Rankin might not have the excitement factor of JAC but i think he's more reliable.
Pretty funny that a club that has as many hookers as we do needs to use Halatau as the starting #9

More reliable? How so?

Rankin is slow and makes more errors per game than Addo-Carr. I wouldn't say he's more reliable at all.

JAC has 5 errors from 5 games.
Rankin has 10 errors from 12 games.
So Addo-Car actually makes more errors per game.

I'd say Rankin is also the smarter footballer, he positions himself and reads the play much better than JAC does. And that's saying a lot considering this is Rankins first year on the wing, maybe playing fullback has helped him with that.

Rankin has improved a lot already this year and IMO deserves his spot in the team.

I was counting getting dragged back into your own in goal as well. Which would put Rankin ahead.
I disagree on Rankin with better positioning. All you've provided for is Rankin makes slightly less 'errors.'

I'd say in attack he is way off JAC. Why should JAC be dropped?

How has Rankin improved? In what galaxy has he improved? Theres a good reason as to why he only played 17 games of first grade for GOLD COAST of all clubs in 5 years.

Utility reserve grader .. at best.

**_All you've provided for is Rankin makes slightly less 'errors.'_**
Which is a fair rebuttal when your main argument in favour of JAC was that he makes less errors.
I disagree that Rankin gets dragged back in goal more often. That seems to happen a fair bit with Addo-Carr.

**_How has Rankin improved? In what galaxy has he improved?_**
If you can't see the improvement in Rankin then you must have watched every game from level 6 at ANZ Stadium. His positional play is much better than it was in Round 1, his combination with Simona has looked better every week that he plays.
He's also been great under the high ball.

**_Theres a good reason as to why he only played 17 games of first grade for GOLD COAST of all clubs in 5 years._**
Maybe because much of that time he was a 16/17/18 year old playing in the halves…

_**Utility reserve grader .. at best.**_
You must have something personal against him...

Well why don't you enlighten us all with your prophetic wisdom why don't you.

Never said I was full of wisdom mate… Just getting sick of the whinging purely based on Taylor hatred.... The bloke had an opportunity to sign with "his beloved tigers" and he went for more cash, too bad so sad. Enjoy reserve grade and let fans watch a bloke who is committed to OUR team.... It's simple really. But really, keep whinging.... It might help change the selection.

He's been here less than a year, why should the Tigers be so beloved to him lol?

Nonetheless if another club offered you **significantly** more coin and first grade security (and a proven better coach/team but never mind that) why would you not go?

Guarantee end of next year we will lose 1-2 out of Woods, Tedesco, Brooks, Moses. Should we just drop them all to reserve grade now because undoubtedly at least 1-2 will leave next year because of money?

I thought so.

Thought so what? You guarantee that we will lose 1-2 of those players huh? You must know a bit, more so than the players…. Wasn't he a Tigers fan before coming here? Or was that someone else that just come to the club? In any case, if it were me, and the team that gave me a start so early in my care gave a decent offer for a bloke that has played a handful of games, yes, I would be loyal. But that's just me apparently.

He's got nothing to be loyal for. He should have been playing first grade from the start and in case my boldness of significantly more money didn't spell it out for you. Tigers were offering him 120k a year for 2 years. That's a joke compared to Melbourne's near 600k 3 year deal. Welfare and family security comes first. This is a business at the end of the day.

Halatau and Rankin are committee endorsed selections..dunno what the fuss is about…

One day it will happen where everyone loves the team selected...what a boring day that will be...

Expect changes...

Interesting to see all the scarecrow lovers backing another dud selection!
JAC won us the game against the donkeys, without him we don't win that game!
He's been on the below average of late, but that just means he's due…
And by all reports Rankins been playing poor in statecup!
Yet, top call scarecrow

In case you haven't noticed we are still struggling with our cap. And to further your last question, if Moses took up the money at the roosters, then yes, reserve grade, see ya.

You've stated the Storm contract figures for JAC and our offer. Do you have a source for these? If so, could you please share it? A source that has seen the contract and offer would be good.

We should play our best available players, regardless of where they may end up in future. We are a chance of finals this year.

And what reports would those be?
He's only played 2 games in ISP, one of which was in absolute torrential conditions.
I swear some people on here will make up any old rubbish to suit their agenda.

I understand your point of view, however as a tigers fan, I would rather lose watching players committed to my club then watch a bloke who used us to get noticed by a higher profile team. I have a feeling our finals chances ended with the thrashing we received from Canberra tbh

I agree and I would pick JAC but Rankin hasn't been bad and JAC has some errors in him. I think it's pretty close to our best team and I don't think that spot will make a huge difference. Still JAC has the ability to win us games. I can't see Rankin doing that. It's not a terrible selection considering JAC is leaving us this year.

Unless he turns out to be half the player some people seem to think he is, in which case he has signed for massive unders on a long term deal. Maybe he'll go to French rugby too!

So you think Rankin is a better winger than JAC, is your opinion and that is fine, you might think Dene is a starting hooker, that is fine, you may also think JT is a good coach and that is fine if you think that.
My opinion is different, I think Rankin is not an NRL winger, Dene is not an NRL hooker and JT is not a good head coach, and that should be fine too.

I would have selected JAC for this week, he's a better finisher than Rankin. Having said that, Rankin had been playing reasonably well so I hope he can get the job done. We're up against it this week either way you look at it though, that Melbourne side will be VERY difficult to beat at home. We'll have to ensure our completion rate is above 80% and Brooks and Moses can kick to the corners well.

Ah, the old my opinion, your opinion card… Look, I get it. its an opinion hard not to get, as its on every thread somehow, someway. And that's awesome, just incase I miss it. Thanks

Look I'm happy with the team selected cause its a strong team. Taylor may have thought that playing JAC was a risk as recent form not strong, along with the pressure to perform for his 2017 coach. I'm also happy with Halatua in the 9…..for now. Don't think it should be perminant tho.

Personally, I would have chosen JAC, but Rankin has improved heaps. I'm surprised anybody would think otherwise.

Considering JAC's last 2 games, maybe this is the "accountability" and "competition for positions" we all asked for.
