Yeah it is when they tried the emulate it with the same style of football that died in 2005

It should of been something we built from and we wasted it and trying to bring back the past doesn't focus on what's important , the future

Thats really a very weak reply happy
Just because we didnt maintain success post the GF doesnt mean its irrelevant.
Its all one and the same, the vid is Wests..Balmain..Wests Tigers…its who we are and where we're from...our history is our history, it is what it is
The future is touched on from the 10 or 11 min mark

The players won't care and nor should they

I want them 100% focussed on the future , not worrying about the nobody cares about other than Wests and Balmain fans

I know ,I know I'm the worst WT's fan of all time , I can live with it

Your third paragraph- YES!! I finally agree with something you’ve said

I'm so glad you agree with me , I didn't know how I was going to sleep tonight without your approval :unamused:

No , I don't understand why people question your support of your team when you take a differing opinion from them :brick:

Maybe if more questioned the decisions being made about this club it would be in a far better place instead of accepting the mediocrity that we have achieved despite everything and feeding on the occasional crumb of achievement

Remember since the WT's existence we are the worst ranked side in the comp in regards to wins having less than 39%

Simply the best Club initiative ever. Our struggle has always been about who we are. Magpies & Tigers fans struggled with the JV initially! To see the past through the eyes of real people who were there and then to see the effort being put in to establish a new Foundation Club is fantastic. Because that's what we are - The Wests Tigers are a Foundation Club for a new era! We took 2005 for granted. Players didn't form the bonds as they had promised. Brothers for life were soon departed. There is a reason we now have hope folks … Ivan Cleary. He could just be the greatest influencer on a club since Clive Churchill! When I saw the way the video unfolded I realised that the Club finally has a Vision that it can share with players, fans and the bloody admin gurus! Well done Team!

I know MWZ would care
Noffa cares…young Suli I reckon (maybe in time)
ET would care...Rowdy most def would care...Brooks coming thru Holy X would be aware..this will rub off on the others...youre wrong here Hap

Obviously some care , some who've been here since day dot , but that history ain't convince some young player to sign here or stay is it ??

As long as they pay up November 1 that's all that matters

And the quicker some wake up that league in 2018 isn't all about history , appealing to players emotions and a premiership won 12 years ago the better

We've brought 12/17 from the 2005 premiership side , name 1 true success story

Take off the gold ,black and white sunnies all , they are misting up again

Look at it through 15 other NRL clubs eyes , it's just pure nonsense based on an attempt to appeal to fans

I’m all for looking to the future but to not respect our past and where we are from I think is short sighted and not what strong clubs are built on.

Happy do you think that anyone coming into teams like the Bulldogs, Roosters, Broncos or even the Knights aren’t exposed to what players of the past had done for the club?

Those clubs have a strong identity that’s built on their history and whilst that doesn’t determine their future it is something that should and needs to be recognised to create that foundation to build a successful club in the future.

Yes rugby league is a business when it comes to contracts but I don’t believe it is as cold as that when you have a group of young men that are all working towards achieving something together.

If we need to look to the future and forget about 2005, Wests and Balmain I'll remember this thread fondly next time Wests Panthers are brought up.

For crying out loud, it's a puff piece done to explain to recruits whom have never had anything to do with our system or club (even the ones who have should still watch it, none of our squad a few years back knew who Dennis Tutty was,) what the place is about, the two proud clubs and the history that preceded it. Three groups of fans whom this club carries their hearts in the old Balmain, old Wests and the Wests Tigers fans who've known nothing other than WT.

Sure, the past is in the past, but it's good to acknowledge it, it's a part of us. As far as I'm concerned, the Magpies history is every part of me now as the history of Balmain ever was. The clubs have been married that long now that they are inextricably linked.

Always good to have one eye on where you're going, and one eye on where you've been. Another question is has the club ever done anything like this before? Do our players really know who and what they represent? We have long whinged about culture and pride in the strip but has the club ever gone out of their way to do anything like this to show the players what, and whom, they are playing for? It's a great initiative.

I’m not questioning your support I just disagree with your approach. I think I’m allowed to disagree - this is a forum. By the way, glad you were able to sleep last night.

This is what I have believed has been needed for over a decade ..the club has finally got a vision for the future ,a vision of a club that all WANT to belong to from Fans to Players to employees in the front office ,has the sleeping giant finally started to wake up?
WE ARE WESTSTIGERS! :sign:

Sarcasm isn't your strong point Ink , but I am pissed about how people are questioning my support of the club and the way I support it

I have never ever said anything different , I'm about 100% accountability and I still don't think the club gets remotely close to that

Quotes.

Happy, you say we lack accountability, yet a video produced to demonstrate to show that we arent the perennial losers we have become, that we have a rich history, that shows that you can make a mark here and immortalise yourself to the fanbase and etch your name in the clubs history book, that we arent a place where a player comes to die, we are a place that can and has produced greatness… lacks accountability.

Culture is driven by not only playing for a pay cheque, but on pride. Pride is what drives you not want to fail your team mates, pride is the emotion that amplifies the joy of a win in front of 50,000 rather than 50 fans.... and you are here ragging on the video which is trying to instill in players pride in the jersey to marry with the personal pride of a professional athlete, that very primal emotion that made them strive to be elite in the first place.

A quick lesson in accountability.... as a business, you wouldnt invest millions into a worker over 4yrs who has a history of injury yet is proven to not be able to deliver results. Bondi is East, you are in the west, get yourself a tom tom.

We've been a basket case for Yonks , I thought the video was good for morale .
Anything positive to get us out of the doldrums is a good thing !!!

Hey Happy , I've bought you a Roosters membership , look out for a brown paper bag on your front verandah !

Happy's more a Souff's man I would think…

A guess we could continue to do what we have been doing or try something different..

Exactly. How can we expect players to show pride in the jersey if they don't know what the jersey represents. It's a great initiative from the club.

I wonder what the culture is that they are trying to forge?
That video doesnt do much to help surely? Very dry viewing.

Not ragging on the video , just saying it is fan driven not player driven

Personal pride in performance always come first no matter if your playing in the NRL or Oodnadatta Emus

Since the WT's have come into existence we have the worst winning record of the 16 clubs

If it takes a video to show some pride in the jersey we signed the wrong players , wouldn't you agree ??
