffectual. That won’t change this week and without Staggs and Fifita, I think they will struggle again.

Confidence is an amazing thing .....one win can turn a season around

Sadly, in the case of our team, one win usually guarantees a loss the following week.

Oof, sorry on paper this looks like a pretty average team. Wins are possible but hard to come by. Reminds me of West's Tigers first few years. Good luck boys! Punch above your weight 👍👌

Same. Just quietly.
Madge is really knuckling down with his expectations from the team. Think it's no coincidence we're seeing certain players now getting another opportunity, as it's more important we find winning combinations rather than just giving all squad members much needed game time.
Plus it also obviously gives him an inkling of possible recruitment targets.

I see Blore made the extended team, so surely fans aren't waiting too much longer to see what type of player he is....and how he fits into the our future plans.

McQueen is actually on $450k
Packer is on $750k a season
We have $1.2m tied up in non performing players.
Till we get the roster right and stop over paying players we will never be a Top 4/8 team however Madge is smarter than other coaches prior.

There is no "actually on" - nobody knows for sure. Unless you work for the Tigers or you are the player himself, his wife or his manager.

Giving you the facts exactly what there on as in the know, that's all i am going to say your choice to believe or not, McQueen will looking for an English contract next season and needs some game time, former Souths player and Madge will look after him if 50/50 on a bench position nil issue with that as long as performs.

Packer well another year on his contract, work with the younger players or hopefully off load him at season end and support maybe $350k/$400k of current agreement think would be the plan.

Personally i rather not say 1st or 2nd hand, but sometimes like all information comes from either source. I take an active interest more so now that Semi retired before 60 and have always been involved in sport and businesses related interests on an executive/owner level.

I am also not hesitant to voice my concerns now on this forum as a way of venting sometimes, and when i know reliable information happy to share as long as does not compromise my sources, plus we have under performed for years.

In relation to what players are paid most players have a rough idea what each are on yours was a good estimate of $400k just thought i would correct for all forum members not being a smart ass and add what Packer is being paid, shows how poorly we managed negotiations prior?

Think we both agree that having an additional $450k to spend on other players for next season will give us better quality, combine that with the penalties imposed for the Robbie Farah ambassador role penalty of $670k for 2019/2020 we should also have an additional $335k next year plus any players off contract not kept.

I am sure with Madge steering the squad and making those on long term contracts like Brooks aware you can be dropped will ensure players earn there right to wear the jersey on behalf us long term supporters and make us all proud.
Hell we might even play finals football next year - this year unsure after Souths game will know better this week, Roster is thin with injuries and lack of depth.

we had a fast reliable cory thomson who is too short and gets high kicks aimed at him. now we have tall but slow full back. two extremes.

Agree there he certainly runs slow but he does hot the line hard and is not pushed back, will give him credit he does not make mistakes under the high balls, but sometimes caught out of position.
Long term i don't think Madge will preserve will F/Back but right now is our most viable option. Liked Thompson however not in long term plans.

Agree Madge is hamstrung by an average roster but changing everything every week only compounds issues. I said when Benji was dropped it was the first bad move by Madge. Now Benji's back and it's brooks' turn. Whatever you think of brooks, he's one of our top two halves so Madge can't seem to find a way to get either brooks or Benji to play the way he likes, doesn't inspire confidence. I feel like we're watching this season fall apart and perhaps the end of Madge. Hope I'm wrong and this works, but I don't see it.
