unfortunately Kepoa was one we got wrong

I'll cop that. Especially as AJ isn't on much

fair enough, can't fault Hartigan's recruitment apart from kepoa

Can someone verify for me, I have a memory of several players making debut for Tigers off the reserves list? My memory says Madge likes to not name the rookies then promote them, keep them out of the press for the week.

No way to verify my assumption online as they only record the actual teams that took to the field in the databases.

I do think Simpkin is a smoky because Liddle simply can't go 80 and with a 4-forward bench, the only other option is moving Mbye out of centres for a stretch, subbing with MCK. That's an awkward swap.

Personally I am reminded of 2015 when we had a similar rough trot then played out the infamous "Taylorball" loss to Cowboys in the rain at Campbelltown. If such a thing would happen again, the only upside would be watching with some bittersweet amusement as the forum goes into meltdown.

A few interesting stats:
- we are on a 4-match winning streak vs Cowboys, which extends to 6 matches streak if you only take Sunday matches
- Tigers have all-time best win record against Cowboys (55%) and one of only 4 sides against whom we have a winning record
- Tigers have won 8/9 against Cowboys at Leichhardt (6/9 at CSS)
- Madge has not lost to Cowboys since taking over at Tigers, but had a surprisingly bad record with Souths only winning 3/11 against Cowboys

Can we pass around a hat to get him some grippo for his mits?

I thought Mikaele had one of his best games and played as good as most of the forwards.

Why you would want to drop him I just can't fathom.

feel like we might see the man in jersey 18 make his debut this week. good selections Madge.

I hope so, otherwise when Liddle has a rest and Mbye goes to hooker, we have MCK at centre, surely the hell not

You want three of our players to fail their HIA, just so you can keep MCK out of the centres.

Fairly drastic I'd say.

My side would.look like so,

1. Adam Doueihi
2. David Nofoaluma
3. Moses Mbye
4. James Roberts
5. Tommy Talau
6. Daine Laurie (let the kid roam ala Luai @ Penrith).
7. Luke Brooks
8. Zane Musgrove
9. Jacob Liddle
10. James Tamou (capt.)
11. Luke Garner
12. Joe Ofahengaue
13. Luciano Leilua (we need a dynamic #13, one whom can roam each side of the ruck).

Interchange:
14. MCK
15. Thomas Mikaele
16. Stefano Utoikamanu
17. Alex Twal

Great that AJ was dropped, hopefully Talau will have a better game out on the wing.

I don't think it was great. He gave it his best at this stage.

Thanks AJ - I'm sure you'll be back.

That will mean we are going worse that we currently are or have a major injury to our wingers....hope we don't see him again this year tbh

I think he's been OK. I think we have 5 middle forwards in Tamou/Musgrove/Twal/Joe/Stefano which are sufficient and ahead of him.

Garner/LL need a rest, they've become very lazy in the last 20 almost every game. MCK allows us to cover the backs, replace the edge forwards and Simpkin obviously replaced Liddle.

This is one of the worst lineups I have seen! Why would you play people out of position and move our combinations around?

Two major changes happened that I wanted: Mbye to centre and Kepaoa dropped.

Twal and Offa need to be swapped.

Simpkin and MCK to swap.

Twal isn't someone you want coming off the bench, really good work horse but won't break a game open. Ofahengaue is really suited to coming off the bench with his play style.

Move him to starting prop then and bring Musgrove off the bench, he would bring impact off the bench with Mikaele and Stef.

It could be a good opportunity to give Simpkin a run this week. You wouldn’t blood him against the Rabbitohs or Panthers, but a side like the Cows, he could easily make an impact.

Watched the knockout Cup, MCK looked like he belongs in that grade, made no impact at all.

Apparently he’s been linked to the Dogs. Would fit right in to that side.

Im not sold on Tamou, just yet but he may be worth more off the park than on it.

Laurie, Stefano and Ofa definitely

Thought his first stint on Monday was excellent. I think he’s warming to the task.

What are you talking about, where did I say that, I said this is what will happen when Liddle has a rest, which he will. MBye will go to hooker because we have no other options with that 17, and that leaves MCK to play in Mbye’s centre spot. No headbins, no injuries just bench rotation

Hopefully we don’t play in our shell and again the forwards are given the remit to offload. Against Parra loved it and made the game alot faster. I can’t see the cowboys keeping up with us if we do that.

Agree, Musgrave, Utoikamanu, and Amone are more of impact players, so I would start with Tamou/Twal, and Ophenague as lock.

The death of Tommy R just had me thinking I'd love our team to have the equivalent Wests forwards in the 70's- Donnelly, Brown, Gibbs, Foster, Boyd, Cooper, Luibinskis and O'Grady to name the main lot with Tommy directing from halfback. Every opposing team knew they were in for a battle and had to really earn a win. Respected and feared by many. These days, nah.

Common boys, man up for Tommy and give it to them.
