No they dont actually. The club can continue quite legally within the framework of the leagues club constitution. I would expect a quorum for a board meeting would be 50% of the allowed seats. How?
They need to replace the suspended Directors before they can do anything constitutionally!
And two need to be elected by the membership... that ain't happening before the season kicks off!!
Exaclty my point.Probably why it went broke.
Could there be any allegiance between magpies and HBG representatives.
Don't rip me to shreds guys confess to not knowing much about this stuff but a board of 1 Balmain, 1 HBG that being magpies rep on the board, 1 Wests Tigers and 4 independents sound feasible.Of course there could. The Chair of the Magpies also sits on the HBG board. But as its only 2 voices on a board of 7, not enough to do cause sufficient damage (not in the manner in which 2 previous board members managed to take "control")
Thats an easy one... vote to change the constitution. From the last filed fin reports for BTRLFC - there are 8 directors.Just in regards to the comments regarding Balmain’s board and what looks like a real difficulty in getting fresh blood onto it, I think this is something that both the foundation clubs will struggle with in years to come as NO ONE is coming into the family today or tomorrow as a Balmain or a Wests Magpies fan. Neither entity is seen as relevant any longer, in my opinion, among the next generation of fans.
I wouldn't have raised it but thought it was extremely hypocritical for you be critical of people speaking about Julie in a manner that you didn't like after what you said.I apologise to anyone that felt my post was antisemitic.
I 100 % disagree that it was as I AM CERTAINLY NOT ANTISEMITIC IN ANY WAY.
IN FACT, I AM PROSEMITIC if that is actually a word.
But thanks for bringing it up cochise, as I would have been disappointed if you hadn't, as you do have a strong desire to highlight the most important posts.
Im not selling anything. I am asking for evidence of claims being made. Its OK to say "these are my opinions"... but when you make statements, be sure to be able to produce the evidence to back up those claims. No one is buying what you are selling.
Just suggesting a solution that would go a long way to resolving the current situation. Is this sort of post designed to inflame the current situation?
Or does it come down to you getting rid of some of your frustration by putting 💩 on people.
I am not a member of the Balmain Tigers but I don't disagree with any of this.Thats an easy one... vote to change the constitution. From the last filed fin reports for BTRLFC - there are 8 directors.
Just slim that down. Doesnt need that many to run the football operations. Find 3 or 4 people who's kids play for one of the teams, and get them on the board. Maybe keep a couple of the "younger" directors.
Lets be real, BTRLFC holds no significant physical assets. Their only asset is the share holding in Wests Tigers (on the books at $1m). They hold no other hard assets.
The organisation is losing between $20k and $30k a year over the past couple of years, so the loss is currently OK given their book value of their shares in WTs.
It why HBG are so defensive and protective of the debenture system.Just in regards to the comments regarding Balmain’s board and what looks like a real difficulty in getting fresh blood onto it, I think this is something that both the foundation clubs will struggle with in years to come as NO ONE is coming into the family today or tomorrow as a Balmain or a Wests Magpies fan. Neither entity is seen as relevant any longer, in my opinion, among the next generation of fans.
Apologies for thinking professionals should try to at least look professionalWhat a truly pathetic post this is.
And the worst post is that so many, apart from @cdinoz007, thought it was hilarious to make fun of Julie Romero's looks.
Really snake belly stuff I'm sorry to say, as I thought people on here were better than that.
Is this what is called fair free speech, I don't think so.
5 years? Its been dysfunctional for 25 years. Thats the leading issue. The board has never had stability. If it had, explain the appointment of Grant Meyer as CEO back in 2013..!!I have stated this many times, HBG have done a good job of building the HBG, they run that business well. I have stated in the past that I think they were very inclusive of Balmain when they went into administration, the adoption of the Barnes name was very magnanimous on their behalf.
I have even gone as far as saying I would be happy for the HBG to have 100% ownership of the club.
I do however believe that the running of a successful modern-day sporting organistation requires a very different skill set to running a Leagues club.
I think across the board this club has had issues at board level in the last 5 years, that is Balmain, HBG, Wests Magpies and Wests Tigers. I don't think that can be denied.
Thankfully thanks to the review and the efforts of Richo, it looks like we will get a governance structure that sets the Wests Tigers up for success.
Every single point I have raised here I have spoken about on numerous occasions in the past so I don't really get the point of your question. I don't think you can say I don't say anything positive about the HBG, it is just wrong.
Unless they actually have emails and we all know they have emails because what they reported was confirmed by Romero herself. The HBG press release stated she sent emails to the board after the recommendations of the review were handed to them in 2023. She said the media stated she wrote the emails in 2024 and that was false. So we know she didn't agree with the review. We also know that the HBG board were white anted by one of the three who were punted because the media had the emails. So thats a No then.
I go off FACTS. Not what Chammas and Carrayanis say in their editorials. Thats called HERESAY
So long as process was followed, then no one can overturn the ban/punishment.In terms of punting the 3 boardmembers I really couldn't care less but iv got no doubt one way or another it will be overturned if they fight it,
It would be interesting to see the 'future' examples of how the governance of exNRL but now KOE clubs such as Newtown is going. Has the drop down to lower level competition affected the state / skills / abilities of the clubs governance?Just in regards to the comments regarding Balmain’s board and what looks like a real difficulty in getting fresh blood onto it, I think this is something that both the foundation clubs will struggle with in years to come as NO ONE is coming into the family today or tomorrow as a Balmain or a Wests Magpies fan. Neither entity is seen as relevant any longer, in my opinion, among the next generation of fans.
I follow Wests TigersWESTS MAGPIES are still very relevant having a team of our next stars playing in KOE, and WESTS are part of our JV name.
If this doesn't seem relevant to you it's because you want the MAGPIES GONE.
What would happen if a WESTS MAGPIE fan went to see you not knowing you were a staunch Balmain follower and told you he/she was very unhappy as it seems the MAGPIES are being wiped out.
What would say...something like.... 'sorry you'll just have to suck it up as it seems there is a big push on right now to strip any power the HBG/WESTS MAGPIES have".
💯 mateI was looking to signup as a member, however their ONLY form of paying to become a member was to put my full credit card, expiry and cvc details on to a piece of paper and email or post it to them! Highly unprofessional, possibly even illegal these days. Anyone could intercept this and use my card as they like, totally unsecure.
