What a poorly coached team

@innsaneink it is not about being beaten , was this team poorly coached TONIGHT ? with no structure, players out of position , players that should not of been selected ... comments like Madge needs more time really ! If you think that watching a first grade side put on 5 hit ups then a garbage kick well good luck to you if that is your view of a well coached team .
These are professional athletes supposedly and a professional first grade coach and yes what a poorly coached team !

@Snake Well I'd give him more than a dozen games. mbye is turning into a joke. His pre game interview was telling. There was absolutely no enthusiasm in his eyes or his words. That same blank look that Latrell Mitchell had on Wednesday. It must be hard to be up for it when it's obvious the coach has him in his sights, but he's still club captain and still in first grade and still getting paid more than 10 times as much as most of us. There could be a flicker of life surely. Our current pack isn't good enough either. Simples.

@happy_tiger Long turnarounds kill us.. I can’t remember the last time we played well after a break. For most teams it’s a positive, a freshen up. Opposite for us, of course!

It's like we forget how to play football if we have a break for longer than 7 days! Strange when football is actually what these guys do for a living....I think.

@ElleryHanley we did finish 9th with Cleary it will be interesting where we finish this year ..

We finished 9th with Jason Taylor and everyone wanted to stone him to death. So I'm guessing anything worst than 9th means Madge should be burnt at the stake.

We also had the best player in game (Tedesco), an origin level prop (Woods),alot more spark around the halves (Moses). A few players like Simona would also be the best outside back option we have at the moment by a long way.

JT did good that year in a lot of ways, but our current roster is terrible

I wonder if all this talk of players being shopped around and everyone on notice has the players spooked. They were a rabble and nothing like the side that started the season. Maybe a few players have already given up knowing that their days here are numbered.

We were going good with 4 forwards on the bench. As soon as we bring a hooker back on the bench we're getting killed up front.

Go with Liddle for the rest of the season. It's a bust anyway.

I do enjoy watching Maguire in the press conferences. He is a good speaker, and comes across as knowing what needs to be done. Obviously good luck to him, hope he gets the chance to make this roster his.

It wasn’t coaching which is worse. We couldn’t make any metres and got dominated in every tackle. Zero in attack. They scored three tries from kicks, and two from intercepts.
Starts with props no platform for halves and. Backs. It’s a simple game Andrew Johns wouldn’t have made a difference.

None of this is the coach's fault. We simply do not have the talent in our squad to compete on a level playing field each week with the sides that do. Sure we'll have the odd great game and a handful of competitive matches and of course we can match the sides that have weaker rosters like ours, but all in all we're reserve graders trying to compete in the top grade for the entire season. You can only polish a turd so much, but it will still be a turd.

Rugby League has changed so much in the last decade or so - the game itself and the type of players that excel in it. We have none of those types of players in our current roster, save perhaps Ryan Matterson, but he can't do it all on his own. No coach will be able to do anything with this team unless we get the right team balance and an elite player or 3 in key positions. Nothing is going to change until this happens, but I don't know if it ever will. Along with a couple of other teams we will just be making up the numbers in the comp for a long time yet to come.

Robbie could still potentially play as a roaming ballplaying lock. Tackling, acting sometimes as another play maker - we can have both out there if we wanted.

But yes, give Liddle the chance, may as well see what he has got.

I am sure that this was a major issue with the Wests Tigers players. I worked for many years with a major company (Telstra) which every now and then would issue a press statement that they would shed a large number of staff in upcoming months. So many staff were unsure whether they were among this number and its was so clear that there was a large drop of interest in the work carried out by these staff. The press statement produced a very significant reduction in work output/interest as staff concentrated mainly on where they would find their next job.

@matchball But wait Robbie is a legend , like that is going to happen.... yes having a dummy half that can keep up with the pace of the game might be a start .

@TigerTiger Madge at present rates very highly on my Goose List ...hopefully this will change.

I think he's trying to shuffle around deck chairs on the Titanic.

@Newtown Staff at Telstra actually work ... a few of my long time friends would be mortified if they had to work , they have been at Testra for decades a home away from home what a life !

Noticed whenever we put a bomb up none of our guys were fast enough to get to the catcher. Whereas Canberra, well we all see the pressure they put on our catcher.Lack of pace is the issue that needs to be addressed but can't be done overnight or it appears years in our case. Our forwards basically have to slog all the way to the quarter line so our backs might score off a kick.
Marsters to the forwards please.

I don't think this is the same mate.

If your on notice, your new employer in the NRL is actually watching you. How many clubs would of watched Matulino last night and thought "wow I want this guy". If anything, history would suggest players lift when their is contract issues.

Lets look at Nofolomu, he is practically on notice as well with no certainty on his future and he was probably our best. Its excuses. Just like when people said "noone would of beat Parra on their opening day". Its excuses for below par performances.

I'm sure this talk around some of the players getting shopped around would bring morale down, and that's what we saw last night- shoulders dropped=couldn't care less attitude:white_frowning_face:
Wouldn't it be good if just for one season we could have no negative talk around players/coaching problems and start winning a few games instead of this garbage.
I noticed some of the dropped shoulders on some of the poor WT's fans at the match last night, poor sots having to sit there and watch that poor showing from our team:-1:

2-3 players from last nights match have apparently been put on notice (Nofo, Matulino and Mbye). To me, Mbye played no better or worse than he has all year, Nofo was one of our best, while mats was disappointing.

No excuses for that.
