Been there done that - we've all seen it. The important thing for me was the set up try when he kicked as a 5/8 the kids got talent. But he needs a home a place to call his space. Madge knows this and he will exceed and excell and maybe win the Melb Cup as well!

Sure I was a knocker when I saw that "stat" but then I realised that he'd been carrying the oranges most of the time. In other words Douhicky wasn't given the opportunity in one position cos he was always filling in for others. From what I've seen thus far I'm very confident that he will be a star. Maybe not Super but better than Silver. I'm kidding - I actually think he will be better than Teddy. He is a walking Adonis - just needs to link with Brutus Leilua!

I hope so...

In the meantime...I think I ripped him off a try...he actually has 2 in 30 games.

And I bring you....the NRL's next immortal

Lol - i have no idea how old you are but you seriously need to grow up - its just a game and a trial one at that. And for what its worth Douehi didn't set the world on fire but he didn't make any mistakes and that was his first serious hit out with the top side. Lets wait and judge the guy half way through the season.

It's adult banter...don't tell me you're part of the sensitive brigade too?

How many times do I need to say it....if he kicks on then good for him. I'll be cheering and will be happy if I'm proven wrong.

You're just not going to convince me that based on his performances to date that he is a future star. Pretty sure most of the ones taking offence are Lebanese, but I'm going to say it...he's on par with Rankin right now. Have at it boys

You’re embarassing yourself. It’s fine if you don’t rate him, no one says you have to. But the way you reacting to those challenging you is childish.

* I'm hoping that Joey will be able to sort Nofo out and they will work in tandem in defence and attack.

* Doueihi has played two halves of football in trials for us with varying 5/8's and DH's, in addition to a team that he has only trained with for three weeks. Some on here, certainly have unrealistic expectations and some seem to have an agenda. Once he has a settled spine, learns the plays backwards and has the chance to support Joey, Lucy and some of the forwards up the middle etc. - watch the kid improve in leaps and bounds. Tedesco he will never be, but he could be a type of Tom Trbojevic type of FB - not as fast or as good but that type.

* Noticed a big improvement in the team when ET came on - thought he was brilliant. Don't think he was that good when coaches have tampered with his style of play. I think he definitely needs to be the lock. Aloiai to prop or bench.

* Thought Lucy was one of the best on the field (obviously Joey was), have said it before we signed him, this guy can really play, once he settles down will be even better. i.e. the offloads and his defence will cause teams no end of problems.

* Jennings - what can I say, he has improved 100% on last year, he is now almost an ordinary footballer, should be could in cc this year.

* Rowdy played well I thought, seemed to play as a lock at one stage, ran well, defended well etc. People are saying "where do you play him", "can't find a spot for him" and so on. Maybe he plays from the bench instead of MCK (may have won us two games last year but I find him underwelming), he can play centre real good (slower than MCK but reads the play better) or you could start with him and bring Lucy on (if you want impact later than the opening stanza).

* We still have Momo to come back - definitely my other centre (daylight second). What do you do with Mbye? Who knows, I think he is a 14 myself. That leaves Jray, sure he'll get quite a few runs as the season goes on with niggling injuries and so on.

* My two bobs worth, loved seeing the two trials except, the refs were kidding, weren't they? And seriously, he may have been a good goal kicker, but Daryl Halligan as a commentator would make a great bricklayer (worse than Voss, and that is saying something), the other idiot was just as bad. I would suggest, next season the Tigers take the second trial somewhere else, just so their supporters don't have to suffer the commentators and refs in NZ.

I actually never quoted anyone about Doueihi...was happy to leave people to have their opinion, but people quoted me because they didn't like what I said...It kinda seems like if I don't rate him it's not fine...

Plenty of support for my view, but most don't want to deal with the Doueihi gang attacking them...bring it on I say :joy:

Nope. You got it wrong. Just because people quoted you to say they thought you were wrong doesn’t equal them to telling you weren’t allowed that opinion. That’s the idea of the forum, you post your opinion and others will respond to it and give your theirs.

I, for one, love how Luciano is such a gun that he doesn't need sideburns.

Did anyone catch the charity shield ? Geez Saints need a big few weeks till round 1. I’d be very worried if I were a dragons supporter this year. For all our did buys , we don’t have anything as painful as Hunt and Norman.
Not only are they not living up to the coin , but they are taking starting spots in key positions.
Neither offer anything IMO. Hunt needs to go to 9.

There’s no defending Nofa there mate. Regardless of a 3 on 2 rushing up past the ball and tackling no one is a poor play. He needs to stay in the defensive line and slide across, much bigger chance of defending the try doing that And Joey didn’t look happy with him after it.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I'm afraid you can't just say "regardless of a 3 on 2" as if it doesn't matter. It's first grade - a team with a 3 on 2 overlap should score. There was an overlap from the play the ball and all the winger can do is try to take an intercept or spoil the final pass. If he slides out they score on the inside.

Blaming the winger when there's an overlap is like blaming the number 11 batsmen when the middle order have failed.

I don't understand why people still seem happy to do it even when it can be demonstrated to be not the case.

Nofa had a choice, stay in the line, or rush up. He rushed up to take the man one in, and that resulted in the cut out pass. Who knows what would have happened if he stayed in the line, maybe they slide successfully, maybe they don't.

Thank you for the work you put in to demonstrate what happened, but there you did not (you could not) demonstrate what happened if he didn't run up. We can't know for sure. Generally I feel if you run up out of the line (at any time), you must make the tackle. If not, well, you leave a hole, and you make the chance they will score a try much greater.

Elijah Taylor nine runs for 139 metres according to the NRL app??? He played well but those are unreal stats. Surely must be a mistake in there somewhere. If that’s true then he has to play for us come round 1

I like it when people use stats..Fox has Elijah at 79m

See if you can guess who this is.. 16 runs 169m 37m post contact 2 line breaks 3 offloads 2 tackles 2 Tries..

Bwaiths stats for an entire season at the WT's

any of our attack to Doueihi

I'm watching the replay again now, In the second half after the Brooks try the Trainer got Doohicki aside and gave him instructions. For the remaining 10 or so minutes Dooy trailed the dummy half looking to link up. It didn't work out but it will happen. He needs to learn the structures and trust the men in front to feed him and vice versa. I felt it was getting him used to following the play especially as the game was won by then.

Don't get me wrong. I'll be cheering if it happens. I'm not death riding the bloke. I hope he becomes the next immortal. That aside, I just don't think he's the future star people are making him out to be...Once again...30 games for 1 try is not great.

Happy to be proven wrong over the next 8-10 years of his career.

Could have fooled us

Sorry...Go Doueihi...he was AWESOME today...that shuffle run he made in the second half was world class!!! Next superstar!!

Is that better?

Now you’re learning.

I'm just licking my lips at the thought of a full year of shuffle runs in Tigers colours...what a buy!

What ever your taking, stop taking it
Its not doing you any good And doesn't make you look good either
Its alright to have an opinion, but it looks more like a vendetta against Doueihi
I know I know
Your comeback is 2 tries in 30 games
What if he saves tries or runs decoys for tries to be scored or sets up tries, do these count
As far as your shuffle run comments go, if you want to go by stats
Doueihi ranked 6th on average in kick return meters last year in the Nrl
Thompson ranked 9th in the NRL
There's a stat for you

Thompson is a great player but I would have him on my wing
He goes alright there to

Sure more tries would be great, but for Doueihi to be able to do that he needs more time on the field

I'm on your side of the fence.

1. I think we can agree there was an overlap regardless
2. In this situation, a player has 2 choices. Slide or rush the attacker/receiving player
3. When you rush, it lowers the chances of successfully defending the overlap

Nofo made the low percentage play in that situation and probably should have stayed on his wing.

Thompson ranked 9th in the NRL
There's a stat for you

Thompson is a great player but I would have him on my wing
He goes alright there to

Sure more tries would be great, but for Doueihi to be able to do that he needs more time on the field

Ok mate...he's awesome...I really don't care to argue with you about it. You're flogging a dead horse.

@JD-Tiger

The other thing is even if their winger scores on the slide, it would be in the corner meaning a sideline conversion...it actually cost us 6 instead of a possible 4.

On that performance, I am concerned for the NRL future of Chris Lawrence. IMO, he is in a race with ET for a bench spot, at best, and ET was better. I truly hope he has not played one season too many, as he deserves to be acknowledged as a true legend of this club. Others' thoughts?

Chris may not get a start (or even a bench spot) in Round 1, but he will valuable when others get injured somewhere this season (unless injuries cruel him).

I personally thought we had the best starting forward pack we could possibly have to start the game but came am not as sure. Granted its just a trial but i was a bit concerned about walters defence jebus he missed a few. his service was good, however. I actually think we were dominated to start the game by the wars forward pack. our defensive line speed wasnt great I know there was alot of penalties etc but it makes me feel like we may need a bit of a shakeup.

Anyway massively jumping to conclusions as its only a trial.

A few positives from me were, dare i say it ET. I know he finished the end of last year well but i felt like our defense and defensive line speed improved a tonne when he entered.
douhei and thompson both played really well at the back but i feel like douhei offers a bit more in attack.
Jennings was very good i know hes the usual whipping boy but he played great.
And lucy was everything i hoped he'd be
