Wests Tigers v Penrith Trial *Live Thread

So Matheson johns use to play for Penrith...
And he squared up...

Probably some residual beef.

Just got home from the game after eventually sneaking in, was lucky enough to sit near @Tiger_Steve and chat about the game (Thanks Mate)

My thoughts
I thought we looked good in the 1st half with the forwards working hard to get to their fronts and get numbers in the tackle. I didn't think we showed a lot of structure in attack during the game but that is not unusual with backup halves playing!

I thought Walters played well and really liked his passing from dummy half, put the ball out in front of his runners.

Musgrove was great, has to be in the side hit hard and ran hard. The Penrith players hated him

Reynolds passing from dummy half is still terrible.

Talau was good but made some immature errors, I don't think he is ready yet.

Doueihi looked promising, positioned himself well and threw nice ball for the try. One kick that he and another player fluffed where they showed poor urgency which led to a drop out.

I still like when Taylor gets into 1st receiver and ball plays allowing our halves to push a little wider!

Madden looks promising!

I only caught about 15 mins of the 1st half sounds like a blessing, Walters looked ok in dummy half Musgrove was aggressive and powerful any other positives?
And what I saw of Reynolds was gash seems like he didn’t improve on that.

You named it bra.

Douhei was great.
Matheson Johns looks a good prospect and punched on...

What you said and that's all really

I saw the fight that was feisty I liked it.

Reynolds painful to watch.
Not fussed about anything else, in fact happy with Johns and Musgrove. Doueihi looked ok too.
I like Walters as our 9 or 14.

Didn’t see any of it, so we in for a long season?

Nah
Just as short as any other season...😂

So JRey once again showed how skilless he is....he is really no longer NRL standard.... no wonder no other club is interested in him

Oh goody!

On another note, just watching the All Stars game, how good is Brandon Smith! If Harry Grant was earmarked ahead of him to take Cammy’s place when he retires then Grant must be some sort of superstar!

All the players that’ll probably play first grade for us all did well. Johns and Seyfarth the two that stood out outside that group for me. Keen to see our proper team have a run next week

My man.
Glass half full.

I still think Elijah should be in the 17

Think he goes good at lock. Can just put his head down and run forward, he can use his defensive skills all over the park and he does do well getting the ball to the halves. Again depends on how many forwards we run on the bench I think

Johns looked a bit one dimensional. He is a strong runner, quick enough but needs to be able to set up his winger.

I’m just really happy Musgrove did good. He will be important for us this year, he’s a big body with aggression which we have missed big time. Maybe even gets a starting spot eventually.

Seyfarth will push for a bench spot I reckon

Glad I went back and watched first half as I missed it. Some very good signs in places where we could improve from last season.

Hopefully no injuries.
