Wests Tigers Team v Cowboys Rd 5

Gee Wiz if we don't win Sunday we will be copping it from the media and supporters ..

At the 8th Wonder of the world, Tommy Raudonikis send off, Against a team that is winless and out of sorts, Main game on 9 as well...

If we are serious we should win and win well but we are good at not turning up against lower teams... This is a game changer and will tell us a lot..

we don't have a good recent history of turning up for games we need to win at leichhardt

Well luckily this particular game is not be-all-end-all.

We also have won 8/9 against Cowboys at Leichhardt.

Which history prevails?

That is a fact and another fact is we have a higher win ratio at Leichhardt than we do at any other home ground.

Any chance at all Simpkin gets a run ? Maybe Mikalele drops out ? I don’t see Chee Kam , as he can play on the edges .

No chance mikaele is the one that gets dropped! Bloke is all impact, can’t sacrifice that of the bench! We need the meters up front.

Seriously ? Uto and Joe , are doing well for a big second stint , and Mika comes on in the 50th for 15 minutes . Yea it’s impact , but it’s not like he’s throwing guys flying , and busting heads . It seems the most expendable for a gun dummy half IMO.

I don’t know what games your watching but we aren’t thrashing other packs! We need the 3rd big fella on the bench. Forwards decide the game! The halves and spine decide by how much.

Pathetic if we don't win by 30.

I'm inclined to agree. If we don't show aggression in this game and punch holes through the Cowboys then the team deserves to fail.

Wests Tigers Coach Michael Maguire has paid tribute to the late Tommy Raudonikis as a true character of the game as his side prepare to honour the halfback this Sunday at Leichhardt Oval.

With Raudonikis' iconic number seven jersey to be rested across all grades on the day, Maguire recognised the Western Suburbs' legend importance to Wests Tigers today and spoke about the emotion that will be felt tomorrow afternoon.

"It'll be a great day for rugby league," Maguire reflected ahead of his side's Round 5 clash against the Cowboys.

"It's really important that we take the time to celebrate Tommy.

"He's a great man and I've been fortunate to spend some time with him over the years. He was a great character and he was a player that everyone not only wanted to play with but also be around. That's what made him so special.

"We're very honoured to be able to honour him throughout the day," he said.

"It's a special moment for the club and we've got to make sure we handle the emotion of that day right. But what we're confident we'll do is use what's in the air and around on the day to put our a great performance on the park."

With a capacity crowd expected to fill the suburban ground once again on Sunday, Maguire said it was important to utilise the energy to his side's advantage on the weekend as they look to secure their first victory at home this year.

"It's a great experience as a Coach to see a packed crowd," Maguire enthused.

"You walk out and there's a lot of energy in the crowd and everyone seems to enjoy coming there because it's a boutique little ground with a few beers on the hill.

"For us, it's a special place and so is Campbelltown. We're fortunate that we're spread throughout a number of areas and can have some special grounds."

Off the back of a close but disappointing defeat to Parramatta on Easter Monday, the Wests Tigers Coach believes his side are building a sound platform for the year ahead but emphasised the need to persevere for longer periods of time.

"The areas of our game are improving but we've got to be able to sustain that for longer and better periods of time," Maguire said.

"We need to build more pressure in attack to put teams under the pump, but when the game turns and the momentum swings we need to handle that better.

"No matter what's in front of you in a game you've got to be able to handle those situations and that's where we're at as a team.

"We're not getting the results and everyone sees the result as the outcome," he added. "But what we're doing and what we're building as a group, there's a lot of good signs — we just need to keep doing that over the 80 minutes.

"We've had some big games over the past month and there's times we could have been a lot better and taken better opportunities or built pressure.

"We need to keep doing that over and over to become the team we can be."

If last year is any indication, I would say no. Madge is getting Simpkin and Simpkins in the 21, letting them experience game day, warming up expecting to play but only there for injury cover.
I dare said they will both get a chance in a couple weeks though. Mikaele appears to be the odd man out at the moment, and Mbye could be gone next week...

I don't see Mikaele developing as many would have hoped. His size coupled with his inability to get angry in a hit up reminds me of a later stage tony williams....

We need our forwards to run with aggression intent and purpose
They need to start getting angry and hit that defensive line hard
Just imagine if Mikaele Ofahengaue Musgrove and Blore all ran with the aggression of Brown
The difference that would make to or team and Meters gained would be immense
Sometimes it looks as though our guys just go through the motion
Someone needs to get these guys together and mold them into fierce pack
Madge should get Spud carrol and the Cheif in
I know they were never part of our club but these guys went at it every game
These are players to remember
If our players want to be remembered for the way they played, they need to put their body's on the line

For Brooks and Mybe this isn't a game, its a job application, they should have blinders, just put them in as my anytime try scorers, 8:1

Do any of our guys know where the back fence is?

They need to start running off it, oh, and it would help if they caught the ball as well.

As we get closer to Sunday I feel more nervous than anything...

If we lose, I’ll tune out of the forums and go into a slumber for a few weeks I think hahah..

This is a game we need to win, and win big!

Anything less than a blow out in our favour is unacceptable, but this is the Wests Tigers and nothing is a surprise when it comes to under performing.

Now that's what I want to see

well said!!!! there is no anger or violence in our pack...

Just pondering..would Tommy want a minute's silence or a minute of a full house cheering for what he has done for league???

Simpkin and Simpkins drop off reserves..Seyfarth and Leilua remain..

I've seen a few news places and even commentators saying we are wearing western suburbs jerseys tomorrow? I thought we were just wearing our black jersey instead of our orange ones?
