What if the Magpies were the sole NSw Cup side?

Its interesting how all Balmain fans don't seem to mind the idea of a single NSW Cup side named the Wests Tigers but Wests Magpies fans are concerned.

Why would that be?

could it be that "Tigers" fans know they get the better deal out of it than us from the "Wests" side of the fence?

Don't stress Galahs. Of all the Wests Tigers I go to, not once has the word Tigers ever left my mouth. "C'mon Wests" Great Try Wests" etc. I find it still comforting. Sorry to all the Balmain heads on here.

I believe mergers suck but the Wests-Balmain merger has been the fairest. They should play all games at Campbelltown though. The reason.. Leichhardt is an absolute hole. How bad is it. They will never redevelop it so bulldoze it. Simple.

Glad to see someone else who hasn't been brainwashed by the media.

Leichhardt is great when you are sitting in the Latchem Robinson Stand with a crowd of 21000 in the place. But when you are standing on the hill, the amount of blind spots on the field where you can't see is ridiculous. For example if you stand on a packed hill at halfway, you can't see the eastern side corner posts. You need to gauge by the roar of the crowd to guess if a player has scored.

Leichhardt isn't the best ground.. It's hard to get to and the amenities struggle on the big occasions.
I have no problem with Balmain and Wests both playing out of Campbelltown… 2 Teams every week for the Time being. One way forward, One state Cup team called Wests Tigers!!
That way everyone will be happy, Magic will be back playing for "Wests" And everything will be OK!!

lol… Its no different at Lang Park Bug. If your sitting in rows 3-10, you wont see the opposite end corner posts either.

While everyone wants to see the game, I think you stand on the Hill for the experience more so!

I hope it is Wests Tigers…
I follow them relentlessly!!
Balmain and The Maggies are all but an Interest, And I would rather to only have to go to one NSW Cup game than choose which one to go to.... At which location
It's difficult not to mention time consuming...
Imagine being head coach and trying to analyse every player from both teams, And different locations on mostly the same day... I can see why he's done what he's done!!

You can when you sit in the top tier of Lang Park Watto
I highly recommend it to any one to try at least once
Completely different view and I loved it really see things happening more clearly and it is good for the kids as well
Had my son convinced one of the sound mics on the roof was an owl that did not move all night

Well that's why he gets paid the big bucks. Imagine him having to watch an extra game of footy per week. The poor thing!

We have to play games at leichhardt its our only spiritual home ground and we win more then we lose.

Im sure sheens would leave it up to his nsw cup coaches to give him info on whos playing well.

One team called wests tigers is the best thing for the club…..nsw cup as it is now is a joke.

Wests tigers have outgrown both leichhardt and campbelltown. They either should get increased capacity it we play somewhere else like anz or sfs.

The upper tier of the Western Grandstand at Campbelltown can be extended (similar to what they did at Kogarah) to run deadball line to deadball line. That would make its length 120 metres and assist in increasing capacity.

The eastern Stand comprising of the corporate boxes could be expanded in similar fashion hence increasing the corporate capacity by 3 fold.
These extensions would be easy to do.
But I would estimate would cost around 20 million plus.

Leichhardt needs a nice big stand on the northern side of the ground similar to that at Wollongong.

Then we would have 2 amazing grounds and absolutely no need to play anywhere else but Leichhardt and Campbo !!

I Like these ideas BB.

The only way either of these things to happen is the local electorates become Marginal seats politically.

Oh wait …. They are now.

Bug but they will only do that if it will significantly increase the ground capacity . Do you think it will Bug ?? I'm not so sure

It would be a marginal increase in capacity, but the key investment is undercover seating.

Not sure the capacity of Latchem Robinson stand, but a stand at the northern end would see more fans attend on nights such as against the Roosters two weeks back. We could have got 15,000 instead of 10,000.

Closing parts of the ground in the modern era is a bit of a joke.

i agree bug, except i think any new grandstand at leichhardt oval should be on the hill side. time to get into the 21st century.

Something like this on the Northern Hill at Leichhardt would be insane and add another dimension to the ground.

I think some fossils would come to life and kill if you touched the main hill !!

The Council would never allow such a development.

If we want to seriously talk about the realities of 21st century sports than the AFL has an excellent model with two main grounds used that are in or just outside the CBD and accessed easliy by a well serviced network of train, bus and light rail.

How does that facilitate the people of MacArthur ?

That is a really good point. If leichhardt can't be expanded, hopefully Campbelltown could be expanded to 30,000+ and we could use the ground allocation similar to that of geelong. Play massive games at homebush and the rest at campbelltown.
