Wests Tigers Team v Souths Rd 9

Sorry if it’s 1-17 I’m not keen to watch this week.
Poor centre pick and bench again very skinny.
I know w3 have injuries and a suspension but I can’t see us winning this one. Hope I’m wrong.

Honestly, I’d rather see Benji have a go there. Pretty sure he’s played centre one or twice before and looked pretty good. He still has speed and skill. Everyone will say his defence is bad, but hey we’re currently going to go into the game MCK there instead - is there any difference defensively?

If I was going to play Benji (or Hoffman), I wouldn't be naming him there yet.

Looks like a team without alot of pace. Hope Rabbitohs don't run too fast.

Rabbits are arguably the quickest backline in the NRL(outside the half)
Big problem....

Let's hope that's the case, but I won't hold my breath. As someone above just said Madge doesn't usually play games with team selections like some of our previous coaches did. What he names is what you usually get, barring any late injuries.

Wasn't Sam Mac named outside the 17 initially?

Yes you're right I think he was! Probably the case with introducing new guys into grade, so who knows we may see Hoffman there after all, though probably not Benji.

I don’t know what people are going on about seems a logical side to me, mck for BJ. Straight swap, Lawrence in for mck again straight swap. The remainder of the starting side and the bench same as last week ,so Y all the doom and gloom

Its a critical game in that its quite possibly a playoff for 8th slot all things considered.But...
1)Packer(suitably chastened)needs to be on the bench if were gonna make it to the 8.We need his size and (controlled) aggression, cause atm were just burning out Aloi and Luciano
2)Having let Cory go in the lilkihood of a bigger/faster player replacing him NOW(which clearly hasnt happened) we need more speed as well as size in the backline and need to gamble on one of the young wingers and Tapua in the centres

Yeah there’s not really any other options is there

Hopefully Luc is good to go. Have doubts about McIntyre playing.

McIntyre really got knocked out, not often you see a player looking the way he did and playing the next week. Similar for Lucy but I think that the concern was around his jaw, he will play.

Wests Tigers have been boosted by the inclusion of co-captain Moses Mbye, Luciano Leilua and Sam McIntyre for their Round 9 clash against the South Sydney Rabbitohs this Friday night.

After being helped from the field in last week's close loss to the Panthers, Leilua and McIntyre have both been named for this week's game as Wests Tigers look to consolidate their spot inside the top eight.

Mbye's inclusion is also a key one for Michael Maguire's side after a knee complaint last week prevented him from his regular goal-kicking duties.

With Joey Leilua suspended for the next four matches, Maguire has named Michael Chee Kam — who scored the match-winner last time the two sides met — as his replacement in the centres with Chris Lawrence coming on to the bench.

Rookie Reece Hoffman joins the reserves in place of Lawrence, where he joins Benji Marshall, Billy Walters and Russell Packer in the extended squad.

Wests Tigers will provide an updated 19-man squad on Thursday night, before finalising their side to take on the Rabbitohs at 6:55pm on Friday.

1 Adam Doueihi
2 David Nofoaluma
3 Micheal Chee-Kam
4 Moses Mbye
5 Tommy Talau

6 Josh Reynolds
7 Luke Brooks

8 Josh Aloiai
9 Harry Grant
10 Oliver Clark
11 Luciano Leilua
12 Luke Garner
13 Matt Eisenhuth

14 Elijah Taylor
15 Thomas Mikaele
16 Sam McIntyre
17 Chris Lawrence

18 Benji Marshall
19 Billy Walters
20 Reece Hoffman
21 Russell Packer

Expect changes ......

Dominate their forwards and don’t give their edges room to move easy

If we maintain the physicality of the past month our forwards will have a field day with the Souths pack.
Get them running sideways and their backs will fall apart. Reynolds and specifically Walker will throw in the towel after half an hour if they can't get forward movement.
