Is Scholari too young?

A lot of posters have huge raps on him

Only one way to find out

I could be wrong but I understand Dillon and Scolari were told at training this week they were playing. Dillon is on a development contract, Scolari isn’t so needs to get the insurance paperwork sorted.

So won’t be surprised if Scolari gets a run. There are so many good young players in the named squad so I also see that it’s hard to fit them all in.

Felix Smith, Mavonni, Wilson etc - would love to see them all if it were possible. As I said earlier, Fenn is a good style of a forward - big, rugged and tough who came across from Manly last year. Won’t be shocked if he stars in CC this year.

Appreciate the info mate

Neither Dillon or scolari are on development contracts. I just hope these younger guys get a ball work session in with the nrl players named, otherwise they are up against it. My understanding is they haven’t had a ball work session together yet, and officialdom like every other nrl club won’t want to pay these blokes any extra coin to train with nrl as pr Ella agreement, ( I think it’s 500 a session for memory if you train with nrl but don’t have an nrl contract), so hope we do the right thing and give all these younger boys the best chance to put their best foot forward.. Also anybody know if Dylan smith is injured? 3 years on a development contract and didn’t play in mines and not named for the weekend?

Maguire doesn’t rate Smith at all, i think he’ll find himself in Ron Massey cup this year. Kane Bradley hadn’t been named either. I thought he went alright but apparently Madge doesn’t rate him either.

Also an update Tommy Talau has been added to the side for the weekend

It's also why no squad has been names in Flegg for the trial. They have a massive squad too so it allows the new faces in Flegg to get a run. Though i wouldn't be surprised to se some players play 20-30 mins in Flegg and then get the last 10-15 mins of the NRL trial. Whilst many players listed in this trial will end up in CC or Flegg to start the year.

Haven't seen it announced that Dillon is on a development contract but it's quite possible that both he and Lui are on them to advance their progress.

I’d be surprised if Dillon got upgraded. You can only have 6 and At the moment our players are: hooker, halfback, center, center, winger. Adding a fullback to that would make it even more lopsided then it is. Lui would be a good addition though as a prop would make a lot more sense

That is a bit tough to read. I guess Maguire knows what it takes to succeed.

Thanks for info rowdy I’m not sure , if it’s true what you say and Madge doesn’t rate smith and Bradley , and Dillon and lui go alright on Saturday they might be upgraded I’m not sure , I went out last Saturday to belmore and watched the 20’s trial against dogs, I was told the big kid kid we had in the front row trains with first grade, big boy but very slow, can offload but is far from dominant in defence for his size, was told he is from parramatta, anybody know his name?

Surprising he doesn’t rate them considering they’re on development contracts and we have heaps of other guys that could’ve been on one instead.

Could be wrong mate, it’s happened plenty of times before 😂

However we have 5 of 6 development spots used already so only one more can be added. You can’t just take guys off a fulltime contract unfortunately

Ah you’re right. 2019 development squad was announced a few weeks before Madge joined. He seems to like Madden and Seyfarth which is good

Wish he played more in the nines, he had one run and almost scored! With the lack of depth in our forwards it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he debuted later in the year. Madge has shown he’ll play the young fellas.

Madden looks good too. Hope he does well in reserve grade. What about Sam McIntyre? Doesn’t strike me as a fella who’ll play much first grade unfortunately.

In regards to Kane Bradley wasn’t it Madge that moved him up into the Jr Development 6, if so I couldn’t imagine Madge promoting a Jr if he didn’t see something in him.

Not sure on either of those guys mate

Ok thanks Balmain boy, I wasn’t sure who he was, we have obviously bought him because of his size, he does have some ability with the ball, but he has lazy traits, he is a walker and always looking for that rest in d behind the second marker, hopefully Madge gets it out of him and he’s only a kid too.

He was signed on a development contract in 2018. These contracts are tricky as youre speculating that a player will be first grade standard in 3 years time. You need to be careful with them as if you’re wrong You could have 2/3/4 guys taking up spots in your top 30 that you have no intention of playing. Next year Madden, Bradley, Simpkin and Cini will all be in our top 30.

You are so right rowdy, my mate from moorebank rams, told me warren MacDonald signed 3 guys to development contracts at the dogs and he reckons mark Hughes told him none of them will see nrl, Tyrone Harding, Steve winters Chang and another name I forgot , and he told me that MacDonald didn’t rate tommy talau, Jake Averillo and Logen Dillon who were all in the same side at moorebank rams even so called experts get it wrong from time to time
