You don't see the point in having 2 NSW Cup teams? With 2 NSW Cup teams we have more room to keep more players when they are turn too old to play for the WT Under 20s team!

I really don't see this as a valid argument. The best of the under 20s from the year before will be kept under one team, mostly because the best will be under WT contracts already, and any others who are good enough will be retained. This is half the problem at the moment, because we waste so much money retaining players who in reality are never going to be genuine first graders. We shouldn't be putting whats best for a former under 20 player who MAY play FG ahead of whats best for the whole joint venture club.

Wests Tigers aren't wasting any money on the 2 NSW Cup teams because they don't fund either team. So Wests Tigers are actually saving money for the first grade team and the under 20s team. They will need to spend money on a NSW Cup team if there is to be a Wests Tigers NSW Cup team. And you can't always tell when a player is only 20 years old if he is going to become a good first grader.

How the hell is giving wests best players (50%jv owner) to ryde eastwood (0%jvowner)better for the jv.
@smeghead said:Here is the simple brass tax that everybody seems to wilfully ignore.
Both Balmain and Western Suburbs were, essentially, failures in regard to business and keeping a strong foothold and interest in the communities they serviced. From the Balmain side that I know and the Western Suburbs side that I was not involved with from prior to the Joint Venture there is alot of denial about this.
We can too and fro about who came from where but the simple fact is Wests and Balmain failed due to inept management and not being able to move into the modern era of a footballing business. We were victims of our own failures. Claims of vendettas by the administration are truculant rubbish from either side. Each club chose their path and both clubs failed.
This is the reason why Wests Tigers exist and it is the reason that all tiered progression from SG Ball onwards should fall under the Wests Tigers banner.
If you want to really talk bias and exclusion go and talk to Bears and Steelers fans. They can tell you all about it.
I do look forward to an independant commission when the decision is taken out of clubs hands and a National Reserve Grade competition comes into being. It will, at the very least, provide an interesting guessing game as to where the next battle of irrelevance on the Wests V Balmain V Wests Tigers chestnut will be drawn

They should be playing for WT, with the money both sides spent on State Cup now re-assigned to WT to spend how they wish (they wouldn't need as much to spend on it as its one team as opposed to two, therefore they would be better funded)
Because you said in a previous post that wests were being self indulgent and to blame but yet balmain were happy to get on all fours and sell out there soul to ryde eastwood for two beers and a free spin on a pokie. And now our best players play for wests (50%jv partner) but ryde eastwood 0%jv partner so you tell me whos self indulgent .Do some research and think about your post before you shoot your mouth off about in reality the most unself indulgent tea in SPORT.Western suburbs magpies.Wake up and smell the coffee.

If any of the Magpies fans on here knew anything about what is really going on in this club you may understand the logic behind this. Alas, you are stuck behind a wall of shifting blame and poor us from your board and their representatives on the WT board. Trust me, I know more about this situation than any of the people on here, and would not just shoot my mouth off.
YOU need to wake up to the fact that the Magpies are a dead brand, and that WT is the only way forward! If Wests aren't so self indulgent, then why would they shun WT and try to have a State Cup team with players from other clubs??
@dtowells said:I agree 100% that us 'wests people' should be dissapointed with the Wests Board and the reps on the WT Board - I personally am. The forum is not pointing fingers at members on this forum or having a real dig at old 'Balmain' fans. Naturally it becomes a forum were frustrations are vented and heartstrings are pulled.
I am a member of Wests Tigers, Western Suburbs RLFC, Wests Ashfield Leagues & Wests Campbelltown Leagues.
I do however find quotes like 'magpies are a dead brand' somewhat disrespectful in its context
Its only 'dead' in the eyes of Rugby League fans (both WT & NON WT) who don't 'see it' within WT or its easily 'forgotten' when compared to the 'Tigers (or Balmain of old)' brand within the modern day team we support today Wests Tigers. REMEMBER!! Steve Humphreys has acknowledged to the Wests Board that WT is seen in the Rugby league community as an 'extension of Balmain'
If WT was named Balmain Magpies at the end of 1999 then would you (Balmain Diehards) happily state that 'Tigers are a dead brand'? i truly think not.
Yes! Its hard to let go on both sides when it comes to a single WT NSW Cup team but unless i or we personally see more of 'level playing field of recognition' within WT Overall then this debate will long live on.
How that level of playing field is reach is difficult to predict or resolve. I am all for unity and support within WT from top to bottom but to be brutally honest i sometimes (i stress sometimes) personally feel like an old illawarra steelers fan looking for recognition in the Dragons NRL Club

@matty119 said:The money that is being wasted by Balmain and Wests on State Cup teams is money which could be going towards WT and their development.
If Wests want to be self-indulgent and not put what is best for WT ahead of their own agendas, then they might as well get out of the joint venture.

Well that's just your opinion that it is a waste of money. Thankfully not everyone is so stupid. If Wests Magpies want to keep a team in the NSW Cup and Wests Ashfield are using THEIR OWN MONEY to do so then who the hell are you or anyone else to say that they can't??? If Wests Tigers choose not to give half of the WT NRL squad contracted players who don't play firstgrade to Wests Magpies NSW Cup team then they shouldn't be surprised if Wests Magpies lets St.George Illawarra or Canberra NRL players play for Wests Magpies.
