What if the Magpies were the sole NSw Cup side?

I'll support the Wests Tigers as long as they play out of Campbelltown mate :sign:

But I also throw my support behind any team that gives local Rugby League opportunities to my home region :righton: I'm proud of where I come from and my hope is local kids will always have the opportunities to represent their home region with pride in what ever level of footy they are capable of playing at. Be it club, Harrold Matts, SG Ball, Bundy cup, NSW Cup, NRL and hopefully State of Origin and International levels.

I want Rugby League to be the winner, and for that to happen, we can't expect our kids to have to travel into Sydney, Parramatta, Penrith or other far away places to get the opportunities they deserve.

Theres plenty of bigger AREAS with more kids that dont have any team that they could call their own

Name them.

It is true that other clubs will come into the area and look to sign juniors, but by having a team representing the area running junior football, you have the first mover advantage.

Bloody hell i have to name them gees.

The whole of the central coast the greater west of sydney places like bathurst orange etc and you could even say the sth coast doesnt have their own team and all these young kids have to move closer to the club they play for or travel so if we didnt have a nsw cup team playing out of c-town i dont think it would make much difference to be honest other club raid all areas not just sth west of sydney.First move im not so sure.

Big deal over nothing if there were so many players in that area why is it that wests have 5 players in their nsw cup from the area the rest are from all over the place. How many of your 1980s and 90s players were from the area not many its a myth.

Anyway its clear im wasting my time i let you guys keep dreaming.

Central Coast has a team called the "Central Coast Centurions" who are a feeder club for Newcastle (The Entrance also has a team in the Bundy cup). Greater Western areas come under the CRL and have group football. I can give you some leeway with your call of the South Coast, but Cronulla does have a team in the NSW Cup.

All the major areas of Sydney have representation and access for juniors to move to senior football. I don't have exact numbers, but Campbelltown would rival Penrith and Newcastle for the largest junior base. Canterbury and Easts are stinging to get into the area, quite interesting given as you say the talent pool in the area is a "myth"

Yes they have i realise that…. but the arguement is a pathway through all the grades and then nrl which club can these players go to if they are to good for nsw cup if you say newcastle then they have to travel further then what a c-town junior would have to if they played for wests tigers.

There is a pathway for every area in nsw but there is also travelling involved and galea had said if we didnt have a team in the macarthur area why should all our juniors have to travel to concord to train.

Im pretty sure penrith, newcastle, canberra, brisbane, goldcoast have a bigger junior base but i could be wrong.

I Knew you would come back at me with this but your missing the earlier point made by galeas...

Oh well there will be 1 team called the wests tigers in the nsw cup and the precious macarthur area will have a team but it will be representing the balmain district as well and you know what we have all that area to choose from i bet we still will buy players from other clubs or outside of our junior areas. No big deal

Ummm I'm sure the CEO of the Wests Tigers said the sth west is a priority at a recent AGM…. also I remember in his first week in charge he visited the area to showcase it's importance... hard part to juggle is the fact the corporate support comes from outside the heartland...

I think to say either the south west or the inner west is more important to the organisation is a bit if a cop out. They're both a priority, and when the joint venture state cup side is in place they can split home games and train at the same place as first grade, if that doesn't appease both sides, then they're living in the past!

Tiger4ever behave you say wests junior base is a myth our list is long and large have you heard of jarryd hayne and israel folau for starters.we had some in the 80s a lot in the 90s but please remember campbelltown was just a cow paddock in the 80s compared to what it is now and in another ten years the mcarthur area will be much bigger thaan its now large size we need to make sure easts and canterbury keep there mits off our western suburbs juniors.

Surely one team "Wests Tigers" in the nsw cup( or whatever it's called) has got to be a benefit to our main aim winning the NRL premiership! How can dissolving our fringe first graders form any cohesion when split into two teams. Two teams two different coaching strategies, different calls for same plays only leads to confusion when these players step up to the big time, which can't be good.
I'm 28 supported balmain as that's who my old man went for. Now I support the Wests tigers! My 4 yr old does to he knows nothing of balmain or Wests only Wests tigers. When he's my age with kids he'll only know Wests tigers! Magpies and balmain are gone, I couldn't even name 5 blokes from balmains last season as balmain. The only ones I recall are jack, Elias, pearce, sirro, roach.

As far as I'm concerned one team Wests tigers in nsw cup, play where possible before our Toyota cup side at whatever ground we are at in both grades.

As I said I followed Balmain growing up, but do believe the Wests tigers and cambelltown council, state gov should all be putting funds into the ground out there develop it into something like titans stadium, train there do everything there make it a fortress, and play a few games at leichardt oval against some Sydney teams maybe dragons, rabbits or roosters.

Just my 2 bobs worth, but the future is Wests tigers and balmain and western suburbs magpies are no more the sooner all can face it the better it'll be.

Lol well maybe a bit harsh but not any more important then any other area is more like it.

Yes i realise it was a cow paddock and you guys were playing at lidcombe oval your true heartland for 80 years or something.Yeah i know hayne and falau mateo all played in our areas which brings up a good point why didnt they come to the tigers. Its shows that despite it been our junior base it does not mean they go on to play for the magpies or tigers for that matter. How would you think the gold coast feel with keebra park affiliated with wests tigers it happens.

How in the world can you judge the one state cup side on this year so far Bug!! The fact that we have been competitive with the amount of injuries we've had this year says to me that the one team structure is successful.

This is more than just about players from first grade, it's a cultural thing. Right now we have an us vs them culture outside of the top 17-20 players. This is a ridiculous predicament! We should be promoting one team, one culture, but it seems some in the joint venture don't want that

Isn't it time that we Give the "Wests" Branding some light in this joint venture and let them be the SOLE feeder club for 2011 and beyond.. Wests have the Juniors and the money.. Balmain does NOT… The "Balmain" side gets the very prominent branding in everyone (media/commentators) calling Wests Tigers "The Tigers" plus a more inner sydney game opportunities at leichhardt and SFS.. I support Wests Tigers 100% but think it should be a fairer 50/50 joint venture when it comes to the branding and linking to both 1908 clubs.. Full Time NSW Cup Side in Campbelltown as Wests Magpies from 2011.

Tigers are OBVIOUSLY still ALIVE so dont let the Magpies die!!!!

Wests have the juniors and the money…...nice story.Count them you will be suprised

Penrith have 10 licensed clubs and the football club is struggling financially.

Its closer to 50-50 then the other joint venture who actually do supply majority of juniors.

Actually on the wests tiger site i counted you guys had 13 we had 10 the rest were from other clubs have i missed anything

Sorry but this is just a lot of rubbish. So basically your indea of 50/50 is to have 2 senior teams called Wests and none called Balmain.

I can just as easily hysertically shout dont let Balmain die but I'm happy for the sole state cup team to be called Wests Tigers. How exactly is the name Wests Tigers not a 50/50 share? And it's hardly the Balmain side's fault the very occasional commentator calls the team Balmain.

Wests have all the money and juniors? Please…

I think you can regard any one who plays Junior reps like Flegg and SG Ball is a junior. Even if they are recruited originally from another area (like Liam Fulton).
