What do we need?

Hard running Gareth Ellis type back rower
Hard Running Shannon Boyd Prop
Above Average Justin Hodges type centre

And a bit more mongrel from the rest , a never say die attitude

Great post mate. Are you of the opinion that our pack is weak? Because I feel like attitude is half the problem - I.e, if a team like Canberra or Penrith score back to back we seem to lose the will to keep fighting (that will better as our youngsters gain experience though).
The only thing I feel we desperately need is one sizeable back rower who has better fitness than CL or Sue. We have good young forwards coming through, especially props so a signing of someone like Elliot whitehead would complement the team well and he'd be our Gareth Ellis or Simon Dwyer with a Bit of X-factor in the forwards… Who else in our forwards can pass? Not including E.T as Taylor wants him to fill the workhorse role now Farah is gone

Need a Backrower and a centre, Id love to have whare, hiku, idris
2 Nofo
3 Insert here
4 Chee-Kam/Heleta
5 Simona

There is only one need this club requires and plenty of it $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and all the other needs fall into shape . With out this commodity the club will be struggling mid table like forever!

the panthers seem too have an abundance of centres like Blake, Peachy, Whare, Hiku. someone like dean whare would be a nice fit. Still remember the game where he ran rings around lovett in the centres

Whare or Peachey would go alright.

Hiku and Whare might struggle to fight their way back into the team if Panthers run deep into the finals.

Either way they're not short of quality players in the three quarter line and one might be cut loose.

chee-kam is not an nrl centre

Naiqama is not an nrl centre…, your point?

Replacing like with like is a zero sum game…no point.

Is my point…..

Tend to agree with you MCK is a make shift centre at best, we need a real strong proven centre. Don't get me wrong I see him as a pretty good footballer but he is probably a fringe no 17 at present with his future lying in his ability to develop into a quality backorder

It would cost the club nothing tho if we could at least put our current squad in the right positions. Huge improvements could be made just doing this first, I really belive.
Just one eg is E.T not wasting any time at hooker. Even just focusing on one player to learn to kick reliably would have gotten us into the 8 this year alone.

Firstly I have to agree with snake,we need dollars and plenty of it….we are still along way off becoming a club that can recruit well while restricted in the bank account..Once we have financial stability then we can start combing the market for our major needs within the squad..secondly as many have said, our facilities are very ordinary for an NRL club, this has to become a priority or as has been said, quality players will by pass us for better surroundings regarding their training regime....
We are moving in the right direction I feel, but still need a lot of areas to be worked on before we become a very competitive club...

We need backrowers. With Thurston getting older the The Cowboys set to offer Jason Taumalolo a massive deal as they see him as there future leader. With that in mind I think we should target there other backrowers, as they wont want to throw much money at them.
Coen Hess played exceptionally last weekend ( Ethan Lowe was injured ) they have a surplus of backrowers as does Penrith. I'd target Hess as he would be cheap and looks the goods , either him or Lowe.

Coen Hess would not be cheap and the Cowboys have him locked up until the end of 2018\. They'd shuffle Gavin Cooper off before they got rid of Lowe or Hess.

Hess is the highest rated young forward in the game not a chance they let him leave. Lowe may never play again. We have to extend ET.

If Taumalolo signs the deal which is being reported by foxsports..then you can't imagine there would be too much left for the other backrowers. Scott is also looking at signing a new three year deal.
“If he signs this deal he will usurp Cameron Smith as the highest paid forward in the NRL. Big bucks, we’re talking $1.2 million a season"

Stating the obvious 2 x decent backrowers,2 x centres and 1 capable winger with ability + a goal kicker who kicks around or above 80% would be handy.

It seems obvious Chevy but we havnt strengthened the 3/4 line for years. We live in hope.

First priority. A gun winger. Ideally someone who can kick.
Second priority. An explosive impact forward.
Third priority. A quality backrower. This is important and would really add to our team but I think Lawrence, ET, Aloiai, Sironen, Sue or a junior from within the club can do the job here.
