They were stalling.
They still have 3x of their non independent appointees on the WT board.

Just out of curiosity my conspiracy theory was the board after Romero took over and removed the other 3, put a stop on the recruitment and restarted it once the pressure began to be applied, fast tracking the appointments. Would that have been possible Spartan?

Between adding Richo, Luai and now an independent Board, along with 5-6 other quality players, it’s been a sensational 12 months for the club. Hats off to everyone who campaigned for change.
Now for the results on field to turnaround. If they don’t, we must be cursed.

Anyone qualified and willing to invest their time in my club is very welcome.
It won’t happen overnight , but if smart people are making the right calls for the right reasons , and it’s all rowing in the right direction , then it will inevitably come to the right destination .
I think a huge thing for us is our best players both luai and Api , have a genuine love for the club . A passion that most fans would have .
If they can then truely buy in and get the whole club buying in , then that’s just going to be an avalanche .
We’ve just had areal tough time to get that first snowball going down the mountain .
I honestly believe if we can build the momentum that it will be an unstoppable force .
God I’d love for our own Penrith style dynasty . I’d even settle for Melbourne style one . Or a GS warriors one .

I think the board appointments are solid. No Mark Bouris & Nick Politis level, but still strong. They should all bring different skills in and add more value than we've had before!

Great appointments.but they needed to fill 3 positions so this doesn't stack up.
HBG currently consists of 4 directors only 2 not 3 as you say are on the WT board, Montgomery and Burgess.

Where would they find them from?
Do you think people of the callibe of Charlie and co were stalled and received the call over Xmas?
And true WT supporters may or may not have supported the petition.

Bottom line is, I think we should all be pleased that we have had the independents announce, now it's just a matter of waiting to see how independent the 3 new board members are.
Hopefully it does not end up being a shit fight like it has been in the past and I guess the first test will be on the 28th to see if Barry O'Farrell is still the Chair.

Elevate are being paid by someone, certain outcomes can be influenced / delivered if there is a desire to do so.

For what it’s worth, I applied for one of independent board roles. I’m currently on two other boards after being a CEO for 20 years in medical/healthcare. Life long tigers supporter as well as a level 2 coach and player for 20 odd years. Not directly involved in sport in a management role but have been on different committees over the years, one being with Balmain back with George Stone, if anyone remembers him.
Anyway,I didn’t expect to be appointed but I’m very interested, obviously, with the way the wt have been managed lately at board level and I thought I would see the process. I must say it seemed fairly thorough and I actually interviewed 3 times. In the end their position was even though I was “eminently qualified” as an independent board memberI didn’t fit the bill in sports experience and what I believe they meant as “networked” enough.
The only thing I would say is that, from general discussions, I think they had already decided on several positions and that it would be 50/50 gendered. My impression,not their comments, instead of the best 4 applicants, regardless of gender etc.
Overall I’m relatively happy with the appointments, we shall see.

My reply to Spartan was to reply to his call that HBG were stalling.....for what purposes.
As can be seen people on here went through an interview process lately......so nothing was stalled.
They required 3 more directors.....even if they were that way inclined 3 persons aren't currently available on the HBG they could've selected for the WT board.
So it's a furphy they weren't looking for 3 independents and the petition forced their hand.....unless you think the 3 independents selected of that calibre were willing to be stuffed around.
Spartan also mentioned HBG currently supply 3 directors but they only supply 2.
Besides I was aware the 3 independents were selected about 10 days ago and mentioned it here prior to BTR podcast
