What about the penalty count???

The ref took about a minute to give them something to check. I have a try…............. check for obstruction, pick-up & grounding. Please find a way to deny this as I don't want to let Billy & Cam down.

The refs had the storm offside if our try was disallowed. Kills me that they see that tackle after tackle and let it go. They also said the same thing to the bunker on the storm try.

lets be real its all about cam and billy, even in the paper this morning the whole article was about billy and how bad the storm played very little on how good we were, its a joke.

The tackle on Kev G was a discrace I am still spewing about it …the call held was there for everybody to hear ,Kev relaxes but the Storm players at least 5 seconds after the call dropped him on his Back which back slammed him and his head hitting the ground . That was a penalty if every is seen one ..but with the super GRUB Smith lifting and in the tackle hence no penalty this summed up the whole ref performance, very poor with bias,!!!

I would’ve been fuming at the refs if we lost that. All the calls seemed to be going the Storm’s way. I’ll be interested to see if there is any talk of the penalty count tomorrow

The way triple M coined it is that there are some superstars who get free passes. Thurston in for a shoulder charge…. won't happen. Cam Smith doing his tricks... Won't happen.

When the Storm come up here we have to give it to the refs. I hope Ivan flags before hand this match and how slanted it is, flags how much Smith twists things and then if the refs still pull the same stunts... Our crown gives it to them.

If they make bad decisions like this then we can make it like a soccer game. But Club, Coach, players and fans need to be united. NOTE I am only talking about stupid decisions, not fair calls. It's difficult too as you have a lot of kids and you want to set the right example. Maybe a chant "ref it Fair".

What about when Munster tripped/back slammed on of our players. I thought that would come under a dangerous tackle or a least not in the spirit of the game

That “trip” is part of wrestling take downs and was beautifully executed!
Nothing wrong with that at all it happens many times each games when players are holding themselves up and defensive players need that take down…
I was more concerned about the TWO times Cam Smith wasn’t square at marker and then made the tackle and wasn’t penalised.. but that’s the influence he has over refs I guess

Oldies know it as the Cumberland throw

Storm do nothing wrong SC… :deadhorse:

NZ Tiger and I comented in the 2nd half that some penalties against were desreved and our discipline in that area needs work but some seemed ummm scripted...

Was it 9-1 or something...?

Yeah some of the calls were fair. Tigers were trying to slow things down when the going was getting tough. In saying that, some of the Storm's tactics were similar when we were getting on top and we didn't get much in return.

If you are referring to the article in the Telegraph (I read the cafe's copy of the paper - I wouldn't buy that rag) they said absolutely nothing about how well the Tigers played. In fact they barely mentioned the Tigers at all, it was all about how bad the Storm were. It is possibly the most disgraceful match report I have ever read. It's clear the Telegraph has an agenda against us.

Cleary isn’t the type to play media games.

This one has the poor old storm getting caned by the refs

Some of the penalties against us were warranted, but in saying that the same rules didn't apply to Melbourne. They were given an eternity in the ruck and were allowed to wrestle. We weren't givena fair chance and it certainly looked as though they were refereeing to an agenda.

No team is that undisciplined that they give away 18 penalties. Shame on the NRL and the referees. But full credit to our boys who overcame incredible diversity to win that game.

Well done to Ivan Cleary for building a team that we can all be proud of.

Why it is so hard to win away in the one team one town games

We have become the Roosters defensively , we give away penalties because we back our defence and it gives us the time to recover

The question will be can we keep it up for 22 more Rds

When we had Mats sinbinned, we didnt even get the ball in offence in the next 10 minutes.
Try, penalty, another penalty that lead to a penalty goal, followed by another penalty… most incredibly bias refereeing performance I have ever seen. And a lot of those penalties were dead-set for f####n nothing but wearing the wrong jersey.

The very first penalty of the game, Benji kicked down field, and our defence was penalised for being within 10 metres of the Storm guy who fielded the ball as they were supposedly in front of the kicker when he kicked it. The very first Tigers player who got to that Storm player was Benji! Now maybe the rules have changed, but I thought the kicker getting there first put everyone else onside ?!?

Unfortunately I never saw the game. However, having read every comment in this post it seems it's pretty much the same old, same old. The teams expected to win are always refereed differently by the officials. I don't know whether it's deliberate or just a subconscious bias by the refs - but it is nearly always the way it rolls.
I do think, however, we got lucky with the decision of Thomson grounding the ball - I've only seen it twice, but it looked to me like he missed that ball. So - not all went against us.

Gaz and Brandy were genuinely pumped for us. Gaz has really surprised me as a commentator.

NRL media is below par except for the game day people on pay tv and this is a poor advertisement for the game.
In a very even comp with many new faces nobody focused on the Warriors off season and others.

Also on the final restart saw a Melbourne player keep our guy off the ball very obvious penalty.

We were trying to stop the Storm getting a roll on when we were down to 12 , I was worried we would lose another to the bin

Refs made some bad calls , but rewatch the game , I reckon there were maybe 4 50/50 calls we didn't get

The Lawrence one being one , and I return back to the forward pass that the Storm has disallowed , that was unlucky , the hands are going backwards , we would have fumed it that call didn't go our way if the roles were reversed

The refs will have nothing to answer for.

If you put the magnifying glass on each Storm penalty they will pass the pub test. However, what doesn’t get scrutinised are the penalties NOT given, as in why the Tigers only got one penalty in the second half.
