it looks like there might not be a team called balmain in the nsw cup next year. instead they might be called wests tigers. wests magpies will still have a team in the nsw cup and they might be getting nrl squad players from st.george illawarra and/or canberra

This is a disgrace, wests the club merged in 2000\. We should have one feeded club, called wests tigers. Its so obvious, the fact that commom sence doesnt prevail is because people are motivated by their own interests rather than the clubs. This will eventually sort itself out when people keeping these old divisions alive die out, but this may take 20 years.

As for wests being a feeder club for another nrl team, no one can seriously be that dumb. This would be the equililant to Australia letting the japanese perform training exercises in australia during WW2.

Wests Tigers already have 1 feeder club. This year that feeder club is called Balmain Ryde Eastwood Tigers, and next year it will be the same or they will change the name to Wests Tigers.

You misunderstand my point. The feeder club "wests tigers" should be "wests tigers" ie this is a club owned 50/50 by both. Not BRET, not BRET called Wests tigers and not wests magpies.

This is simply the best way forward for the club that i love (ie wests tigers). I dont know how any loyal supporter to the "wests tigers" can argue against this.

Your right it is my opinion, that why i posted it, under my pseudonym. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Future aside, i was under the belief that the wt feeder side changed annually. Balmain in 2011 wests in
2012 etc. Terry Lamb first suggested one feeder side. The one key factor (putting name/brand/history aside) is that balmain has a skeletel junior league (its been merged with st george junior league for over 15 years) and hasnt produced the influx of juniors for wt like wests have.. Lawrence,Hodgson,Fulton and Dwyer. This is a solid legitiment arguement.

i think after 23 pages of mostly bias veiw points one way or another, it would be timely to give it all up and allow time to take its toll, no doubt in my mind that this banter will die off and the Wests Tigers will ultimately reign supreme

Thats not even an arguement. Thats just a statement. For it to be an arguement, you actually have to argue for something.

If what you are trying to say because of the juniors, the feeder club should be wests, thats an arguement. Now heres a counter arguement.

This is the 17 to start on sunday and where they are from

1\. Mackinon- Warriors
2\. Ryan- Dragons
3\. Ayshford- Roosters
4\. Simona- Balmain junior
5\. Brown- Sharks
6\. Marshall- NZ, via keebra park
7\. Moltzen- NSW Country
8\. Gibbs- Wests junior
9\. Fartah- Balmain junior
10\. Galloway- Sharks
11\. Dwyer- Wests junior
12\. Ellis- England
13- Heighington- NSW Country
14- Lui- QLD
15\. Fulton- Wests junior
16\. Woods- Balmain junior
17\. Fafita- NSW Country

Thats 3 from each club and no indication whatsoever the team is dominated by magpies. It appears that argument is not so solid.

This is exactly the point with the Wests single state cup side. They may have more juniors in sheer numbers, but the quality of them is coming equally from both sides of the merger. Therefore why not merge the state cup sides, and therefore we have a streamlined approach to our club. They come from the Harold Matthews, to SG Ball, then WT Cubs, NYC, State Cup and eventually first grade. Our state cup side will be much more valuable an exercise with this approach, and allow for greater quality of depth, not just numbers. There is also the ability to let relationships and combinations grow from the age of 16/17 when they enter the whole system.

PS - don't mean to be nit-picky, but I think McKinnon is a Penrith/Parra junior.
