If I look objectively at the 17 it’s arguably the worst Tigers side I’ve ever seen.

Overdramatic. How's this one, Rd 19 2002, 46-14 loss to Broncos:

1. Daniel Fitzhenry
2. Hassan Saleh
3. Kevin McGuinness
14. Lincoln Withers
5. Makasini Richter

6. John Wilson
7. Ben Jeffries

8. Trent Runciman
9. Darren Senter (c)
10. John Skandalis
11. Anthony Laffranchi
12. Willie Manu
13. Ben Galea

15. Robert Mears
16. Steven Crouch
17. Mark O'Neill
18. Luke O'Donnell

Better forwards perhaps back then though tbh. But the backs were terrible 😛

And even then the forward pack was average, a couple years away from hitting any heights.

That is one poor side on paper and struggle to beat State Cup sides.

It's an interesting one. Senter, Skando, Buckets, Benny G all established and mostly under-rated footballers at this time, dependable without having that next level of class about them. I've always been a huge fan of Benny G as an all-around footballer.

Laffranchi and Manu were only in their first full season and still very green. Pre-rep Luke O'Donnell was a liability at times. I quite liked Robert Mears but he just never cemented his spot. Crouch and Runciman bog average. Corey Pearson didn't play this game but I always like his ability with the ball.

The other missing forwards were Steve Trindall, who I thought was a good signing but couldn't recapture his Bears / Neagles form; barely played in 2002. Also "Try Scoring Machine" Troy Wozniak , who I was a big fan of. Chris "The Pillow" Paterson rounded out the depth chart.

The current pack has more upside, particularly in attack, if comparatively lacking for starch and week-on-week toughness. Not enough "old heads" currently, but that's the price you pay sometimes when you invest heavily in the future, because our future-looking forward pack is potentially very good.

Surprised about Garner, leading forward try scorer and hardly misses, strong front on defender, was best running off Brooks.

The move to the right hand side has hurt him, has not been having as much impact running the ball and isn’t built to do the tough stuff out of our own end. McIntyre has been killing it too

It's his involvement that hurts him. He's got a lot of the old Luke Brooks about him - really effective when he chooses to get involved, very capable front-on defender, but can be a real arm-grabber laterally.

At one point last week Garner totally wound up and made a line break, almost crossed the try line. But his involvement seems to dip in and out, and it seems clear that Madge is asking for and awarding consistency of effort in this side.

Mbye had to be dropped. I like what Madge is doing but you can’t put up with poor form from your captain.

Well not surprised Madge found a new position for him, i do hope that both centre's perform so he is not back there the following week and dropped.
He will have to work extremely hard this week something i am afraid he might not be use too, his defense usually is solid so i give him a tick there.
Back up option is Walters, Harry did look like needed a rest.

I hope to see BJ and Tom T get plenty of ball from the halves in this game,I also think that Brooks will be able to run hard and have Tom and BJ suporting him and they all create havoc in the backline...this will be Brooks time to show us if he is a 7 or a running 6 that we all have asked for...

interesting game to watch I reckon and hopefully we will be back to our best defense and attack ...

Anyone got any inside info on Garner?

Is he carrying an injury?
Not happy?

Something is up because he's half the player he was

A few on here are happy that Garner got dropped, but he's be entitled to feel disappointed in my opinion.

Played 80 minutes. He made 46 tackles and missed 2. 10 hitups for 87 metres.

Luciano played 80 and made 9 hitups for 83 metres...33 tackles with 1 missed.

Don't understand Madge's issue with Garner.

Madge was always Garner drop someone after last week's performance ??
Luciano scores tries and is more likely
I think Pierce will pepper our debutant and Talau which is a worry
I hope they are up to it in defence
I am also hoping our young guys unleash some magic
We need another Blore moment from our newest edition

If you watch the Highlights from the game you will see Garner's defense on more than one occasion lead to them scoring.
He seems to be in and out of the team and i think Madge might be thinking that might be a player to move on unless improves although did resign him.

Yes if nothing else we get to see a few young guys get a chance to push for starting roles in 2021.

Seriously can someone please just bloody rig it so that Maguire can go on a ridiculous spending spree and get away with it?!
I honestly don’t care if in three years time we get found out for deception and get points docked - even retrospectively!!
Just for Chrissakes get some decent players and a bloody kicker Madge!!!!!!!!!!!

Argh ive taken angry pills tonight. Sorry!!!

Remember that time we signed Mbye and thought we were moving up in the recruitment world.

Ha! That’s funny cos Yes I do!
What the hell happened to Mbye?
He actually was not actually this bad before!

I don’t think anyone knew Mbye was on massive dollars though. For the right price he’s a good signing, was going well for bulldogs at fullback, started well for us there then start of 2019 he couldn’t catch a ball. The rest of his game at fullback is quite good

You must be watching different games to me. Mbye has been the same for the last 6 years. I watch plenty of dogs games he was the same inconsistent, occasional blinder but poor defence and lax attitude I know Dogs were cheering to let him go to us. It was a panic buy as was Packer, Matulino, Reynolds. He was always at best a utility as at the Dogs James Graham did the ball playing.

We’re stuck with the player and the deal best case is bench utility or gone.

Think he did have a good half season when 1st signed.
Problem is on top $ does not have to worry if dropped or not unless looking for a new contract. Played poor this year only aimed up in 2 games and his goal kicking is a good indication of his overall game, gets some great ones from the sideline and misses the sitters. I am surprised not dropped however do like the new centre pairing, he always seems to find a way to be included in the team....

Interested to see the backline this week and Mbye at 9 - could be a bit of an insight into next seaosn. IMO Mbye is a 14 - cover's every position in the spine and centre.

Next season I'd be moving Douihi to 6 and going hard for Scott Drinkwater for #1 - seems he'll be surplus for them with Holmes, Hamiso, Clifford & Morgan on the books. Alternatively, trying to swap Reynolds for Nick Meaney at the dogs could work - he also kicks.

The club had ASU listed as 185cm and 89kgs. That’s 2cm shorter and 4kgs lighter then Reece Hoffman, who looked small in his debut

He looks a lot taller and heavier then that in the nsw cup highlights we’ve seen

Yeah from what I’ve read he’s a similar build to Dan Tupou who’s 196cm and 105kgs

He not quiet be those stats but looks closer to that then his listed ones on our website

If our left side of Asu and Talau work well (I really hope they do) then I reckon Mbye will end up at 14. He’d be a good 14 too.

Not a bad side considering the tigers circumstances. Twal and Grant are a given and would come straight into the side. This would impact on Mybe who in my opinion is not a player that deserves run on but can contribute from the bench in covering a number of positions, just as Qld SOO was using him. After this week time for Madge to move on and relinquish the captain role from him and bench him as a permanent number 14.

Great post about Mumbai but he somehow always finds himself in the starting team covering some position. Note also Benji is listed as Captain this week...
Agree this season way is playing is basically a bench player and team would be better off if he was taking MCK position on bench for rest of season.

We should also find out about Brooks at 5/8 and see how he performs although i think that he has used his lifelines up over many seasons now and is part of the issue we don't play finals being half back.

Our forwards should match there's and packer will bring a bit of mongrel lets hope he stays on the park? New Centre pairing will be interesting.

So odds are us @ $2.35 with line +3.5 $1.95
Last time we played them let in too many points and were targeted BJ/Nofo side don't think that will happen again, could sneak a win but will be close.
Good omen both Marshall/Lawrence playing 250 games, boys will want a win.
Not getting hopes up Top 8 unless we string 3 in a row.
Will always watch with interest - Go Tigers.....Like the side.

How do you solve an expensive problem like Mbye??

Nice bloke it seams and a Solid first grader without a real role. Add insult to injury that he is the current captain.
