Wests Tigers Coach Michael Maguire has named his side to take on the North Queensland Cowboys for their Round 5 clash at Leichhardt Oval this Sunday.

After a close last-start defeat to the Parramatta Eels, Maguire has confirmed one change to the starting side with Moses Mbye named to start in the centres in place of Asu “AJ” Kepaoa.

His inclusion sees Tommy Talau shift from centre to wing while Michael Chee Kam comes on to the bench after strong back-to-back performances in the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup competition.

Rookie hooker Jake Simpkin and forward Tuki Simpkins — who joined Wests Tigers from North Queensland earlier this year — have been named among the reserves as part of the 21-man squad, alongside Joey Leilua and Alex Seyfarth.

Sunday’s game at Leichhardt Oval is the club’s first home game at the suburban ground this year, with a blockbuster four-game program set to take place. The club’s Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership, Jersey Flegg and Knock-On Effect NSW Cup sides will all feature earlier in the day before the NRL game between Wests Tigers and North Queensland kicks off at 4:05pm.

Wests Tigers have won their last eight games against the Cowboys played at Leichhardt Oval.

Short of Blore, this is just about the best team we can field at the moment. We should win against the Cowboys. If we don't, there will be a lot of murmurings inside and outside of WT headquarters. I'm confident we will win by 10 or more.

Two major changes happened that I wanted: Mbye to centre and Kepaoa dropped.

Twal and Offa need to be swapped.

Simpkin and MCK to swap.

Agree
Would also like Simpkins to come in for Mikaele

feel like we might see the man in jersey 18 make his debut this week. good selections Madge.

I hope so, otherwise when Liddle has a rest and Mbye goes to hooker, we have MCK at centre, surely the hell not

If we don’t win , It will be because the halves played crap , and I will join the bandwagon , as that cowboys team is beyond horrendous .

Cows look ok on paper

They do, but they're woefully out of form and most of their good players are in career worst form. The only they can win is if Taumalolo steamrolls us.

Mbye will do a job at centre, but were desperate for a quality winger..
Talau reasonably safe, but way too slow to be on the wing and NQ has some speedy outside backs which cld really expose him..again

AJ gone, that's a positive. Would've liked Jake on the bench. But, shouldn't be too far off. Bring on the cows.

Moses will kill it at Centre and will stay there for a while i think as defence is so much better for us.
I like TT on the wing as well and feel more confident.

Happy with the team overall except I would swap MCK for Jake Simpkin 1 hour before kickoff. What does concern me is the Cows team looks pretty good and we have a knack of losing to teams we should beat.. Jason T is also back which concerns me as well.

So much for having a fast winger

Put Jet on the wing!

Is Mbye selected to showcase his ability? Anyway good luck to him he has always spoken well of WTs and moving to NQ will be a positive lifestyle change for his family.

I see the world just gained another endangered species

The Brooks seagull ...a flighty bird not known for its intelligence ....although it hangs around in groups it has no comprehension of leading the group in anyway that it is supposed to ...its is valued for its bobble head by hunters

I agree on Brooks but having a Bare cupboard to select from he will hold his spot all season unless someone appears from the genie bottle ..i am more concerned about a couple of others that definitely should be in the Reggie's but are obvious favourites .

Surely we at least give Mbye one shot at the 7 role ...played some 7 at the Dogs .....solid defender ...has a kicking game ....reasonably quick

He doesn’t see any ball now, so putting him on the wing will assure he’s completely left out of the game! It boggles the mind that we aren’t getting much ball to the one player in our three quarter line, who has the potential to blow the game wide open. It’s like putting a shiny Porsche in your garage and never driving it!

Yep, the NSW Cup halves are really not NRL standard, we have Mbye and a busted Walters as our halves back up as it stands

It does my head in why we don't try get JTJ clear ball on the outside of his man, it is pretty simple stuff really, surely between our 2 halves we can sort it, it's not rocket science
