How many times has someone explained it on here ?
For the millionth time , the aim is to force the HBG to follow through with the recommendations of the review wholly and solely .
Any HBG board reshuffle is only to affect the outcome of the review .
I think everyone wants the HBG to go back to playing lawn bowls and wearing thier blazers and looking important at football matches .
Actually I think our aim here is to end up with a successful Football Club.

The review is our way to get there.

Agree. I think we'd have a very different story if the HBG board was made up of people with amazing experience like David Gilbert or they just followed through with the common sense recommendations in the review.

But the structural issues are very transparent now thanks to Julie, Dennis and their two sheep.

This morning we sit at just over 670 signatures on our petition for a review into the governance of the Holman Barnes Group (HBG).

Thank you very much to everyone who has supported this important action.

Here are some of the comments left by people signing the petition this morning:

I’m over watching the inept governance of Wests Tigers by this selfish board. - Travis

There appears to be incompetent governance at HBG that directly affects the functioning of the Wests Tigers and the implementation and support of the the review. The club can't reach its potential if undermined by the HBG directors. A review is needed from the top. - Glenn

I cannot believe that board members of the HBG are so self centered that they put their own selfish interests before the Wests Tigers and their fans. All decisions on how the Wests Tigers are run should be based only on how the Wests Tigers can finally provide some success in the NRL. Us long suffering fans have had a gutful. - Michael

I'm sick of the negative impacts the board have on our club. We are finally turning this club around with good recruitment and we need the issues at the board to be sorted once and for all. - Craig

As a long-time Wests Tigers fan I want a united management with the best interests of our team as its focus, not this squabbling mob. - Les

There also seems to be some confusion around the current HBG governance/board makeup, so I thought I would share this info:

There are a maximum of 20 debenture holders at the HBG.

At present, there are 17 active debenture holders.

A debenture costs a token amount of $100.

Debenture positions are for life and become available only if another holder passes away or surrenders their debenture.

There are currently two available debenture positions.

The HBG will call for Expressions of Interest to fill these positions.

The board then votes on debenture nominations.

The board is permanently composed of five debenture holders and two member-elected directors (these directors gain three-year terms).

There are approximately 27,000 members of HBG-controlled clubs.

The debenture holders currently on the HBG board are:
    • Julie Romero
    • Dennis Burgess (HBG appointment to the Wests Tigers board which currently has only four board members)
    • Stephen Montgomery (HBG appointment to the Wests Tigers board which currently has only four board members)
    • Vince Tropiano
    • Dave Gilbert (suspended, pending expulsion)
The member-elected board members are:
    • Rick Wayde (suspended, pending expulsion)
    • Tony Andreacchio (suspended, pending expulsion)
HBG debentures date back to the Western Suburbs Leagues Club formation in 1955.

No other licensed club in NSW (as far as we can find) uses or offers debentures to members.

Keep up the good work Joel - love it mate. 👍

Hypothetical .. so if the Balmain Tigers do go alone .. and standup the Balmain Tigers in the NRL again .. who (which players) from this current team go over to the Tigers .. and who stays with the Wests Magpies .. ??
I think it’s a more realistic hypothetical to ponder if we can lure Fittler, Johns and Meninga out of retirement and get them playing as good as they did in their peak.

do you really think there is even the slightest possibility this happens ? For a start …it’s kinda up to the NRL to decide this and admit them to the comp … not whatever is left of the Balmain Club these days …

Also … have a look at PNG which has been admitted already and the proposed WA team which is supposedly due to enter shortly …. These are backed by hundreds of millions of Govt money to be spent on grounds, facilities , license fees and junior development …. I wonder how much Balmain have in the bank these days to buy themselves back in ?

I knew, but this is so wild to read Helmsey...

"HBG debentures date back to the Western Suburbs Leagues Club formation in 1955.

This is insane. No wonder they're holding on for dear
life. The new year will bring us some more joy I feel.

Only time I've ever seen Julie Romero is on instagram
giving oversized cheques & chook raffles away smh.

Not too sure, but Id be confident in saying all the guys with get out clauses would be trampling each other to get out the door.
