Smart move from Shane Richardson. I don't buy for one minute that it is one big happy family behind closed doors, but he has flushed out any potential skullduggery by extracting a public commitment from key HBG players. If they reneg on any implementation of the review recommendations, their duplicity would be confirmed for all to see, rather than just implied or suspected, and then the gloves can come off. I get the impression Richo and BOF have all of the other actors well and truly covered.
Agree, iv no doubt that she had no intention of putting anyone other than HBG shills into those board seats until all the pressure began being applied and she had to back peddle.

Couldn't agree more coivtny👍 as I have seen VERY LITTLE RESPECT for the MAGPIES since I have been on here since 2019. And this is supposed to be the WESTS Tigers Forum 🤔.
Champion @BZN, mate, check out the Rugby League History thread under General Rugby League within this WTF - there's heaps of old stuff within those posts honoring past Wests Magpies - they're never forgotten (and nor forgotten are the Balmain players too, of yesteryear),
As you say, this is a Wests Tigers forum.

We can't just take things at face value and be happy Richo has put the issue to bed?
We have to predict motivations in order to support whatever previous position we all had?
We can't just look forward to the football as ONE united club?
No
Quite a few cannot...they either cant let go of the past, or I suspect they enjoy spoiling others enjoyment
Its like walking in the park nowadays, theres always one or two turds you need to be wary of, cant look up and enjoy the sky, trees and birds

💯

Wish it was.

Most need it to be a Balmain echo chamber.

That's why the CEO led the discussions and not the chair...

Whatever you think mate.

I've seen a few boards in my life. Richo is the boss in that set up.

And if Julia was reading from a script..
She's even more underwhelming.

It was a BTR pod.

The the other 3 were guests .

Also noticed the 4 realising where the boundaries are. Any illusion Shane and others may have about pushing HBG to sell are gone.

And the board will be independent as was planned however with what's happened there will be adjustments.

The 'old brigade' are the very people that built Wests Magpies and Wests Tigers into what you have today,
I AM an "Old Magpie"!!

I started following them and going to just about every Campbelltown, Lidcombe Oval, the odd "Return to Pratten Park", the mid week & pre season games at Leichhardt & most away games in Sydney + Newcastle & Canberra away games when they joined the comp plus one or two away games at Lang Park since 1972.

I helped raise money for the Magpies (under Rick Wayde's direction) at Burwood & Strathfield Rail Stations & Shopping Malls, I helped out at the mega money raising concert at Lidcombe & marched in the protest march when the powers that be tried to kick us out.I even had a pet Magpie called Russell (whom I named after Russell Wyer after finding him "rustling" in the shrubs of my garden).

BUT, despite my ongoing love of the Magpies I have now embraced the joint venture fully, even after having rows with former Balmain fans and getting (unfairly in my opinion ) kicked off this very forum when I was just Tigerdazz (hence my new tag Tigerdazz2).

After 25 years I feel the joint venture can be and should be one of the premier franchises in the NRL, with one of the biggest fan bases.
As I said in my post you quoted, there's now two generations of Wests Tigers fans who have never been fans of either of the foundation clubs and have only known & followed the Wests Tigers.

Sure the Magpie side of the JV holds the purse strings, but they should fully embrace the joint venture, it's full very real potential for greatness and reap the benefits of what a united, successful club (both on field & financially) provides.

But who's saying otherwise......not @BZN .

Read the posts here. One could easily think it's a Balmain forum.

We don't want that either.

By the way this isn't "Russell" this is the patriarch of a family of 5 Magpies that visit me a few times a day for a feed of mealworms and/or mozzarella cheese.

This cheeky bugger is the most brazen of the lot, he'll walk right into the house and jump up on my lap and "sing" for a feed....even gently nibbling on my ears if I'm crashed out on the lounge. He'll follow me to the pantry when I grab the mealworms or to the fridge when I get the cheese.

I used to feed these guys mince, but learned it's not very good for them, so they rarely get it now, just the occasional treat once in a blue moon when I'm out of something more appropriate. They also get plenty of insects, worms, snails & frogs from my large back yard that backs onto bushland.

Lately they have been joined in the early hours of the morning by a young female wallaby, who gets through a gap in the fencing to my neighbours house.

They don't exist anymore in first grade, same as Balmain that's why.

Some amazing results from the petition! Well done to those involved.

It provided Richo with grounds to go public with HBG and ensure the recommendations would be fully deployed. He made sure to emphasize key parts to box it in.

Smart move also bringing in Simon Cook as he's a smart operator and also put some assurances in there.
Did you see Julie Romero (on the BTR podcast) look straight at Simon Cook (with a weird look on her face) when both Richo & Bazz said the Independent directors would be appointed by the end of the month?
It was as if it was news to her, I could be wrong but just watch her when they say that.

Yeah, maybe something there. But didn't their "facts" release also talk about some exciting developments in a few weeks time?

Edit. Found it.

FACT: The review recommends the appointment of four independent directors, one of whom shall be Chair.
The review recommends an externally led, independent recruitment process. This process is nearing
completion as we speak so stay tuned for an exciting announcement in the coming weeks.

Yeah i think everyone pretty much noticed that, could be reading too much into it im sure there's some body language experts here that will be analyzing it though.
Maybe it was Richo drawing a line in the sand and putting them on the spot in a public fashion, if it doesn't happen i fear he walks and we are in another world of hurt. I don't trust her in the slightest from what i've read and heard and now seen even though it was only a 10 min pod.
I think it would be a good idea to spam the comments section of the pod on youtube making feelings clear that it should happen and it will hit the fan if they don't. I have no doubt they will be monitoring public reaction there.

Wests Group Campbelltown sold their shares because they felt as if they weren't heard by their Ashfield and Balmain counterparts when it came to the operation of Wests Tigers. the decision was recommended by former CEO, Tony Mathew, but was approved by the board at the time which has barely changed in the years that have followed.

take this as fact, WT and Richardson only contact WGC when they want cash. that's really the extent of the relationship. Richardson wants to build the relationship, but apart from funding the junior league to increase the number of participants, from my understanding WGC are nonplussed.

it's a good idea on your part Helmesy but WA won't sell and WGC are more than happy to sit on the sidelines and fund grassroots sport.
They walked away because much like it is now, there was no focus on Macarthur & the enemies (Balmain and Wests Ashfield) would vote as a block to prioritise the inner west

Julie Romero looked out of sorts. Like she is just there for the money. The worst part was that she had a resemblance to Margaret Hamilton. But im no judge and I dont know her.
