Wests Tigers v Penrith Trial *Live Thread

After a lie down and th e usual anger has dissapaited, i am relatively happy with the nights outcome.

NO INJURIES,
Bit of game fitness
Few new youngsters had a solid outing

And the other youngsters got a wake up call against bigger better players that will remind of eactly how far along in their progress they really are.

That score was bad but it was the first trial.

Scolari is underwhelming after all the hype about him. Another tiny winger, and not that fast.

What a stupid comment! I watched the game on the live stream and you only had to listen to the commentators after he wasn’t passed the ball with line wide open not once but TWICE (one by a development player the second time mind you) and could not get the ball. That can happen in trials when others are trying to impress and go themselves.

If you watched the tape he only touched the ball from a high ball which he took well. Almost saved a try when he flipped Naden over on the try line after Talau went down on the short side. He basically had only 18 minutes on the field when Panthers had 90% of the ball with penalties so how you could say he was slow is ridiculous. I also suggest you take a look at club stats and watch highlights from games from last year.

Dillon showed good speed - query over high ball - needs to work on that and his passing. Madden very good. Cini solid without being spectacular.

Give these kids a break - comments like that doesn’t help. They’ll go back to CC and Flegg and learn their trade - I would say reserve your criticism if by mid season they are not performing.

Westigerman pull your head in. Scolari would have scored twice if given the ball. He and the other really young players now know what level they need to get to for the NRL. I expect big improvements from them all as a result of this experience.

While the plan at the moment is to move Doueihi to 5/8 once Marshall retires, it wouldn't surprise if Brooks moved to 5/8 to accommodate Madden at 1/2. Those doubters who really gave it to Madden now need to rethink their views.

Gonna watch more CC games this year

Wanna see some of these guys develop

I thought Dillon looked good

He might have looked good, nice headgear etc.

As a Full Back - he is not worth a bean, absolutely hopeless.

Totally agree with your comments on Scolari.

Totally disagree with your comment on Dillon.

He might have busted his wrist hitting the ball out of the Panthers hand after giving away that stupid penalty. C'mon Josh, get some form and earn ya money.

Thought the game was "A Trial"

Try this player, try that player - some work out, some are not ready, some were hopeless. Pretty much of the ones we have hopes for this year ... Lucy, Musgrove, Taylor, AD, Madden and Clark were not too bad. Walters was ok, will get better if he doesn't try as hard and realises he is in a team sport and does not have to do it all himself.

A few disappointments - especially Talau, thought Seyfarth was average. McIntyre, Cini and Chee-am didn't get too much opportunity.

The others will be better for the run and the experience - look forward to next weeks trial.

One big GRIP over last night people:

This thread is "Wests Tigers v Penrith Trial *Live Thread:"

Why do we have comments on the Indigenous v Maori game - fortunately nobody mentioned the score.
Not everyone watches one game after another or simultaneously.

Please be aware throughout the coming season. Thanks.

Being told by all and sundry your the next big thing , then producing is another thing .. Talau fits this category good luck with all that .. young Masters can attest to that !

Wonder when the idiot Esan is gonna make his move to the backrow.... 😂😂😂

Its only a trial im not worried so we had a load of kids on and got thrashed in the second half its not a huge deal. Some on here would be saying calm down its only a trial had we won by the opposite score. It was a god way for Madge to see who he can depend on for depth, and maybe if we dont get Grant who to run with at hooker. I think even blind freddy can see its not Jrey.

Yep.
Some easy decisions going forward for the future.

Geez. Its like the record( big piece of black vinyl that plays music for the youngins) is stuck at this time every year. I will say the same thing I say at this time year after year, it’s a bloody TRIAL!!!! Wait until competition proper before panicking.

I understand what your saying ...but you have players playing for their positions , contracts ....maybe their careers ......

A lot of concerns out of tonight's game ...Madge has a heap of work to turn that performance around

Yes, it was a trial for the other team as well, but they showed up.

That's a bit of a rubbish comment about a young kid based on 10 mins in a trial Russ....expect better..

You mustn't of watch too many of his games in Flegg I take it..

Some people are comfortably 9th.
Majority of us won't settle for this mediocrity.
Time to crack the whip.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

I went to the game and thought the defence in the first 20 Minutes was good, however the edges looked vulnerable.
Walters looked good in patches and could help out in the hooker role if we don’t get Grant from the Storm. Reynolds looked very poor from dummy half with his passing less than first grade standard and saw the rush defence from the Panthers up on our players too quickly.
Talau was found out last evening in the centres a few times, however he will need to learn his role and be ready later in the year or next as he is still very young.
It was poor conditions in the second half and the CC team did what we should have expect of them.

Some teams take trials very seriously as they did the nines. Others treat it for what it is. If you think that side remotely resembles what will be on the park in round 1 then i can see why you would be spooked.
