Can't understand why Simpkin would be left out.

I left Leichhardt thinking Packer had earned a bench spot. Also thought Simpkin and Simpkins would be in there. Don’t think they’ll have to wait long.

Interestingly McIntyre can't make the top 17 for the Titans. I'd much prefer him in our 17 than Packer.

He was never going to make their 17 - was only signed as a backup. No way would i have him over a fit and motivated Packer - hopefully thats who turns up on Sunday.

Looks like the writing is on the wall for Mbye. Laurie gets first crack to make the number 1 his. With Douehi back in rnd 2 to move in to the 6 you would have to think Mbye to 14.

Mate , he can do some damage around tired defences , and be solid defensively in the halves , or even act as the 13/ link man role if we want to go small ball style . Mbye is going to be awesome in the 14 IMO. The team , with AD at 6 looks like everyone is where they’re supposed to be . We don’t have centres playing wing , 6 playing 1 or 9 , middles on the edge etc .

Big test of Mbyes defense against a mobile Raiders pack. Might settle the arguments about his defensive capabilities.

shame about Simpkin hope he doesn't get disenchanted if his time doesn't come
Tommy talau a strange one but like Mmbye at 6 we should hold our own against raiders

Disenchanted? Hes 19 years old. Hel be fine. Mbye can cover 9 so Talau is a better choice on the bench.

Also he is contracted until end of 2022, there is plenty of time. Tigers have made their intent clear giving him ample field time in both trials and he is Top 30.

No real surprises with that team IMO. Packer's experience gets him a run since Musgrove is suspended. Yeah, I'll be stunned if he makes more than 30 metres in attack but young Tuki will be a work in development and it seems the club is content to keep Tuilagi on his development contract for now.

Packer will want to make more than 30 meters
I want to see him play with more intention and aggression
Forget the decoys
Get that ball and hit the line
And hit it hard
We need to try and take the sting out of their forwards
Packer should be used as a battering ram
If we get on top up front it will go a long way to winning
I like the fact we have Mbye, Talau and Laurie all in the side
It give madge options in the game to mix it up a little if needed
I hope Liddle can play the 80
Shifting Laurie to the Halves with 20 to go when the forwards are getting tired could work well if that's the plan

When Talau comes on where does he go ?
In the Halves ?
Or does Madge consider putting Roberts at the back and shift Talau to the centres ?
It's a long shot but possible especially if Mbye goes down with a calf strain

At the end of the day I just want a good showing and would like our team in the game all game
Canberra have been a bogey side for us and that needs to change
It starts this weekend

One my friends who is a saints fan reckons he was the laziest defender and had a poor work rate. 1 year later I’m having the last laugh

for the 1st time in a long time we actually have a big mobile forward pack and same as bench..
Coach clearly has size for a reason and game plan is to go hard the whole game so we can use our Speed in our backs... IF we can keep the go forward throughout the game it will do wonders for our halves and backs. We have never had a big team like this and cannot wait for the season to start.

Plus let's not forget we actually have quality back ups in most areas..

The only odd thing about Talau on the bench is so far he's only played wing and centre, unless I'm mistaken. It'd be a good wrong-un to pitch at the Raiders as they probably wont expect it if Mbye goes to D/H and he slots in at 5/8th, but does anyone know if he's done any training there?

It’s lateral that’s his issue not his front on contact . Maybe his knee was the cause . He’s had it fixed this off season , so we will see . Here’s hoping.

Would like to have seen Tuki in the team, but otherwise it looks pretty good to me.

He is young, his time will come later this year as it will for others.You cant fit the entire squad into 21

I can understand the disappointment people are showing about some players that have not been included in the initial squad of 21.

This just goes to show the talent and depth we have available this season and is emphasized even further by two players that one would expect to be walk up starts in Adam Doueihi and Zane Musgrove who are unavailable due to suspension.
