We’ve had a heap of great goal kickers in the coaching staff over the years. Taylor, Cleary, Richards and Hodgson but we still struggle. Clearly we don’t have a natural kicker and are trying to teach it on the fly with these guys

I don't think it is a coaching issue, rather a recruitment one.

Yeah like I said we haven’t had a natural goal kicker at the club for forever just guys they are trying to teach. Hopefully we can get one for next season sick of kicking 60% of our goals

I think it is important for all of the players and stranding a player on 248 games would not improve the loyalty and drive of the team. Playing him for the last 20 min at lock against Warriors and Bulldogs is a good compromise.

Being a coach is about creating a roster and educating players, but a huge part is motivating the team.

Nah sorry wouldn’t even come into it. It’s about winning and they only way to do that is to put the best team available on the field, nothing else matters. That’s the way you build a winning culture.

Our club definitely takes that stuff into consideration. Madge named Farah in the team final round last year when he had a broken leg. They’ll make sure Lawrence gets his 250th game even if everyone’s fit.

With Farah having a broken leg we played Cronulla in the last round and lost this match which resulted in the club missing the semi finals.

We were never in this game, it never cost us anything, losing to weaker opposition during the season is what cost us, that's our real issue.

In the end Farah sat on the bench until the result was all but over, joining the fray with less than half an hour to go and Cronulla up 24-4.

I liked the fact that Farah was given a late call up however think you should check your facts prior. Culture within a club makes you continually improve and showing loyalty is one of those assets, Cheers.

Culture in itself is neither good or bad. It is what it is. A collective behavioural feature of the group and made up of the behaviour of individuals within the group. Identifying certain negative behaviours and changing them to something more beneficially favourable to the group is a big job. Changes in group culture can take years. The WT developed an undesirable culture over 8 years or more. How could anyone possibly expect more favourable changes to occur in a season? Does anyone know what WT will look like 10 years from now? 5? 2?

We need to pants these guys and really boost the F/A again. We're the only team outside the 8 with a positive F/A so it could come in handy if we continue to get nudged out in close games and 8th spot becomes a differential crap shoot. The only teams that have a higher F/A than us are the top 4 teams.

I hear you. My Mrs has gone & invited her friends over for an early dinner hasn’t she. And none of them are into the footy.

Uh oh, I think your misses needs new friends ?

Think this gives you the perfect excuse to go and and catch up with mates and watch the football, just tell her no need for Dinner happy with a pub meal tonight.

Wasn’t Benji kicking at 74%. I suppose you can’t have a kicker or captain who plays reserve or sits on the pine? I think we traded our best kicker for a dally m hooker.

I'll say it again, Benji should be kicking from the left and Mbye the right.

Mitchell Moses kicked at 70% (78/112) for Tigers and 79% (194/246) for eels. I don't know if that is coaching or practice but I don't like it. Even worse their wingers score a lot of their tries in the corner.

What is quite unfortunate in my opinion is that Moses has converted well at Parra but was never that good when kicking for us. I remember I think a game against titans when Hayne got the field goal and Moses missed a couple really easy ones. Was a rough afternoon

after reading the weekend papers and seeing what money moses is on,he really needs to kick every goal he attempts tonight.
a try or two would not be out of place either.

Being on good money won’t suddenly make him a good goal kicker. He’s clearly not a natural kicker and I don’t think he’s gonna get any better

If you’re going to make a comparison with Garner and Lawrence, how about the far superior record of Garner in catching and holding the bullet pass from a half, as opposed to Lawrence, who invariably spills it?

2020: Luke Garner 5 errors in 9 games. Chris Lawrence: 5 errors in 8 games. Nofo has made 14 in 11 games. Stephen Crichton has made 15 errors in 11 games and by all accounts having a great season.

Yeh mate just drag up some narrow statistics to justify your point. 2020? Seriously? Do some homework and come up with comparative career average error rates and get back to us.

Ouch

I can't find an all-career stats resource, and I looked, so if you have one we can use for discussion, please share.

You accuse me of not doing my homework, I would like to think after posting on this forum for 15 years I have a reputation for ALWAYS doing my homework.

Also your original comment is itself devoid of any quotable data.

What I do have is access to 2020 stats, and there is that old argument "you are only as good as your last match".

That picture makes me sick.... I'm sorry but these days when players are professional and its a full time job surely someone know how to kick goals and the club can invest into a kicking coach.. it is a massive advantage to go up in 6's instead of 4's :disappointed:
